Dear friends, family, readers, lurkers, and others,
It's been a fantastic two and a half years writing this blog. When I started, I always thought this would be a six-months-to-a-year project. I never anticipated that I'd love it so much, that it would grow to the size it did, or that I'd ever mix patterns :) Most of all, I could not have imagined what an incredible community of other bloggers, grad students, cancer survivors, bibliophiles, and friends this blog would expose me to.
After much thought and some heartache, I've decided it's time for me to hang up my hat here at What Would a Nerd Wear and give myself the time and space to pursue other projects. This blog began when I was immersed in a grad school community and I needed a little creative balance. It was a moment of transition between college and graduate school when I was exploring how to dress more professionally as a graduate student and graduate instructor. This space has been pivotal in helping me explore and practice how to address the sartorial challenges of being a woman, a learner, and a teacher in graduate school. It has been a lot of fun to do things I never anticipated I would: run a website, learn html, wear heels and lipstick for the first time in my adult life, and finally pack a suitcase I can lift. However, I no longer need this blog in the way I once did--I have many creative outlets in DC, I feel more confident in front of my closet, and I am finding myself increasingly craving extra time for my intellectual passions.
I am so grateful for the inspiration so many of you provided and for the kind and encouraging feedback many of you have given along the way. I have kept blogging far longer than I originally planned because of the warmth and kindness of this community, which has been the most rewarding and wonderful part of the past few years. If you'd like, I hope you'll stay in touch via email, twitter, or instagram (whatwouldanerdwear)--a girl can't cut herself off from the internet completely, after all. During this last week, I'll post past seasonal favorites to wrap up and secretly to give my future self a set of Clif's notes for whenever I'm stuck in front of my closet in the morning.
Thank you again for being a wonderful and supportive community! It's been such a fun ride and although I am looking forward to having more time for my dissertation, my friends, and my Christopher, I suspect I will miss this hugely.
Love and many thanks,
Tania

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 231 Newer› Newest»This makes me extremely sad, but I'm happy that you've found the right decision for you! Your blog is one that I run to for inspiration frequently. It's inspiring to come across lady bloggers who can do it all --- blog, go to school, have a career, etc. You are an inspiration! Especially for myself, since I'm in the midst of applying to grad school (English Lit! woot!).
Good luck with your dissertation and everything that comes after this! (I secretly hope that you'll miss it so much you'll come back!!)
nooooooooooooooooooooooooo..:(
you will be missed so much :(
So sad you're saying goodbye...I only discovered your blog recently and have really enjoyed reading your past posts. Good luck!!
rebecca, thank you for your kind words! good luck on the grad school applications, you should feel free to email if you want to chat about them :)
So sad to see you go from blogging but I'm also incredibly happy that you'll be spending more time with the stuff that really matters. If I had Instagram, I would certainly lurk there, too. Best of luck and thanks so much for the wardrobe inspiration!
Oh no! You are a real sartorial inspiration for me because you dress simply and are not a slave to trends. You look real, and real cute. I will miss you! (and I hope to see more of you on instagram!)
i will miss your blog so much! your outfits are always so chic - hopefully you will still post a few instagram shots from time to time! I'm glad you've found a good balance in your life though and are enjoying your life in DC to the full. good luck!
Sad to hear, but I just found your blog recently, so I look forward to working my way through the past entries. My proposal has just passed and I am on to the dissertation as well. Best of luck and solidarity in the road ahead :) - C
Sadness! Thanks for all the style inspiration and book suggestions! I'll surely be lurking here as I'll be an English grad student with a teaching load in the fall in need of some more growing up in the fashion department. Good luck with everything!
OH i will miss your blog so much! you were one of the only bloggers who was true and REAL ..... but i am happy for you to be taking time for yourself and knowing when to "hang up your hat". Good luck with everything!
Wow, this is a little unexpected, but looking back, it does seem like you have been tapering down a bit lately. Good luck to you in your life!
I knew this day would have to come at some point, but it's still sad! I have been a reader/lurker/occasional commenter pretty much since you started the blog. It has been my favorite fashion blog because it's accessible and pretty much matches my own taste. Thanks so much! Best of luck with everything - and I will still be following you on Twitter! :)
Farewell T! It's been great following your blog - you've been a style inspiration but also someone who I look up to for balancing life as a graduate student. So glad you're not quitting the internet all together {that would be horrible} and that I can still stalk, I mean follow, you via twitter :)
ah tania, i'm so sad to see you go, but i definitely understand the decision. thanks so much for all the time you put into your blog over the years. it's always been one of my favs.
awww, you'll be missed! but i'm glad you're doing what is right for you.
Leave it to you to make a beautifully graceful exit.
Best of luck in your future endeavours Tania. I'll be certain to keep following you on Twitter, where we can remind everyone of just how fantastic Jane Austen is.
Jess
I have enjoyed your blog so much. I wish you all the luck in the world with your future plans!
Tania, I am definitely sad to see you go, I've been following you for a couple of years now! But, having closed my own style blog for very similar reasons (finishing grad school, wanting to purse other projects), I completely understand and respect your decision. I wish you the best of luck! I hope you still talk about books you're enjoying on Twitter, I always loved your reviews!
i'm sad to see you go but excited for you to start a new chapter! and i;ll be texting you back directly....sorry for the lateness!
carrie
Aw, I am sad to see you go and I'll miss you and your beautiful outfits terribly, but I understand that this is the best decision for you. Props to you for making a lovely and gracious exit! I wish you the best of luck with school and your various other ventures!
I will miss this blog! Thank you for teaching me how to have fun with my wardrobe in grad school while looking appropriate, professional, and most importantly, cute. I'm the only girl in an all-male department, and you have no idea what an inspiration and example you've provided me. I cannot thank you enough for opening up your closet and grad life to us all.
