Hallelujah, the weekend cometh! I've been playing a lot of catch up this week--grading stacks of papers, working on an upcoming conference, editing a journal, figuring out how to renew my drivers license when I've lost my social security card (sigh), and generally trying to keep my head attached to my body--so I'm looking forward to exploring the flea market, the drum circle at the park, and Mt Vernon this weekend and enjoying the last really great sunny days in DC before winter comes knocking. This wrap dress seemed like a no-brainer this morning: comfortable, pretty, and unfussy: leaving me plenty of mental space to work on other projects. Hope you have a wonderful sunny weekend!

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

when the time arrives, can you please show us what you wore to the conference? i think a lot of us would be interested in that. thanks!
There is nothing like Mount Vernon in the Fall- enjoy!
By flea market, do you mean Eastern Market? I recently moved to the DC area, and I'd love to find a flea market somewhere around.
lyndsee, yes! i do mean eastern market. i've been there once before and it's so much fun.
tasty moog--i'll do my best but can't make any promises! usually i'm without christopher (photographer) at conferences, plus i'm not really worrying about what i'm wearing at all. i know people are interested but it's usually boring--black pants, a cardigan and heels. i'm usually trying to stay comfortable and calm and not worry about looking good. but i'll see what i can do!
such a simple outfit, yet feminine & classy. Love it!
You should hang out with Naomi from Rockstar Diaries. I would love to see you two explore DC and do a photo shoot together about your adventures!
If you find out how to renew your license after losing your SS card, let us know! I'm in the same predicament.
those wedges are cuuute!! And everyone should have a few dresses they can wear whenever.
I love the simplicity of this outfit. The wrap dress is so pretty.
You may already be on top of it, but if you have a passport, you can fill out a form for a replacement ss card and use your passport as identity and citizenship proof. http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm
It's kind of annoying because you have to have a bunch of information about your parents, but it's free.
Also, your dress is pretty, especially with the chunky necklace to fill out the neckline.
beautiful dress!

You'll LOVE Mt. Vernon! It's especially pretty when the leaves have changed. The green seems to be holding on for dear life around here, but I'll allow it if we get to keep these nice days.

A friend of mine brought her passport and all her ID's in with her to her bank, and they were able to print her out a statement that had her SS# on it. Maybe worth a shot? Wear this outfit while you do it, that should up your chances.
Beautiful wrap dress. I want one now :O) Yay for weekend. Have a good one!
That dress is beautiful! And I can't believe no one mentioned how great your hair looks!
You look so beautiful in that dress! It looks really comfy and flowy and wonderful for a day of fun!
p.s. Way to go getting all that stuff done in a week. Sounds intense.
Cute bag! I remember wanting one like that when I was younger and searched high and low until I found one. Wish I still had it. :)
Re: Lost SS card. I lost mine for the past 4 years and only found it recently. I've been lucky enough to be able to register my car etc. without having to get a new license in the state I now live. However, just so you know, the DMV in DC is the absolute worst. Any chance you can renew in your home state without showing your SS card?
You look great in this dress! I love it <3
