Comedy of Errors

comedy of errors

comedy of errors

comedy of errors
works cited: gap jeans and cowl; j. crew striped tee; target flats; sweater c/o ruche; bag from NPR; breda watch

It's not even 9 and this has definitely been one of Those Mornings. The comedy of errors mornings. The ones where you haven't posted for three days but now you are outside with your camera and the boyfriend who takes the best photos and he has five minutes to take your picture before he has to bike off to work. And that's when you realize you left your memory card upstairs. You're resilient at first--you'll take pictures using your camera's built-in generous 5-picture limit! But then your camera battery dies. However, you have three photographs! all of which are magically pretty good! and your camera can probably load the pictures onto your laptop even without battery! So you head off for your favorite coffee shop...only to realize you've left your wallet at home once you get there. And yet, serendipitously, by the time you go home to get your wallet and get back, your favorite table by the big sunny window has just opened up, which it never ever does. And the coffee is good, and you're working on your dissertation before 9 a.m. and the sun is shining outside the window. So it seems like there's hope for this morning, which is not so bad after all.
P.S. If you like Ruche as much as I do, they have a new lookbook and it's so cozy it actually makes me excited for winter.

That is a seriously cute outfit.

That third picture is especially adorable. On terrible mornings, I usually wallow in misery and call my mom to complain {in a very whiny voice}, and then stay in pajamas all day. Soldiering through seems -- nay, proved to be -- a much better solution. Hurray for big sunny windows on early mornings! I hope the rest of the day works out as well for you. :)

WOW! That's quite the morning there chicka! Glad to hear it all worked out in the end. I think that I may have given up at "left the wallet at home". Haha. I love this scarf! And the stripes just peeking out are really cute :)

LOVE this outfit, and the post. this outfit is very tania to me. eric and i had a terrible morning last week...it was the first snow in iowa and we had a midwife appointment downtown before work. we got stuck in traffic that we're not used to--i think it was worse because of the snow, tried to call to let the midwife office know we were running behind but their phones weren't on yet (we were the first appointment), took a different exit than we usually do, got lost just as our gas light came on, drove around panicked, finally arrived at the place about 10 minutes late, and i almost fell down in the parking lot. yikes. finally we go inside and are told we will probably need to reschedule since we were late...oh man, we just had to laugh about it!

p.s. see you next weekend!!! :)

Love this outfit, tres French! I like the way the stripes peek out from under the crop jumper... and you found a way to wear one while it's freezing cold...

Oh, those mornings! If it's any consolation, you certainly looked adorable while the universe threw those annoyances at you.

Also, that cowl! I've been obsessing a bit over that same Gap cowl lately, and I was plotting whether or not to commit to knitting up a copycat version of it. Seeing you wear it and look so cozy will sway me!

At least you look great, despite all the crazy happenings :) Love that pop of red, and the hint of stripes under the sweater!

I live in DC, and I was wondering where your favorite coffee shop is!

hi tiffany! my favorite coffeeshop is tryst, on 18th street. it's cozy, the espresso is really good, and you can stay a long time reading a book.

Oh hey, this outfit looks familiar! Haha. It was so good to see you yesterday!! We will have to do it again soon!

I think I have a sweater addiction. I just bought two more, but here I am, looking at your outfit thinking "you know, I really need a dark blue, comfy sweater..." Oh goodness.

I can't believe you took pictures and biked to/from/to coffee shop all before 9am! I'm proud of myself if I even leave to house before 9am.

I just discovered your blog this evening. I love it! As someone who's in her 4th year of her PhD (in creative writing and lit) at a large university in the Midwest (and who is from...and longs for...the East Coast...), and who's also somewhat recently made a much bigger effort to get out of my "grad student uniform" (jeans, t-shirt, cardigan or v-neck sweater)--all while on super duper budget (I also am sending out my first book manuscript to contests...and paying for a physical therapist...and running half marathons...oof...), I just gotta say that your blog makes me smile. And your sense of style is pretty on part with what I love. I just might have to start snapping my own pictures of outfits!