Very sad to see you go...you're one of my favorite bloggers! I'll keep following you on Twitter and Instagram, but I'll miss all the inspiration I got from your blog. Good luck with everything!
you will be missed! best wishes to you.
Awww this makes me really sad to read! I feel like I have been in a lot of the same life situations as you - trying to find that balance between being a college student, grad student, grad instructor, and trying to transition that all into the real world (and we have the same birthday!). I have found a lot of inspiration from your blog and wish you the best!
Sad to see you go, but I understand completely. Thanks for helping inspire me to dress less like a boring nerd, and more like a professional and fashionable nerd lady!
As Jess up there said, you're totally making a graceful exit and I am not surprised at all :)
Good for you, knowing when to give it up and just spend more time doing the other things you love. Good luck on everything in the future! I'll miss your blog, but I definitely understand. And I'm thankful for all of the other ways we can stay in touch :)
Have fun with the next part of life!
-Jackie
Tania for the past two years I've ready your blog(I'm a blog reader, not a blogger tho) , liked so many of your outfits on bloglovin and copied many of them! Your blog has been so loved by me because of your simple, yet interesting twist on style and trends. You never took a trend and over-wore-it or followed every single one; this was definitely relatable to me because I'm very similar in my style. You were a daily read and I'd anticipate your next post. But, every story has an ending, and every project must by finished at one point. I am happy you decided to end the blog on a high note. You seem like such a sweet, driven person and I'm very glad you will have times for your other pursuits. I wish you all the happiness and success! Thank you for helping inspire my daily outfits and giving of your time and energies to the blog! And I already follow you on instagram! Yay! You will be missed Tania.
-Stacy (stacyishness on instagram)
I'm sad to see you go! :( I've really enjoyed following your blog over the last 6 months or so. It's been lovely to read the blog of a fellow DC-er.
I'm on twitter sometimes, so I will be sure to add you (I'm @xedri)
Best of luck with your dissertation!
-Colleen
I'll miss your posts~! Maybe you can update us on your goings-on once in a while. I started reading your blog because of the outfit posts, but now I just read it because I'm interested in your life. Haven't you found that that's how it goes with blogs?
I clicked on the instagram link, and it took me to some webpage asking about my credit score. eek! Maybe because I don't have an instagram myself?
Anyway, good luck with everything. I'll miss your radiant smile. (I hope that doesn't sound creepy)
I was so sad to see this post come up on my reader! You are one of the first blogs I started following and still one of my favorites. I am happy for you for making this decision for yourself, but selfishly sad that I will not longer be able to steal outfit ideas from you! :) Good luck, Tania!
Thank you, Tania for sharing your life and outfits with me (and a lot of others). I am very sad, as your blog has always been my favorite, but good luck and have fun pursuing all your goals!
Lynzey
So sad! I've absolutely loved your blog, your style and your intellect. I was an English major in college and loved hearing your grad school stories. All the best in your post-blog pursuits.
So sad to see you go, i love peeking in here and seeing what you are up to!
Best wishes on your future plans.
I'll miss you a lot... However, I understand you :) Good luck!
I am sure I will only add to the growing sentiment that you will be missed. Your posts have served as an excellent reminder to me that simple and classic are not dirty words. I love your style and I hope that you really enjoy what you move onto. If you ever feel like dropping back by, I will definitely be keeping my google reader active for your site. Thanks for all the inspiration, Tania.
You will be missed and kudos to you for recognizing your needs and getting them met. You were a constant source of inspiration for my nerdy self, and I appreciate all your hard work and devotion you put into your blog. Thank you, and Namaste.
I've read your blog for awhile and never posted but I wanted to say "goodbye" and "thank you." Not only do I love your style but also your approach to style blogging. Best of luck with everything!
Tania, although I have never commented on your blog before, I have followed it religiously for over a year and a half. I will truly miss all of your outfit posts; you are truly inspirational going to school and running this blog! Good luck with your future endeavors :)
Best of luck to you!! Thank you for all of your posts and book recomendations!! From one book nerd to another I will miss those the most!
Good luck, lovely lady!
Thank you for your inspiration - I will be sad to see you go, but I wish you all the best!!
Sorry to see you go! Thank you for all the ideas you've shared and the little community you created here.
oh, no!! I LOVE your blog!! It was my first ever fashion blog <3!! You have taught me so much and dared me to be adventurous in my closet!! Thanks you so much, you will be very missed....
Noooooooo... commence the five stages of grief.
Tania,
I am sad to see you go. You were one of the first blogs I found when I started reading six months ago, and you have always been kind and considerate and friendly. I loved this goodbye- so well-written, thoughtful and sincere.
I wish you the best of luck and I will definitely be in touch!
Katie- Hems For Her
omg! This is so sudden. I hope you will leave this blog up for reference (and maybe to look back on with a sense of happy nostalgia)...I think I actually have been reading for two years (haven't really commented though, I'm too nervous!) and I think you have influenced a lot of my style. Just recently, your light packing experiment has inspired me to clean out my closet and get new clothes for spring (but also because I haven't purchased new clothes in a year or so...eep).
We will all miss you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the inspiration to wear more than just a top & jeans every day. Many well wishes for all your new & future endeavors! <3
I always knew this day would have to come but I'm still so sad to read this! You have always been one of my first blogs to check in the morning and I have always really enjoyed your clevel writing and your beautiful outfits. You will certainly be missed!
