(denim skirt from spotted moth; bdg cranberry cords; gap black dress; loft orange cardigan; gap white sweater; j. crew factory denim shirt; target striped tee; h&m polka dot blouse; the poor picture quality is all my responsibility)
Overall, I think round one was a bit more successful, but I was happy with this one, too. I'm beginning to think 8 pieces is enough for any trip I'd need to go on. In any case, I have been clothed throughout my trip, and that's what counts the most, right? I'll be back Monday! xo

Have a wonderful trip!! I love these outfits. You have totally inspired me to pack more efficiently on my next trip :)
Thank you so much for the inspiration of packing light! I am going on a trip next month for 8 days and can only bring a small bag. I was nervous about it but you have inspired me!

I love this idea! I fly RyanAir in Europe (10kg max carry-on, and you're only allowed 1 item each, and they are very strict about it) and your previous post on this totally inspired me to mix-up stuff but still feel like I could switch up outfits (while allowing the sign. other to share half the bag space).
Your outfits are all lovely! I think this one is just as successful as the first one. And, good call on not counting shoes. I wouldn't have, either.
I haven't shopped at Ruche before and am always a little wary about buying online from stores I'm not familiar with. Just curious on the quality and their return policy and if it's pretty easy to do...that sort of thing. You seem to have a pretty decent selection of their clothes! Thanks!
we're all going to need you to start posting outfits regularly again!! Enough with this travel. I love the inspiration on the blog :) Hope all is well and you're just traveling for spring break, love ALL of your outfits.
These posts have been such fun. I always try to pack light when travelling, with some success. It's usually the stuff I buy when I'm away is the killer ...

Brilliant, as usual. Love the way you've styled that red/orange cardigan! Now come back to DC, kthanks.
My favourite is the 3rd!
Don't know how you do it! I am bookmarking this for the next time I travel. Fingers crossed,

All of those outfits are fab! Great job.
you are great at mixing and matching! I love the polka dot top!
This is so helpful! I tend to way overpack...I can rationalize including practically any item in my suitcase!
susan, thank you friend! all is well, i'm just traveling for break and working on my dissertation out west :) i'm looking forward to getting back to DC and even more, to christopher getting back! i'll be back in business soon.
@lindsey--yes, i have lots of stuff from ruche and i really really like them! their clothes are very affordable and i often love the designs, and their customer service is spectacular--i have yet to return anything so i can't comment on the return policy but all my interactions with customer service (questions about sizing, requests for packages to be sent late so i don't miss them when i'm traveling, etc) have been handled beautifully (even when i am writing to them from my regular old google account totally separate from my blog). they also ship faster than light. the only thing to watch for is the quality of materials if that's something you're picky about--i tend to prefer cotton and even polyester to rayon so i always double check what things are made of before i make a purchase, since ruche sources from a few places (i think). anyway, i am a wary online shopper, too, so i know the feeling! but i very regularly spend my pennies at ruche and i like their stuff a lot. you can feel free to email me to chat more if you want! this totally inspires me, I have to pack for an upcoming trip tonight :) thanks! if only I had that polka dot shirt!
I love these posts!
You definitely got the packing down! If it were me, I would probably be taking my whole closet and I would justify it by saying I need the different pieces for different things. HAHA
I really love these posts - I tried to do the same this week for a business trip, but it wasn't as successful (in my mind). But I did fit everything into a carry-on!!!
These outfits are so cute! I love this idea of using the same pieces to create different outfits! I especially love 4 because I would never have thought to wear a button up that way. Thanks for the inspiration!
I'm wearing black and white polka dots and red pants today too! Your style is so similar to mine- hence why I love your blog! Have a good trip :)
You are one good outfit planner! :) Love these!
I love this series, very practical!
Love this! I think I need to take some major tips from you on packing light. So good!
Love the skirt and the cords, they have such a great colour! I should really try to pack more lightly as well, I tend to overpack all the time.. So I really enjoy the inspiration from your blog.
Greetings from Germany!
WOW! i think you look great!! i don't mean for this to come across the wrong way, but in my opinion (or taste?) i feel like this trip was at least as, if not more, successful! i love the colors of this mix and the creative assembly of peices that still manages to pull off a clever and simple ensemble! :)
whoa, anonymous thank you! i think maybe my very poorly-taken photos (and unironed shirt, oy) are skewing my judgement. thanks for your kind words!
Your posts on mixing pieces is truly inspiring! It's making me want to reexamine my wardrobe in a whole new way. Thanks!
great job! i am definitely doing this next time i'm out of town.
I am new follower and I already love your style and creativity!
I love the 8 piece suitcase idea! I am totally doing this next time I go away.
I have burgundy cords that have languished for several years - you're making me want to pull them out and give them some play before it gets too warm :)
nice i love it.. :) http://lovesimplegreen.blogspot.com/
Love your 8 piece suitcase idea! I wish I could plan so well in advance! :)

I think I'll have to try this for my Ireland trip this summer!
I love this idea! I think I am going to try in when packing for spring break!
I love your Tiny Suitcase Posts. Your mix and match approach is the same approach I take with my whole wardrobe, and these posts give me all sorts of new ideas and inspiration! (I especially like your belted chambray shirt over your LBD). Thank you!

Just wanted to say "Hi", Tania. I just found your blog today -- it was recommended by Kayley, from Sidewalk Ready. Also wanted to say how much I'm enjoying reading your posts. Great ideas -- makes me want to go right to my closet and try some new combinations!
i travel a fair amount for work, and though i have amassed a number of suits, still rely on my permutations when packing!

Could you do a summer version later this year? Im sure i could pull off winter, with layers and all, but summer seems like more of a challenge!
I love when people put p posts like this! I only have a limited number of pieces in my wardrobe so I love to see how to put new outfits together!
brilliant! love the 8 piece concept. wish you would have posted this before i went to austin for SXSW!!! i soooo over packed (a girls gotta have options!), most of the stuff didnt even get worn, and then got like a thousand free tshirts there. somehow still managed to squeeze it all into my carry on, but damn that thing weighed a ton. anyway, looking cute as usually t$. xx a
