While putting together this post, I discovered that I unintentionally plagiarized my title for these posts from the ladies at Academichic (RIP, favorite blog). I was busy searching for pictures of S. wearing a pink cowl neck top (found here), which I had long admired when I discovered my crime. So here are my belated apologies to S., who remains dear to my blog reader heart because she rides cute bikes, makes cute babies, and still rocks the birkenstocks.
P.S. And just in case this post didn't have quite enough links already, here's another to the guest post I did for S. on bike dates.

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

love this look! you're so much better at wearing earth tones than i could ever be....plus i have a fear of vests. hi, coat from unique!!
Is doing something unintentionally really plagiarizing? I think it is more "great minds think like" :)
I love the layers of this look - the colors fit perfectly.

I have a similar vest from Old Navy that I have a hard time styling. Thanks for the stylish inspiration! :)
Oh dear, I'm blushing! Thanks for all the sweet words and the shout out to my blog! I actually find myself missing academichic too, only because I miss seeing what A, E, and L were putting together and wearing. I don't miss doing it so much these days because I can barely get myself and the baby looking presentable and I'm swimming in dissertation deadlines (planning on defending in May!! Eeek!) that outfit blogging is so not conceivable to me right now. But I fondly remember when I used to be stylish...sigh... :)
Hope your research and writing is going well and you look fabulous as always!
S.
I miss Academichic more than ever. I never considered myself particularly fashionable, but their blog made it doable. Your blog, along with Simply Bike have had to fill in the hole in my life. Thanks for your blog.
I love the waistcoat sides peeking out from behind the jacket, so stealing it! :-) Sometimes plagiarism is better than no plagiarism, especially between fashion lovers.

Nice vest. It's unique.
Hey, we all accidentally plagiarize sometimes. SO nice of you to apologize. You are very classy.

S, thanks so much!
teodora, whether i intended to or not, i definitely got the elizabeth barrett browning play on words from S.'s post. once i realized, i had to give credit where credit is/was due, right? thanks for your kind comment!
You thrifted that coat?!?!?
What a great pumpkin color on you.
This is totally unrelated to anything, but I saw this on Jezebel and instantly thought of your blog. Have an awesome day, filled with hippos!

oh my god HANNAH. thank you for that. just about made my day.
where can i buy that car? only half-joking...
Oh yes, I also miss academic chic. Such a pity... But in a certain way you also are academic chic - i mean there are more and more fashion bloggers who do not work in the fashion business, but studied something totally different, work now somewhere, but search for a creative outlet via their blog.
Besides all that: I love your outfit, you are very inspiring for me. I would wear most of your outfits for my everyday "work" - but as I want to focus on my blog for outfits in concerts, opera and cultural events - I unfortunately won't show that very often... xxx Anita
Sheesh this vest is the best thing I've seen in ages. Love, love, love.

i just won this same cowl neck shirt from five bamboo today! i picked pumpkin too :) and by the way, five bamboo is giving away one thing per day this week over on their facebook page. (no, i don't work there, i'm just a fan of their clothing!)
thanks for the inspiration!
cheers,
karen
I love the combination of the color of the top and the boots. Those are the boots I was looking for when we went to the Steve Madden store a few weeks ago.
I also just wanted to say that it was so nice to meet you and talk to you then! I have been having a rough time in DC and it was really refreshing to talk to you and the other bloggers.

I've seriously been searching far and wide for some boots just like yours and have had no luck. They just seem to really make your outfits come together. Either way, you look adorable, as always.

ani, thanks so much! they are just steve madden boots--i think the style is "intyce." if they don't have them in stock anymore, i'm sure they're selling on 6pm dot com or ebay or elsewhere!
mackenzie--thank you, too! it was great to meet you, too. it is super rough moving to a new place, and it's been hard for me, too. i've actually been thinking about you lots, hoping things are getting better! we should all get together again soon.
You look super cute as always. I love turtle necks. xo, rv