But the time always comes to focus on new projects, the dissertation, life, etc and style blogs do tend to run their course. Any interest in starting a new blog about the next chapter in your life? Life in DC as a grad student who rides bikes? Deep thoughts on feminism and academia? With some book reviews thrown in? Ok, I know that doesn't sound all too different from WWANW but you know... I'm just trying to ease the pain of parting.
Seriously though. If you start a new blog, you have to let me know.
I wish you all the best with all the things taking up your time now and have no doubt that you will manage them with the poise and wit that you have brought to this blog these past couple of years. The blogosphere is a better place for having had you contribute to it.
xo

Oh my goodness! It's the end of an era!
Tania, you have been such an inspiration to so many of us, and I know I'm not the only one who will still comb through the archives occasionally for outfit ideas, or just for fun. You've created such a fresh, original, honest, and beautiful space here, resisting the style blog conventions and clichés to build something that was all your own. Your interactions with your readers in the comments section and on Formspring have always been so very thoughtful. Your wisdom and integrity shine through unmistakably. I know that the projects you pour your energies into next will be as fine and as successful as your blog has been.
Best of luck to you. It's been great getting to know you-- stay in touch!
Emily W.A.Q.A.W.V.W.W.W.
Sad. I just discovered your blog yesterday! I was looking forward to it. I have begun to look through the archives, however, and I love your ideas. :) All the best.
Good luck in the future!!
Thanks so much for your blog entertainment :)
Oh, sweet Tania! Like so many other readers and fellow nerds, I am sad to hear the news. Once I discovered your blog, I looked forward to your daily posts, and I am going to miss your blog presence on the interwebs. Thanks to you and your shining example, I started experimenting with extraneous belts(!), Five Bamboo, tall boots, the famous Target lace skirt, mixing black with brown, and finally, owning my own nerdiness more vocally on my own blog. You are a class act, even on a forum as snarky as Get Off My Internets, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Have fun, dress well, and we will miss you. xoxo
I am so sad that we will not get to "see" you everyday anymore, but I am very happy for you and wish you well in your future ventures. You were one of the first blogs that I started reading when I started my own blog and you are very inspirational both as an intellectual writer and a style inspiration. Take care of yourself Tania!
When I opened your post up in Google Reader, I literally shouted "NO!!!" Obviously, this was a very selfish gut reaction--and while I will GREATLY miss your blog, I completely understand where you're coming from and I wish you the best in all of your endeavors. I look forward to any and all updates from you via Twitter!
Thank you for being so open and being in all of our lives. You were one of the first fashion bloggers I began reading--and you inspired me to start my own blog, as well!
Best wishes,
Whitney
I somehow stumbled upon your blog last night when I was looking up how to do a sock bun. I liked your blog so much I came back today to see this news! I'm sad to see you won't be posting anymore...but I'm also happy to go through all your archives : D Best of luck and thank you!
Best of luck and Thanks for all your inspiration!
Like many of those who have commented, I've been reading your blog for quite some time but have always been a lurker. I'm horribly sad to see you go. I read many, many blogs and out of all of them, yours has always been one of my favorites. I understand your desire to persue other goals though and wish you the best!
(I wouldn't complain if you popped in from time to time to update us on how you're doing though! Haha. :) I love DC as a city and seeing what fun things people do there.)
Whaaaaaaaat. I can't even muster an exclamation mark, that's how in shock I am. So as I sit here and process this, I am sad (you were my first!), but I get it, and I'm glad you'll still be interneting. If I were you, I'd be very proud to have this space to look back on.
Ah, moving on eh! I'll miss you, your words and your wisdom and your neat style. I wish you all the best in the future dear lady!
oh, no! selfishly, i'm very upset, as yours is one of my absolute favorite fashion blogs. on the other hand, i absolutely understand from your perspective. oh sigh. good luck with everything, and i guess i'll see you on twitter!
Aww, I'm sad to see you go but I'm glad you are moving on for a good reason. I'll miss seeing your outfits and book recommendations! Gooooooood luck!
Oh no! This makes me so sad!
i will miss your blog so much! over the past few months you have swiftly moved to the top of my list. thank you for all your wonderful posts! good for you for continue to follow your passions. i wish you the best with everything!
I'll admit: I'm sad. But, I'm also really grateful for the example you've set the past few years. Thank you so much, Tania, and best of luck!
Good luck with everything! Thanks for sharing the past 2.5 years with us. :-)
Oh no! But you're my favourite! Oh well. It's good to recognize when something has run it's course. Good luck and thank you for all the wonderful posts.
I'm sad :( I have to say that your blog was very pivotal in me finding my way around my closet. Thank you. You will be missed. Good luck in all of your future endeavors!!!
Oh no! You're one of my very favorite read-every-day blogs. I wish you the best of luck with your dissertation and life in DC, but will be sad to see you go!
sadness!!! :( I have always enjoyed reading your blog and seeing your great outfits, they've inspired me on how to use my own closet more creatively. Will miss you, but good luck with all your future adventures <3
(P.S. I've been a bit of a lurker up till now. I am officially delurkifying...too late >.<)
so sad to see you go but all the best of luck and happiness in your future endeavours!
Yours is one of the first blogs to inspire me sartorially - I'll be sorry to see you go, but good luck in everything! It's been fun.
Oh, what a shame! But all good things must eventually come to an end. Best of luck to you in your future, non-blogging endeavors!
Noo!!!!!!!! You'll be sorely missed but we can't all blog forever. At least, I can still stalk you on Twitter? :)
So sad to hear this. You will be sorely missed by many in the blogosphere. I've been a dedicated reader (if not an active commenter) for the last year and a half, and I can honestly say you've given me so much inspiration...and not just about what to wear. Thanks for sharing your life with us, and best wishes in your future adventures :)
aww im so sad :( wish you the best!
