Thrice as Nice

thrice as nice

thrice as nice
works cited: anthropologie dress; banana republic sweater; belt from my mom; hue sweater tights; steve madden boots

I've been known to like a sweater or two, so today I wore three: sweater dress, cardigan, sweater tights. There's no such thing as too much knitwear when the mercury drops. Usually I am not so bold with color, but I got a little help with this outfit. I tend to get in ruts with the way I wear things, and in college I used to beg my stylish friend Jen to come over and pick out different outfits for me; lately I've been missing having a nearby girlfriend to help me figure out how to wear certain items of clothing. Foolishly, my friend Lauren (from my closet in sketches) mentioned to me that she's started to do closet consultations and I immediately began buttering her up to spend the afternoon in my closet in exchange for my best lentil soup and homemade bread.  It was great to see my clothes through fresh eyes, and Lauren helped me think of ways to style a few tricky pieces and basically catapulted me out of my I-can't-decide-what-to-wear rut that I always fall into early in winter. It was so much fun and made me miss living with girlfriends.

I absolutely love these colors together! It also makes me miss my brown boots. I had one pair for a couple of years, but I really, really wore them down. I had to throw them out last year because there were so many holes in the soles.

This is such a great look! I love the color of that sweater, and those shades of blue and orange are perfectly balanced. Great belt, too!

I love the teal/rust combo! Looks gorgeous, you should do color like this more often :)

(I know how hard it is. I'm a neutral addict myself.)

You look so great! Blue and orange are an underrated combination.

Unfortunately, I was usually "the stylish one" in my groups of friends, so I really only got help when I was having trouble deciding between two pieces. Oh well. Maybe someday...

i just love these colors together! i know what you mean about living with roommates and having that extra eye to run things by. i live with my sisters right now so that's fun. i just found this new blog, though, where readers can submit outfits and questions to ask their online roommates, so to speak. it's called asktheduplex.blogspot.com

I miss living with my mum for this reason. Boys just don't undertstand when it comes to co-ordinating outfits, especially when they wear the same 3 shirts all the time (or is that just my boyfriend!?).

I can totally understand your need-for-advice! Sometimes I buy super items - and then I come home, stand in front of my closet and without some help I would bring it back to the shop! I love this colorful combination - it suits you very well!!!

@emily W.A.Q.A.W.V.W.W.W., i just love you for signing your comments that way. makes me laugh every time.

@elegantly academic--i know, it's the worst! christopher will sometimes say "yes, i like that" or "i don't think that goes together" but he totally useless when i'm standing there saying "waaaaaah, what do i wear today?" versus a girlfriend who would say "oh wear xyz top it always looks great." there are many perks to living with a boy, but when i have those nothing-to-wear or indecisive mornings, i really miss my girlfriends :)

Oh, this color combo makes my eyes and my little heart so happy! And it only make me like MCiS that much more, given that I'd have told you to wear the very same thing. :)

Even if Christopher isn't any help with outfit, at least he's easy on the eyes. Now, what we really need is some sort of video chat weekly date where I can call you and you can tell me how many things I need to edit out of my outfit to make it classic. Also, we can count together the number of striped items in our closets.
