Whoops! Sorry I fell off the map there for a while, but happy much belated new year! Christopher and I were traveling for the past two weeks and spent the last ten days with limited internet access. It gave me lots of time and mental energy to hang out with my friends from college (miss you guys already), see my family, work on my dissertation, read some new books, see lots of movies, and enjoy quality time with Christopher while he finally took a break from work. It was blissful. It also gave me some time to think about blogging stuff--if I'll continue and how I'll approach it this year--and I think I'll bring a few changes to these parts in the next month. Hope you all are having a great start to the new year, I'm excited to catch up on the happenings on the internet this week!

I rarely comment on blogs, but I have to say, I really adore your blog Tania, and I do hope you continue it in 2012! In my opinion, you produce one of the few blogs that is continually interesting, presents great personal style, and is intelligent without pretension (a rare but fantastic combination!)
Also, as a fellow graduate student, I not only respect your consistency in regards to posting on here, but also your drive and commitment to regularly getting dressed and leaving your home!! I am currently studying in Ottawa, Canada, where the snow and slush are a daily deterrents to leaving my cozy apartment, and I find inspiration in your blog to remove my leggings, take off my big comfy sweater, and get dressed, even if its just to work at my kitchen table!
Anyways, regardless of whether or not you continue WWANW, thanks for the great blog, and all the best in 2012!

p.s. I adore that skirt, and the colour combination of this outfit! Great start to the new year! : )
Natalie,
Thank you for commenting and thank you especially for your kind words. I know I won't always get the balance right, but it means a lot to read your words.
Also: I feel you on the cozy apartment bit! It is sometimes so hard to get up and get dressed and go to a coffee shop/library, but for some reason, my mental energy flags if I'm wearing pajamas and trying to work on the couch. I'm jealous of people who can pound out work in yoga pants; I don't have that kind of willpower.
I don't know that the blog will go on forever (it was sort of a whim to begin with) but for now, I'm still having fun.
Anyway, thanks again! Glad to feel like there are kind souls on the other end.
XO Tania
Oh, so cute skirt!
Glad your back!! I missed your posts!

Could the colors mend together any better? Don't think so :) Nice to see you back, and happy belated New Year!

Glad to hear you had a relaxing break away from technology! I love that orangey red color with the maroon!
I am usually a little afriad to pair bold lighter color bottoms with darker tops but now I might have to try something similar. I really like the coral and maroon with the grey sweater.
Out of range holidays are pretty much lovely, so glad to hear it was great! Looking forward to hearing about your blogvision for the next year, also :)
Welcome home, chickadee! And that combo is just awesome--one of my personal favorites, especially for cool weather.
loving those 2 colors together! and Happy New Year!

What movies did you see? And what did you think of them? I love winter break for catching up on movies!
That skirt and blouse combo are so adorable! I can totally see this skirt easily transitioning into Spring and Summer as well. Glad you're back :)

That skirt is such an awesome color. I really like it paired with the grey.
kate! here's what i saw/thought:
the descendants (favorite of the winter movies i saw; clooney was wonderful in it, the landscapes were beautiful and sometimes surprising, and it was a good character movie)
mission impossible (completely silly...one impossible action sequence after another. satisfying because it fulfills what we expect from the genre but otherwise not very good, as anticipated)
a dangerous method (i luuurve cronenberg and viggo mortenson and freud so i thought this would be a sure win. i liked it, but it felt like it dragged in places and the various threads/arguments of the movie didn't come together. not that a movie has to be completely coherent, but the two significant plotlines didn't seem to be in conversation with one another)
drive (christopher thought it was a cool, updated noir film, but the violence was a little much for me, it seemed gratuitous! i secretly wanted more car chasing scenes)
the girl with the dragon tattoo (a solid big box thriller, as anticipated. it was a fun watch but not earth-shattering by any means)
i still really want to see tintin, the artist, and shame. have you seen anything good?
Missed seeing your posts here! Sounds like you had an incredible break, which is always much needed. Time unplugged is always a good thing. Love this outfit and your honesty. I must agree with Natalie on her comments about your blog. You manage a blog that is simple, to the point, and still inspiring. Anyhow, take care!

I love your danskos! I wear mine all the time because they're hand's down the most comfortable shoes I own, but I can't make them look stylish like you do. Also, I missed your posts!! Your blog is one of my favorites because you have such an approachable, yet polished, sense of style. (And as a fellow lit person, I love your literary tie-ins.) I check it daily - with anticipation. I would sorely miss it were it to disappear!

sbk, aren't danskos the best!? i actually have two pairs--a pair of black clogs i got my first year in grad school and these. they last forever and i always take them traveling because they have the best arch support. they're kind of dorky and clunky looking but i still love them and whenever i see people wearing them on the street, i think they look great.
Happy New Year to you! I adore this skirt! Love the color and the style - so great. And those are cute tights. I'm a bit obsessed with tights right now.
As long as you continue to blog, I'm cool with the changes! :)
Dear Tania,
I discovered your blog last year and although I've come across many others since then, yours is one of a select two or three I regularly read. In fact, this is the first time I'm commenting on a blog, not being part of the blog/twitter world! What I most appreciate, besides your unique style that suits you so well, is the thoughtful perspective you bring to your comments on non-fashion related topics.
So just know that you have a loyal reader based in Brussels, Belgium, where I work as an adviser for an international nonprofit - and who appreciates the energy you put into your work. You may also get a kick out of knowing that my Danskos draw many looks in the streets here! (Although I'll confess people appear more puzzled than anything else!).
Best wishes for 2012!
PS Sorry, I meant "blog", not "work", in the second paragraph!.. That's what I get for publishing without previewing.
I LOVE your color combo here- absolutely perfect!
I was wondering where you disappeared to over the last couple of weeks! I've been reading your blog for a while and on a whim made my own last week, so now I am an official follower. Hm. That sounds kind of odd to say.
Nonetheless, it's nice to have you back and I hope that you continue with what you-re doing- at least for now!
Trying to decide what I envy more: the skirt or the Danskos. I think I'm going to land on the side of the Danskos since I doubt I could pull that skirt off the way you can.
You must've gone shopping when home...lovely skirt from Jeremy's. It's really hit or miss there...I'm due for another trip.
@chris--yes, i did! can't go home without a jeremy's trip :) this skirt was the only thing i picked up there, however. $19! woohoo.
I love the color of your skirt! What a nice pop of color in the middle of a dreary winter.
Glad you had some down time! this color combo is lovely on you!