Noooo!!! your blog was one of the first blogs that inspired me and that I started following - good luck for the dissertation and everything else going to miss you
Well, I'm pouting, but I completely understand.
Thank you for being an incredible inspiration! You will be sorely missed.
i always considered myself a fashionable nerd so i was quite pleased when i discovered your blog...you will be missed! and good luck on your dissertation, though i'm sure you dont need luck as you've put in so much work already, so instead i say - Godspeed! xoxox
I have adored your blog for a long time. And although I will miss your blog, I totally understand your decision. I wish you all the best!
i am overwhelmed! you all are so kind. i wish i knew how to change my comment feature so i could respond to each comment individually, i'd love to give each of you a big hug.
i promise to give new favorite books shout-outs on twitter and to occasionally post what i'm wearing on instagram.
much much love! XO, tania
All the best for you!!!
Aaaawwwww mannn!!! It's so sad to hear about this. You were one of the bloggers that inspired me to do my own blog and now things have come to an end. I know this is a hard decision to have come to but I wish you all the best in all that you do and all future endeavors that come your way. I hope that we can continue to stay in touch. Thanks for everything and good luck!
Your blog has helped me get dressed so many mornings. :) Will you keep the blog online for future reference? I need it, haha.
Best of luck with the future!!
You will be missed. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors.
http://shannonhearts.blogspot.com
Sad! I had just started following you and getting into DO blogging - you were my fave inspiration! Good luck girl! :)
Noooooooooooooo! So sad to see you go! You've provided so much inspiration throughout my own grad school experience and I've loved your creative and witty posts. Although I'm about to defend my thesis and (almost) no longer in grad school, I'm going to miss these posts A LOT. Thank you for the ride and all the best to you for your future exciting endeavours!! Love from a fellow book nerd :)
I'm really sad to see you go!I'm sorry that I didnt' comment more on this blog but I truly wish you all the best in the world. You are a very smart and strong woman and I'm glad I discoverd your blog when I did! You're are truly inspiring!
All the best
Me gusta tu blog y lo leo siempre en inglés para practicar aunque ahora te escriba en español.
Te voy a echar mucho de menos. Ha sido un placer conocerte. Que la vida te sonrÃa.
Besos mil.
Tania,
First of all, congratulations on the incredible growth you've experienced in the last few years!
I have to echo what so many others have said, though - we'll miss you so much!! (In fact, I've already started following you on Twitter.) You were the first personal style blog I started reading and have truly been an inspiration for me to change how I dress myself and view my wardrobe. I've pointed so many people to your "Grad Student Essentials" post, have become infinitely more confident rocking the (non)-blogger bun, tucking in (especially to skirts!), wearing heels on a regular basis, pattern mixing, etc. I am 100% sure that I've bought things in the last year (or started to get heavy use from things I already owned) based on your posts - notably, a button-up denim skirt and a $3 yellow skirt I had from an old Halloween costume.
Sorry for the novel of a comment (though looking up, it seems like many have been long-winded with their good-byes as well). In almost 10 (!) years of blog reading, I've seen many bloggers close up shop and move on, but I will truly miss WWANW more than any other than I can think of. When I started reading, I had just moved to the midwest from NYC, and now you're on the east coast, but keep us posted if you're ever in Chicago! I hope it doesn't sound too stalker-like to say I would love to grab a cup of coffee with you sometime.
Again, best of luck with EVERYTHING and thank you for being such a huge inspiration.
-Elise
p.s. PLEASE don't take down the archives... I'm not sure I could continue to get dressed without them!
I will miss your book reviews! Please get on goodreads!
You will be missed much, but I commend you for pursing whatever makes you happy! Life is to be enjoyed, and it's been a pleasure to follow the bit of your journey you have shared!
xx Vivian @ http://diamondsandtulle.blogspot.com
It seems I always discover great blogs just as they are ending. I'm glad that you're in a great place in life, though, and wish you much success! I'll echo the others who have asked for you to keep the archives up and keep posting book reviews :) Thank you, and good luck!
I've grown to love reading your posts in the morning and will be so sad to see them (and you!) go. Good luck in your new adventures and I hope to see you on another blog someday!
Oh, I'm so sad, too! You and I are in very different seasons of life, but I've always found your wardrobe and styling choices to be so inspiring. I totally understand the pull to a new season of life. And I'm glad to get to keep up with your adventures on Instagram.
Best wishes, pretty lady!
Oh boo :( Your blog is one of my favourites, and I have drawn inspiration from so many of your outfits. That being said, I do realize that it is incredibly time consuming and that you need time for the other things in your life. I'll have to look you up on Twitter. Best of luck with your dissertation. I'll miss you!
Dorothy
elise! let's definitely get coffee next time i am in chicago! i am there often and would love to hang out. email me (whatwouldanerdwear at gmail) and i'll keep you updated when i visit! XO
I stood tip-toe upon a little hill,
The air was cooling, and so very still,
That the sweet buds which with a modest pride
Pull droopingly, in slanting curve aside,
Their scantly leaved, and finely tapering stems,
Had not yet lost their starry diadems
Caught from the early sobbing of the morn.
I've been reading your blog for ages off and on, but never posted. I've gotten so much inspiration from you and I've really enjoyed it. I'm sorry to see the blog come to an end, but I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors! I'll be following you on twitter (@cakelindsay). All the best!
~Lindsay (graphic designer in Western Mass)
sniff...I will certainly miss your posts, but I'm excited for you in this new season of your life! I hope it's the best one yet :) best of luck on your dissertation!
I'll miss your posts, but I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors!
I stepped away (maybe for good, who knows) and have really enjoyed my time off. Enjoy your new found time and creative pursuits!
