This weekend, when Christopher and I both returned from our trips, we took our bicycles out for an afternoon picnic under the cherry blossoms on the potomac. I've gotten cabin fever this winter, working indoors so often and living in an apartment without any kind of outdoor space, so I was dying to be outside in the sunshine this weekend. The day was perfect--sunny and breezy and smelling like spring--and I kept wishing I could bottle it (as the old adage goes, those who cannot bottle, photograph). This week I have an embarrassment of riches--two of my best friends from college are visiting and so is Christopher's twin brother--but I promise to keep posting (if only for you, Mama!). XO.

I think we may have the same bicycle! Mine is dark green.
These pictures are beautiful! Riverside picnics are the best way to spend sunny days for sure. Your outfits always inspire me to keep putting fun outfits together (for the blog still trying to get off the ground and for me) and to still be myself in them.
I would love to go visit somewhere with cherry trees, I've never seen a lot of them in one place and they are so lovely (so is your outfit!). Are there many in DC?
It looks like an absolutely perfect day!
I love the cardigan! Looks like you had a gorgeous day.
you have a great blog in here! love your sunny disposition too! We're your newest followers. Please visit ours & follow us back.

Thank you! ^_^
Sigh, those blossoms are lovely. I can't wait until the trees in Zagreb start to bloom! I actually live in a neighborhood that's named for its cherry trees, but sadly, there aren't too many of them anymore.
I love your gold flats, by the way. I've always been a little wary of metallic shoes, but paired with neutrals yours look so subtle and feminine!
Gorgeous! Glad you got outside to enjoy the sunshine.
So incredibly perfect. I am looking out at trees covered in snow but if I squint my eyes they *almost* look like they are blooming with cherry blossoms. Here's to Spring and a fabulous week for you!

I love your blog! You always look so cute :)
I'm loving all the wonderful weather everyone seems to be enjoying! We've spent countless hours outside, at the park, or by the pond, with our baby and dog. It's so cheery!

This is such a gorgeous picture of you! I love the gorgeous blossoms on that tree! All of our trees are still dead and brown. :-(
You are adorable as always. And what I wouldn't give right now to live somewhere where the first day of spring LOOKS like spring!
Someone get me a retro bicycle, stat.
I have such good memories of cherry blossom time in DC! Thanks for the photos!
zomg cherry blossoms!!
I have a nutcase helmet too, but I'm sad to say my possibly-vintage raleigh (sir walter) is languishing on a toronto sidewalk 400km away :(
anyhow. you look so springy and cute! have a great week.
Love! The sweater and skirt are lovely together.
Oh my goodness, these pictures make me wish I was there right now. Beautiful weather and the perfect outfit to enjoy it in! I really love how you paired the cardigan with such a simple and sweet skirt. Lovely!

Yay!
Isn't our city marvelous? Have fun sharing it with all of your visitors!
You are so lucky to be enjoying Spring weather, unfortunately here in the Bay Area we have had horrible weather. But atleast the rain stopped and now hopefully, we can have sun!
That tree is gorgeous! What perfect picnics pics.

How fun! I love that skirt. I have definitely been suffering from cabin fever as well. It's so difficult to sit inside on a beautiful day!

Awww, this photo is like a dream. Love Cherry Blossom season. I really wanted to go for a bike ride this morning, but still too scared to ride around too much traffic. Booo ... So I save myself for really early bike rides on the weekend!

I had some major cabin fever this winter. Luckily, spring has come early in Boston. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend, and you look adorable, of course!

@LNR--whoa, that's awesome! i've never seen a dark green one before (or even another triumph before).
@jess--the best cherry blossoms are at the tidal basin, just southwest of the washington monument, but there are also lots of trees around parts of the city
What an adorable outfit and what looks like the perfect day! Got to love DC when the cherry blossoms are in fully bloom...I was there this time last year for them! :)
DC is a beautiful place in the spring!
