Nothing quite like a windy, rainy day to really lift your spirits, eh? But I'll forgive the District of Columbia because it's been so magnificently warm this winter that I can actually forego tights, even if it's a bit eerie to have such warm weather in January and December. Is that spring in the air or global warming?

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

I say it's spring in the air. I love the color of your bag.
I hope it's spring spring spring! It certainly smells like spring out there. Also, you look adorable with your little skirt and boots. Hope you have a good day :)
I'm going with Spring. I wish I had more information than the "vintage skirt." It's so cute. I've been looking at thrift stores to find a cute skirt I can wear at my natural waist with a good turtleneck. Unfortunately my nearly 6 foot tall frame makes almost every skirt a little...short...so I have to put them back. HA! Glad you look so adorable and appropriate :)
We're freezing our asses off in Belgium. Definitely no spring here!
susan, i got it from this etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/arounditgoes
but it doesn't have a tag or any identifying information in it, so i can't be of much help--i'm sorry!!
global warming gives me the sads (and angries). :(
i want some snow!
Cute rainy day outfit!
@tasty moog--i feel you!!! i am missing winter like i never thought i would. if this is february, i don't even want to think about what july will feel like!
You look super cute today! I agree with Rebecca- great color on that bag!

I adore this outfit!!
Also, any under the radar style blogs you've discovered recently?? I'm always looking for new ones and you've had great suggestions in the past!
Those thrifted accessories are super cute! Where do you thrift that you find such awesome things? So far the only thrift shops I've found in the DC area are just so-so.
Your necklace reminds me of one that my grandmother gave to me. :) Also, I love your trench coat!
I'm a Washingtonian as well and often wear skirts to work. Do you have to take the metro anyplace? How do you combat the bunching and riding-up skirt problems when climbing all of those stairs and escalators? I've tried slips but can never find one that works perfectly for me-- they're always just a little too long or end up adding to the extra under-skirt floofiness. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear!
@meredith--here are some recent favorite new-to-me style blogs:

Oh my word, so I have been a follower of your blog for a long time, but I think this is the best outfit you have ever had on your blog before! I want that outfit soooo bad. lol I would totally wear that. :)
I LOVE this outfit! You look so cute. And I am personally still waiting for the snow here in Iowa. It's just not winter without some of that white stuff on the ground for longer than two days.
i love this! the boots are awesome. like, you should be a model for...ll bean or something.
According to my eleven year old son this morning, it's global warming (we were supposed to get something ridiculous like 15 inches of snow last night, I woke up and asked where the snow was and this was his response), but I like to think it is an early spring. Hope that groundhog pulls through today! Love your boots!
OMG you've got your Wellingtons on and you look so dishy, I love them.
Kisses

Oh I am all about this outfit. You look great!
Everything about this look is wonderful. The trench is so classic. The colors blend well. And that bag is something I dream of owning.
Those boots are to die for!

Yay for being able to go bare legs in Feb.! Cute, cute, cute!!!
I said that exact same thing yesterday!!! I definitely think it has to do with global warming but everyone has been saying it's California weather, but I don't think so! Oh well...I'm loving these sun shiny days! I say keep em' coming!
It's okay, it's often windy and rainy in Seattle. We wear similar outfits, especially boots.

Fantastic ensemble! The Wellies in particular make this one a winner.
P.S. Where were January's reading recommendations? I hope you haven't abandoned this feature on your blog -- I always look forward to your witty criticisms.
Oh, so cute skirt! Great outfit!
Love that skirt! I'm digging this warm(er) weather, too!

I love it! You look so fantastic in your wellies. :) My dad says that global warming is a myth, so it must (not) be true and therefore must (probably) be spring!

That skirt is so cute! Wish I had a trench as well. They just seem so functional!
@elizabeth--i'm not sure! i did ride the metro and bus and trot around town in this. the skirt is silk, so it doesn't tend to bunch very horrible like a lined cotton skirt would. but i definitely had to hold it down in the wind, which was a bother. i sometimes wear slips but more often find them to be an inconvenience (something else to get tangled up in, i suppose). so i guess my advice is, make sure the skirt doesn't tangle when you try it on? that's not very helpful. i'm so sorry!
@diana--there will be reading recs coming, i promise! i think it is looking more every-other-month than every month. i have been pretty busy so it is hard to read a lot of new books every month and this past month or so i wasted time on a few duds (farrell's 'the siege of krishnapur' was important for me to read but not something i'd widely recommend because it's a little bit plodding, jacobson's 'the finkler question' was a bit boring, 'cutting for stone' was too sensational, etc.) but i did read a couple very good books that i'm excited to recommend (one of them i am still finishing up) so don't worry there is a post coming!
oh i love this! great colors on you. :)
I think our part of the country is just weird. It seems to happen at some point ever year (the warm episode), yet it never fails to surprise me.
Goodness woman. I walked around bare legged in windy DC last Friday and froze my arse off! This outfit is adorable on you. I love the entire ensemble.
Super cute outfit! I love Gap tees. They are sooo comfy and wash so well. x
OMG, such a gorgeous outfit. Simple and cute! Love your hunter boots.
Hi! I'm a new follower. :) I'm just inquiring about your Hunters. I'm looking to buy some and just need some advice on sizing, colors, and such. Thanks. :)
Stephanie,
Email me, if you like! (whatwouldanerdwear at gmail) and I'd be happy to chat about the boots :)

I can't imagine what summer in NJ will bring thanks to global warming! I do admit I am enjoying the nicer weather with a baby & 2 dogs...but it would have been nice to get a bit of snow! And I barely get to wear my Hunter boots :)
Gorgeous vintage skirt!