All the best to you!! I will miss your posts!
Tania!! Though I've never commented, I stumbled across your blog some time ago and just love it...and will miss it! It's been great to see your creative eye and your gift for the written word combined in such a fun and thoughtful way. What a long way we've come from the Whitman "going out" ensembles of hoodies and flip-flops! (Though I always have a place for them in my heart...and closet.) Keep up the great work academically and sartorially, and all the best to you on your new adventures! - Amanda G. ('06)
i will miss the inspiration you gave to me.
enjoy you´re new projects.
tina from germany
Oh. I can say I'm really really sad, and at first I thought you were kidding. You are the most real and down-to-earth person I've ever seen. You're original to the core and I hope you will always be like this. And I know you will. I understand that this takes up too much time and sometimes it is just better to see the real world with your own eyes and not through a computer screen. That said, I hope you will update...I don't know...once in six months, whenever, just to say you are ok, because there are some people that really care. I wish you a gorgeous, pain-free and amazing life with the people you love. Many many kisses, a fan of yours <3
Congratulations on making this decision and the changes to come in your life! Although, selfishly, I am sad to see you leave this corner of the internet. Of all the style blogs I read, I connect with yours the most - with your casual, classic style, and the fun little details you sneak in. You have inspired me to dress more confidently in my own life, and for that I thank you! I follow you on Instagram as well, so I'm glad to know I'll still see some updates, and hopefully some outfits for old-times sake.
Best of luck to you!
aww sad! this is the second blog today that i've seen post up that they're done. you will be missed but i'm sure there is much in store for you.
Lindsay
An end to a beginning, and a beginning to a new end. Good luck Tania, and thank you for sharing :)
noo! i love your down to earth personality and sensible but still fashionable style. plus your petite like me so its even easier to translate your outfits! AH and i'm going to miss your amazing book selections! okay this is getting me really sad now that i've thought about it lol.. GOOD LUCK on all your future projects though and i wish you all the best!
Noooooooo! WWANW is, hands down, my favorite blog right now. I just don't know what I'll do without your (nearly) daily dose of cute fashion and funny quips. Good luck to you, sad day for me.
I have to chime in and say I'm a bit sad too! Your blog was one of the first I started reading, and your fashion is just so down-to-earth and accessible (especially refreshing in the fashion blogosphere). I wish you a thousand times good luck on your dissertation and next steps in life! And I hope that we are still able to meet up a few times in DC!
- Hannah
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*sigh* I understand the whole real life/dissertation pressure, but I can honestly say that I always found this blog a joy to read, even though I've never commented before. I am very sad to see you close your doors.
Good luck in all of your future endeavors!
I'm sad that you're going, but in a way I'm happy for you too. I hope that through my own blogging I'll be able to reach a point of satisfaction in my life that you have in yours. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us not only your outfits, but pieces of your life as well. Good luck!
xoxo,
Genie
P.S. I'm going to find you on Twitter & Instagram :)
Thanks for sharing your style with us, I have truly enjoyed reading your blog and got inspired from your outfits. Your mum is right, the simple outfits fit you best! And since you already might think I am old (I am not, I just study old people) I would like to give you some advice from someone who have already travelled the dissertation journey. Enjoy and take care of your time as a grad student! Although it is great to be a doctor (hurray for higher salary!), you will never ever get as much time to dig into new areas and methods as when you are a grad student. According to me the best part of the dissertation journey was the last year when you get to sum up your research and discuss it from different angels! I hope you will enjoy your ride as much as I did! Bon Voyage!
Aw, I'm sad to see you go, but you gotta do what makes you happy! See you on instagram!
Hi Tania,
Like countless others I will be so sad to see your blog go. I'm also a postgrad and it's been great seeing not just your outfits, but getting to see what life is like for others.
You should feel so proud of what you have created here.
Best of luck for the future!
Becky
You will be missed. We wish you all the luck in the world.
http://stylishsass.blogspot.com
awww. We'll miss you here! Good luck with everything and enjoy DC :)
Ah! I know this has been a long time coming, but somehow I still feel caught off guard by your sign-off - and, like so many others, I will miss your posts here on WWANW. When I started reading style blogs in 2009, yours became a fast favorite; your wit and charm shine through in all of your posts, your book recommendations have become indispensable to me (even though I read them on a Kindle like a heathen!), and I cannot count the number of my own 'what will I wear??' crises that have ended happily in wholesale plagiarism of your outfits. I've felt so fortunate to become your friend this past year, both inside and outside of BlogLand. I admire your decision to spend your time on the things that matter to you most, and your graceful acknowledgement that while you may have outgrown your own need for this space, the value you've found in this community isn't diminished in the least. You're a class act to the last.
Em
(And as a P.S.: I'll be visiting my folks the weekend of April 21st - any chance you'd up be for another Unique Thrift adventure?)
Bah! Humbug. You are one of the few bloggers who can spell and use proper grammar, so it will be especially hard for this Grammar Cop. Also, you may not remember this, but we bonded a bit over "Lolita" on Twitter. I'll be stalking you there from now on, okay?
Good luck for the future :) I never really comment but I love your blog :) I hope that you have enjoyed your time in the blogging world x
So sad to hear this but I wish you the very best!
Even though I know I'll see you since we live in the same city & I know we'll keep in touch, this makes me super sad. I will definitely miss your outfits and your clever writing. But I'm glad you finally feel comfortable & confident, both with outfits & DC! See you soon hopefully! <3
:( I am going to miss you so much! Wishing you all the happiness in the world with your new projects, and remember we'll always be here if you want to come back ;) x x x x
And I just found your website! I am in my fifth year in graduate school and have always had trouble finding a balance between work and life. Since I work in a lab, I usually wear junky t-shirts and jeans, but in the last few weeks I've been reading your blog, you've inspired me to put a little more effort into what I wear. Thank you and good luck with everything!
