Stormy Weather

Another great outfit poached from a pin. It was a lovely overcast day and I settled in at a coffee shop to do some reading and tackle a big, horrible, soul-crushing pile of papers to grade. Gloomy cloudy days are a specific kind of wonderful weather, if only because they make it cozier and less depressing to be locked up in front of papers and a computer all day. It's partly what makes finals week during the winter a much better thing that spring term finals. On a dark, snowy day in winter term, there's not much better to do than curl up with your books and a cup of coffee. But come May, when the birds are chirping and it's sunny and warm, the last thing you want is to be locked up in the library.  Ergo: as long as I have a lot to do, bring on the fog and gloom!

I love the rain, and I am listening to it right now with my front door wide open. Anyway, must you look so darn cute everyday? I am happy to follow along with you for more inspiration. Nice to meet you! Drop in for a visit sometime. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo don't be creeped out by my halloween posts...my husband and I are having a bash this year with a haunted walk through.

Yes! I definitely agree. When the weather is cold and gloomy studying actually sounds nice, but when it is nice it is so hard to focus! The only comfort is reading by the pool, but I always end up getting all my paper wet and gross, haha.

I love the color combo here. That skirt is such a pretty color! It looks great with your boots.

Those two colors always go so well together!

What would we do without pinterest!? And as long as I have an endless supply of tea, marking seems like a much smaller job. And I find marking others work also improves my own ... & I get paid for it :)

Great color combination! You look so cute :) And while I'm not a fan of having to walk around campus in the rain and cold, it definitely does make for better studying. I hope grading and reading went well! :)

Amen. As long as it's not raining, at least. I need to *get* to campus or the coffee shop first ...

i totally agree. if it's stormy out, i'm alright cuddling up in a comfy chair and getting work done. but in may? no way. it's all around-campus walks and kan jam on the courtyard for me.

you look wicked cute, by the way :) my studying clothes are not quite as put together as this outfit :)

I love the paper bag waist on that skirt - it adds shape without adding bulk in the midsection.

I saw the skirt on J.Crew yesterday and debated getting it! It looks great on you, and love the whole outfit.

That's almost an exact match! I think the only thing you added were the socks & the bag.

Winter term papers are easier to write, that's for sure. The only thing is that the heavier food and the holiday excitement tire and distract me, respectively. Then again, I'm very good at finding excuses to avoid writing papers... ;)

I got really sad reading about your soul-crushing pile of papers... I legit felt a serious sense of dread from that line.

Best of luck to you on that!

This outfit is super cute! Better than the pin. :)

I hate rainy days! I love sunshine! But hey being up to curl up and read a good book is not so bad. I prefer cold and foggy dasys as opposed to rainy anytime.

i actually got this skirt last year at j. crew but i know they are selling a very similar version this year (not sure how expensive it is but the prices tend to fluctuate bizarrely from month to month...i think i got this one for half off just by stalking the sale section :)

I really like your sense of style. You always look so pretty and yet lots of the things you wear are practical as well for someone who has do more than just look beautiful.

Oh its raining where I live in MN too! I absolutely love it...I worked a barista shift at my local coffee shop this morning and everyone came in drenched and chilly but so excited for their lattes and mochas :) It's a great reprieve after summer heat! Plus I just love lightening and thunder...

Camel and blue, mustard and blue... quickly becoming one of my favorite color families for fall.

I so wish today was gloomy. This SoCal 75 and sunny nonsense needs to give it a rest.

I love that skirt (Really into camel right now). I'd imagine it's super versatile!

Great combo- and I love rainy study sessions too. My favorite is at my kitchen table, kitchen windows open and a pot full of something delicious simmering on the stove.

I love the orange and blue and am glad that Pinterest is working out for so many for outfit inspiration but I fear that it will be another gateway to infinite procrastination for me.

I'm pretty much in love with this outfit. Its speaks to my style soul. The simple shirt, the skirt, the belt, the boots. It makes my heart sing.

Have fun grading. I know it can be no fun. I don't grade college papers, but I do grade high school papers.

I have that same look pinned, and I'm dying to re-create it. Love it!

I'm also in love with this outfit, as many other commentors have said! I love how you've paired the boots & skirt, I've got a similar pair. Probably going to recreate this too!
