Like a lot of people, I'm getting a little tired of my winter clothes so I went digging in my storage bins to see if my summer clothes could enliven the stuff I've been wearing all winter long. I really like the look of white on white (a la this photo) especially with the juxtaposition of a winter knit and a summer skirt. This has been a busy week and I'm really looking forward to the weekend--I'm planning on going for a fancy cocktail at the cozy Tabard Inn if the weather is dreary and spending my hard-earned pennies at Kramer Books (come across any good books lately?). I hope you have a great weekend!

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

I hope you have a great weekend, too! I love the white on white. :)
And your earrings are beautiful!
Hey, what shade is on your nails? It's so pretty!
i'm usually a quiet reader, but i have to say i love this look.
Pretty coral-y nail polish color, what is it?

The white on white looks super cute I've been trying to figure out how to layer my summer clothes with articles that actually keep me warm as well, so I totally get the feeling.
I needed a break from Mahan's Naval History book, so I picked up Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume on a whim, and it's reading very quickly but very well. My boyfriend and I have also been reading My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me together. Which is a pretty fantastic way to spend an evening.
I also would love to know your nail color! It looks perfect for early spring.
Tabard Inn is indeed cozy-- the food is delightful as well.
This is so cute! I'm loving the cozy sweater with those leopard flats!!!
for those who asked, the nail polish is essie's cute as a button.
thanks for your kind words!!
I'm reading The Tiger's Wife. Gorgeous writing and storytelling. Have you read it? I can hardly believe she's only in her 20s.
danielle--i haven't read it either but i also couldn't believe she is such a young writer! i've heard good things about it (and i've picked it up literally every time i've been in a bookstore and wondered if i should buy it)--would you recommend it?
I love the white-on-white! I'm doing something similar today-- but only on top and paired with jeans.
I'd love to see what your closet looks like. How do you keep it organized? I completely forget pieces that I have sometimes!
@elizabeth--sounds so pretty! i love a range of whites together. there is a picture of my closet here:

i do what a lot of people do, organize by type (top, skirt, dress) and within them, by color. then my sweaters are folded (or more often, crammed) in some shelves under my hanging tops, and i keep knits and jeans in a dresser in the bedroom. it's not very exciting but it works for me.
I'm in love with your shoes.
Happy Friday

Just downloaded a bunch of Radiolab for my time in airports and on planes this weekend. I'm really excited for them!
Man I love this look! I might need to go shopping just to recreate it. You look great!
I'm happy that you have storage bins too :) I feel like I have way too much clothing and its nice to learn I'm not some crazy hoarder. Although i'm not in a locale that participates in that thing called the change of seasons, I'm enjoying seeing these lovely spring-like outfits of late :) Very pretty!
@andrea--ha, i hate to disappoint but christopher and i keep just one large storage bin in the closet of out-of-season clothes, so i went digging through my summer things. soon i'll switch them out and pack up all the wool. but fear not! i am a hoarder in other ways--i cannot get rid of a book to save my life!
i love that you half tuck in your sweaters too. high five.
Beautiful skirt!!
I just finished reading "The Black Book" by Orhan Pamuk. It's a pseudo-detective novel, but very intellectual and introspective. I loved it!
i love the shoes with this outfit!
I absolutely LOVE this outfit. Love tell ya.
Two books I've been recommending this month:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler
I must say, this is one of my favorite outfits of yours! I love the tuck of the chunky sweater and this skirt is just so lovely!
See Me Rwar
Oooooh I love the white-on-white! I constantly rock black-on-black, but some how had never thought to try it's counterpart. The leopard flats and bright nails finish it perfectly.
A weekend spent buying books/reading sounds fabulous. Maybe I will finally get around to checking out my local library this weekend!
Great look! I really like the chunky sweater and earrings.
Well I don't know what kind of books you particularly enjoy but I recently read Kurt Vonnegut's Jailbird and it was my favourite yet of him (one of my favourite authors). Although since it's older maybe you've already read it. Other than that the best book i've read recently was Justice by Michael Sandel but it's not really fiction, haha. (recommended if you enjoy political philosophy)
Love this look! I might have to try and recreate it!
And the leopard print shoes are too cute. Do they run true to size?
super love this whole look. the leopard flats are adorbs.
I am so over winter - it snowed again yesterday. le ugh :)
We're loving the white on white look. What a great way to transition into spring and summer. :)
xo,
Ruche
You look very pretty with your hair like this and in your winter-spring whites. Drink the crap out of that Fancy Cocktail for me! :)
radiolab is the best program on the air! I've listened to allll of them. so psyched that you're a fan :) annnnd cute outfit :)

I adore those leopard print flats! They add a nice flair to the understated colours of the rest of the outfit, and together they achieve a nice balance.
I recently read a less canonical novel by Wilkie Collins: Heart and Science. It was enjoyably dramatic with a vivisection-practicing scientist thrown in!
you are going to LOVE tabard inn!
That sweater and skirt look great. You have a really refreshing style.
I always recommend Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. Outlander is the first book. It involves a nurse in 1945 who goes on a second honeymoon with her husband to Scotland after the Second World War. On a walk she steps through a crack in a circle of standing stones and is transported back 200 years. Very fun series!
Your skirt is so cute! Enjoy your weekend!
Your hair is so pretty today! I wish I had a book rec for you, but I haven't finished a book since I started blogging! Ergh! Hoping to work on that this weekend!
I love the monochromatic sweater and skirt. You look so springy and fresh!

Re The Tiger's Wife - Yes, I'd definitely recommend it! The book is a little hard to describe, but I will say that it's structured in a series folk tales that are fantastic and magical and beautiful.
Lovely sweater and skirt! I love the leo flats with all the nude colours!
Love the neutral outfit, with the fun leopard print shoes! :)

for those who asked--yes, these flats run true to size! and they are super comfortable.