What surprising news! I'll be sad to see this blog end but I'm happy that you're not leaving the Internet entirely. I'll be right there on the instagram following along. It is, after all, my new favorite creative outlet. In a way it's like a mini blog. So, thank you for all of your dedication to this space and I'm so glad I found it. I'll see you around the internet :) All the best, Lisa.
Oh no! I just discovered your blog yesterday and was very excited to see new posts. You have amazing style and you've definitely inspired me to look at my closet differently. Good Luck with everything :)
Congratulations on having met your goals of creativity and a more grown-up fashion sense! You wrote a great blog. Best of luck with your new endeavors.
I only just discovered your blog a short time ago and have truly enjoyed it. You're a fantastic person and I've loved seeing what you have to share with the world. Good luck on your other adventures!
I know how long this idea has been percolating in that wonderful mind of yours--I'm so glad you've found a path that makes you feel happy and confidant. I will miss your voice here immensely--yours was the first outfit-of-the-day blog that I ever read, and it's no small thanks to you that I started trying to carve out my own little corner of the internet. That being said, there are always changes, and I think that one of the hardest parts of blogging is the feeling that momentum somehow stops every time you start to write a post. I can't wait to hear what you're working on now!
Even more, I'm so glad that your blog led me to "find" you when you moved to DC. Isn't that the best part of this whole gig?--finding friends who move from inside the screen to real life? I'm so lucky you've ended up my friend, and I wish you the very, very, very best with EVERYTHING in the future!
I love that you have always kept it real. Best of luck! You've got a bright future :)
Oh no! Such sad news!
I very much understand, being in the midst of a dissertation myself, but will still miss one of my favorite daily reads :)
Good luck!
hey girl, i've probably been following you for about 4 months, and its been a joy. its great to find a local blogger! ive discovered how to use my closet more effectively, some good reads, and also found good blogs (such as a beautiful mess). i will sorely miss you, but hey maybe i'll randomly bump into you one day, i live in maryland after all :)
Aw! This is sad and a surprise! Congratulations on moving on and a toast to new beginnings! :)
Thank you for having kept this blog for as long as you did! I found your blog roughly when I started grad school, so it was great to find someone else who loved books and clothes! It was a great refuge when life seemed hard -whether it was struggling through a thesis or getting dressed in the morning. (And it's amazing how often one leads to the other!). Maybe there will be a time in the future you'll be back, in any blog form!
I've been reading your blog for a year and half every day and I only read 4 blogs. So I'll miss you. You have given me great styling tips and also wonderful layering and belting inspiration !
Thank You,
Camille
aw! We will miss you but as another blogger/grad student I can completely understand your need to move on :) Take care!
And maybe one day we will cross paths in DC and Ill freak out like you're a celebrity. Plus if you come to my work (Gap on conn ave) id give you the star treatment. ;)
Oh Tania! I can't believe it! I just ended my blog a couple weeks ago too (but only after a year) and am missing it terribly. You are right in that the community is probably the best part. I kind of teared up when I read you post. I think it's definitely more than just merely dressing oneself that we run these types of blogs. Good luck with everything!
I'm sad to see you leave the blog world as you've been my favorite fashion blogger. You seem like such a "real" person- you talk about life issues, work with what you have, and show how to make fashion attainable.
You seem like someone I'd be fortunate to be friends with! :)
I wish you much luck and happiness!
I am so sad to see you go! Your blog was one of the first I started to follow 18 months ago & you have inspired many, many outfits. I look forward to your recaps & secretly hope you change your mind.
Kel xo
Oh, no! Yours has always been my favorite blog, hands down. I'll miss coming here every day! You totally revamped my style and made me realize I could be comfortable in teaching clothes while still looking put together and cute. Thanks for the constant inspiration, and good luck in all your future endeavors. Perhaps we'll serve on a faculty together someday!
I'm so sad to hear this but I'm so happy you've devoted so much time to it! You've been a great inspiration to me and I always enjoyed coming to see what you'd come up with. Best of luck!
Oh my gosh! I'm so sad to hear you'll be moving on, but I'm so happy and excited for your future! You've been a huge inspiration and friend through my blogging experience, and I'll definitely be staying in touch!! You're the best! xo
It's always been a pleasure reading your blog, and while I'm sad that it's coming to an end, I'm happy that you'll be starting new projects. I wish you all the best in your new adventures! <3
i will miss your blog tons but i hope that the archives will stay up for inspiration. good luck with all of your future endeavors!
Oh no! Like the other readers, I will be sad to see you go. Yours is one of the first fashion blogs I started reading and one of the reasons I've gotten hooked on blogs! I'd say I'm surprised, but I'm not, since you've mentioned this a few times.
I really hope that you will come back with a sporadic post every now and again. I mean, I'm sure even if it's once a month or so, we'd all be here and happy to read just as much as when you posted almost everyday!
I felt like this was coming, and I totally understand. But you were one of my first blog loves, and I will be sad to see you go! I hope you keep your pinterest updated with book reviews!
I feel like a senior in high school signing your year book... here it goes: Tania! So sad to hear I won't find you at WWANW, but I'm more than happy for your evolving life and projects to come! I'm thankful for your blog as it has allowed me to (virtually) meet you and follow along - and I will continue to follow via Twitter! Glad you're loving DC as well!
You are such an inspiration. I've been lurking for almost 2 years now, and I've always looked forward to your well-written posts, your beautiful outfits, and that general glow of awesomeness. Best wishes to you! Enjoy the time you've given yourself, and whenever you feel less than totally great, read all these comments! You are a talented and beautiful woman.
Tania, I understand, but I am going to miss you! You are one of the first blogs I started reading and one of the inspirations for me creating my own blog! Thank you for your kind words over the last few months, they've meant a lot to me. Some of my favorite posts from WWANW have been the April Fools ones with Christopher, the red pants posts, the ethical shopping posts, the lesson plans, and the ones when your sister or mom took the photos. Best of luck to you in your next creative challenges!

I'm going to miss your blog. Your blog was always one of my favorites because I loved your nerdiness and looked forward to reading it everyday. Your outfits always inspired me. Good luck with your future projects!
Congratulations on moving onto your next stages in life! I have been a dedicated follower for some time and have always felt that your blog is a nice refreshing dose of REAL CLOSETS! Real experimentation, and not contrived or overly crazy - very real. I will miss your down to earth but fashionable style but I wish you all the best!
whaaaaaat! girl!!! oh i'm so happy for you! and also i am BUMMED! i'll miss seeing you on my computer! glad we'll still have twitter and instagram. hey ps. come up to new york sometime and crash on my couch why don't ya??!?! xoxoxoxoxoxox to you, classy lady. and thank you a MILLION times for your comment today. it honestly, for reals, SERIOUSLY made me cry. such an honor to know you sister. xoxo
OMG!!! I just shed a tear! Loved your blog...but completely understandable!! Best wishes for your future and I'll pray for your continued success
Good job with this project, I've loved What Would a Nerd Wear. Best of luck!
Oh, Tania!
I don't even have words to express what I am feeling right now.
When I created my blog back in 2009 you had just started your. I randomly found WWANW. I fell in love immediatly! You're such a dear. I keep the skirt you gave as a proof that through the internetfriendship can cross physical barriers. I could really feel your dedication and love when I got the package.
May God bless you in all your ways.
I'm cheering for you, girl!
Miss you here already!
Larysse
Your blog was really very nice! Thank you so much for all the inpiring pictures and posts.
Lots of love from Germany!
Jola
Oh no! I mean, Oh yay! I admire you for being able to clarify your goals and know where you want to direct your attention, but I will miss this blog. Yours was the very first style blog I ever read, and it is still my favorite. As a fellow nerd, I enjoyed your writing style and literary references. Your style was approachable but lovely, and something I felt I could actually try to replicate, unlike many other blogs with fashion-plate posts made up of gifted items beyond my budget. I feel like you really hit your stride this past year in terms of style. You don't need all the extra swag. From my perspective, you create unique, beautiful outfits with what you have and what works for you. I've never commented before, because I just felt it was a little presumptuous of me(which is silly, because you put the content out there on the public internets!), but now I wish I had commented on all my favorite looks!
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. I'm from the Midwest originally, now going to grad school in Norway, and moving to DC next fall for my husband's internship, so feel free to post any cool tips about DC on your Twitter or Instagram! (But also, don't if you don't have time!) :D
All the best!
Margaret
nooooo won't u check in once in a while?? :(
haha in all seriousness though, good luck w everything! i've been a lurker for the past yr or so, u've created a lovely space here. best wishes!
Wow, I only just discovered your blog not long ago and I have fallen in love with it already. It will be very sad to see you go. It's been wonderful looking at the smart, classy outfits you put together and reading your well-written posts. You will be very missed girl! All the best with your future plans, you'll knock em dead!!
Megan @ Storybook Love Affair
All the best! I am sad I won't get to see more of your outfits - as they were always so inspiring. But I know you will be moving onto bigger and better things!

I'm sorry blogger won't let me respond to your comments individually (or better, email you back, which I would like to do!)--
Amanda g--I had no idea you were reading! but I'm so glad there are other whitties hanging around here.
Ann--Yes definitely! I will check in at big milestones, if there's anyone left to care :)
Margaret--If you're moving to DC, you should email me (whatwouldanerdwear at gmail) and we can chat about the city!
My dear Larysse--a thousand hugs to you!! We will stay in touch on Facebook :)
Thrifted Shift--thank you so much for your kind words. They are so touching!
MK/Linley--I know, right? This feels like the best set of yearbook signatures ever.
Amanda--I hope we could (and I hope we both get faculty jobs someday). You'll have to tell me where you're applying and if you'll be at MLA next year.
Sarah in DC--I'll come down soon, that Gap is a block away from Christopher's work and I bought some jeans there this fall. When do you work? :)
G and Hannah--I'll still be at happy hour, if you'll have me :)
From Suns to Moons--of course I remember and we can joint-stalk each other on twitter, ok? Also I am ashamed to say that I always find the WORST typos after I hit "publish." I shudder to think what typos remain even hee hee.
the other emily--yes, we should go! I'll email you.
fourseasonsonewardrobe--thank you for your incredibly encouraging and kind words. I agree that simple fits me best (my mama is a smart cookie). And thank you for the wise words about grad school; I'm trying to enjoy every day and the freedom to research and pursue my interests (hence carving out a little more time for it). Thank you again.
Oh no! I have so enjoyed your blog over the last few years. Although it would be selfish on my part to wish that you would continue I can also understand and appreciate your reasons for saying good-bye. I will truly miss the blog, particularly, the book recommendations. One more last set of book recommendations and a look back at the times that Christopher spoofed your sartorial selections before you finally say goodbye would be appreciated. Best of luck in the future and I truly hope that you and Christopher have a wonderful life together. You deserve it.
Oh my gosh! Really gutted actually, I love your blog and i love seeing what you get up to. I've always found your humbleness and sweetness just so addictive! But, being a master's student myself, I'm pretty amazed you've find the time for it thus far with your busy life! I really hope you'll let us know if you head back again if the time feels right. Sending you good luck for all of the things that are ahead of you, and Christopher
xxx
So sad to see you go! I've really enjoyed your blog! Please keep posting cool outfits you find on Pinterest...that can serve as continued inspiration! Good luck with life!
I am so very sad to see you go. To be completely honest with you, you are my favorite style blogger. You always blog with honesty and integrity, and I can tell that you are blogging to accomplish the things you say you want to accomplish. You are so graceful and thoughtful. Plus, as someone with an English degree, I loved reading your book recommendations and grad school saga! You will be missed, my friend. Good luck to you and Christopher in all the things ahead. xo
I understand, but I'm sad to see you go, especially since I only discovered your blog half a year ago. As the Stephanie said above, you're my favorite style blogger. You wear real-life clothes on a real-life budget with your own style. Good luck with your future endeavors.
I will REALLY miss your blog! You might be surprised how much you've helped my style. I completely understand your reasons for shutting down, but know how much you'll be missed! Thanks!!
This is devastating! I was just thinking to myself how much I love not only looking at but reading your extremely well written blog - and then I discover that you are leaving. I will really miss your voice as well as your style. Hope your next chapter is a wonderful and rewarding adventure! Bye!
Tania,
This makes me so sad, and I will sorely miss reading your blogposts every week. I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavors!
Kimberly (a lurker ;) )
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
(But seriously, good luck in all your new pursuits.)
(But even more seriously, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!)
I will definitely miss your blog! On the bright side, there will be one less blog I simply must check before I start my work. ;) Good luck in all you do!
Oh, I'm gonna miss you so much! I've been inspired not only from your style, but also from your mentality and your lifestyle! You deserve the best! Good luck with your life! I hope to "meet" you again!

Longtime lurker. Will miss your blog.
Sorry to you go. Best of luck! I'm in the d.c. area too. Let's cross
our fingers for a mild summer:)
Awww. I'm sad, but this is totally understandable--I'm so glad your blog has served its purpose for you, and has been SUCH a treat for all of us. Good luck with finishing the dissertation and I hope you continue to love exploring D.C. Next time I see pass you on the street in Mt. P/Columbia Heights/Adams Morgan, I will definitely say hi!
Your blog has been such a treat to follow. Thank you for inspiring me to step my work wardrobe up a notch!
All the very best and much joy for the future.
I've enjoyed your blog so much in the long time that I've lurked here. Your archives are the first I turn to in a moment of sartorial distress. I love your style, simplicity, book suggestions, and wit. Good luck with everything and stay classy :)
I've just lurked on your blog, but I've so enjoyed it. Thank you!
I will miss your blog quite a bit! Sorry for never commenting, but you have great style and I always enjoyed your posts. Good luck in your future projects!
AMG! SO SAD! BYEEEEEEE! D:
Like many others above, I've been a lurker but wanted to come out and say THANK YOU! You will be missed and I've really enjoyed reading all your posts over the past couple years. Good luck with your future projects!
Will miss your posts dearly! Your outfits always remind me that simple (and I don't mean simple as a bad word - so many times it seems like it comes across that way) outfits are pretty much always the prettiest ones. Will miss your style! :)
I do not approve of this blog post. You should have checked with me first. You are not allowed to quit, you know that right? You will be so missed and may I go so far as to say the internet just will not be the same without you.
sister from another IP address,
Kendi
So - I've been lurking on your blog for almost as long as you've been writing it, and now I finally have to comment to say: I'm so sorry to see you go, I've loved your posts and all the outfit inspiration, and I wish you all the best in the future. Thank you!
A.
We'll miss you! Your blog has truly inspired me so much. Keep up the great dressing. :)
I discovered your blog only recently, and I am so sad to see you go! Good luck with everything:)
Also a lurker, and also wanting to say a huge thank you. I started reading your blog after I first graduated and started my first real job. I have taken so much inspiration from your lovely, graceful and endlessly... classy blog. It's a nice reprieve from the seemingly boundless narcissism of teh internets. So long, and best wishes.
Jess
I feel like I'm a little late to the party, but THANK YOU for the inspiration you've provided for us all. I've thoroughly enjoyed following your blog for the past year or so. You'll be missed!
Thanks for the time and energy you put into your posts. Lots of lovely inspiration. Best of luck!
that was a great blog. greetings from dresden, germany.
You will be missed. Thanks for all the great posts and inspiration, and all the best to you. :)
As a long time "lurker" on your great blog, I'm sad to see you hang it up. I have so enjoyed your posts and photos and have you to thank for many cool ways to tie scarves.
Just this morning I learned through another blog that we went the same college, though I graduated long ago in 1985. All the best to you in your next adventures.
Oh my god!!! I've been away for a few days, and I've just seen the news on here! : ( (honestly, i was a little teary eyed reading the last post! aha)
I won't lie Tania, I'm a bit heartbroken to know WWANW is over, as yours has been one of my favourite blog since I found it almost two years ago, but I totally understand why it's time for you to move on!
More than anything, I just want to say thank you for having sustained such a consistently lovely and interesting blog, it's been a pleasure watching your style change and grow, I've appreciated the literary infusions in their various forms, and being a fellow grad student, I've found it inspiring to see proof that a full-time academic can 1) remove pyjama's pretty regularly and 2) have, and thrive at, endeavours outside of a dissertation!
I guess overall, I just wanted to say thank you for the time and effort you put into this blog, and know, without a doubt, that you will be missed. All the best to you! xoxo
Thank you for your blog. Take care:)
