Do you like heeled loafers? I was pretty wishy-washy on them until I saw this picture in a Real Simple magazine that I was flipping through in a waiting room. I really like the way the shoes were styled and suddenly I could imagine wearing them (but definitely not for the ridiculous prices at which most shoe stores sell them). A few weeks later, I stumbled upon these loafers (Italian leather! stacked heel! actually comfortable for walking in a city!) on a thrift expedition with Emily, and I happily realized I could recreate the styling of the Real Simple outfit entirely from thrifted items. This is a rare triumph for me, sweetened by the fact that Christopher surprisingly loves these shoes as much as I do. Happy day!

I was just over at Emily's blog lamenting about the lack of thrifting in Lyon! I want her skirt and I definitely want your loafers!
What a lovely look! Sweet dress and perfect with your new heeled loafers. Totally can see you transitioning this into fall as well.
It's always exciting when you find such a excellent ... um ... find at a thrift store. And loving this dress. Very similar to a green one with birds you own?

I love this outfit. The dress has a really nice, flattering length. The shoes are great as well. Loafers are growing on me, too. Just bought a pair of patent leather ones for work. They dress up any outfit.
That dress is awesome!
I love how everything is thrifted...and the loafers and dress are great!

So cute! I actually have the Land's End Canvas dress from the Real Simple photo - my fall splurge - so now I'll have to see if I can have as great of thrifting luck to get the rest of the look!
I told you this on pininterest, but I'm obsessed with the real simple outfit, and your version is just as wonderful. I'm still on the hunt for my heeled loafers, and I might just cough up the dough for the nine west pair - they might be my one pair of shoes for the season...but we'll see, because I also need new running shoes...
I am soo jealous... there is no good thrifting ops in Charlotte NC. However if you are looking for trendy shoe ops on the cheap, check out gojane.com thats where i go when i dont wanna spent more than $30 on a new shoe trend.. i may just jump on the loafer bandwagon now seeing how cute your outfit turned out.
Very cute!
An entirely thrifted outfit is a victory, indeed! I don't think I've ever tried to do it...
You look so classy and timeless! So happy that Christopher liked them too! Guys just don't get these type of fashion half the times, they only like the outfits that are "tight and right" lol.

Wow, you did an excellent job matching that picture!
love your dress, so cute!

This is an adorable outfit, from head to toe. And I love it even more that it was entirely thrifted! The loafers are adorable - I have always loved the look, but have yet to try a pair on in the store. They really add a classic and retro touch to the outfit - at least that's how I see it. Super adorable and I am loving the darker hues. Thanks for sharing!

triumph! not only can you recreate it, but you look awesome! i'll find myself drooling over some new style, and then, when i try it on, it doesn't suit my body type at all...

That dress is amazing on you! And congrats on scoring the loafers.
These shoes are super great. I've been on the fence about a heeled loafer too, but you've styled them really well. The pattern on the dress is great as well!
very chic!
I really like this dress! I think last time you posted it I said the same thing. I like shirt dresses like this and those shoes are definitely a smart touch :)
I just bought my first pair of heeled loafers and am pleasantly surprised. I love your dress with your loafers!!
What an amazing score! I love how yours look kind of ladylike and vintage, instead of the very teenage vibe of a lot of the pairs I'm seeing in stores. And that dress is perfection.
Great all-thrifted outfit, that's always fun. And I dig the heeled loafers, I actually prefer them heeled than flat.
Great dress! I wish I could find great dresses like that when I go thrifting...so jealous!
i dont comment often, but the shoes did it for me. loving the heeled loafers on you; wish i had a pair! inspirational
haha! love the post title! and you look lovely in this pretty dress with the loafer pumps!!

Love the vista verde bag... so good for every season! http://www.shopruche.com/vista-verde-messenger-cross-body-bag-p-8372.html?zenid38=0c0e4ada29dc634edb0925a1817ac18c. I definitely want to branch into heeled loafers. I love the preppy look of regular loafers but I don't know if they would really work for me that well, they always seem a bit masculine - but add a heel and they're so ladylike! Yours look amazing. :)

This dress/belt combo is probably my favorite outfit that I've seen you in for the past bit. I don't know how to explain it...I love everything that you wear and your general style, but something about this combo is just really endearing.
Thrifting at it's best - you basically found the exact same dress and shoes as the picture! How exciting! Well done :)
Love healed loafers! There's something so girly yet academic about them.
you look so pretty in the first photo!
ok seriously, you thrifted all of these things? WOW! I am so jealous.
What material is the dress made out of?
Thanks,
love,

This is one of my favorite outfits of yours. The print on that dress is wonderful, and it looks great with those shoes!

suze--aw, thanks! it's a very rare feat! the dress is 100% silk.
Wow!! I'm so impressed you thrifted your entire outfit! What great finds :) You look amazing; so much better than the model in Real Simple :)
Love the loafers! You look great!...I need to go thrifting... =)

I think heeled loafers are very fitting for your style! They're growing on me...I might try thrifting some to try the trend out.
Ok... so I've also been wishy-washy on the heeled loafers. In fact, if we are being honest here, I've probably been leaning more towards hating heeled loafers. However, this outfit is awesome and these shoes seem just right. You just might be changing my mind!
saw on your twitter that you are going to a conference @CMU! i went there for grad school and make regular trips backs, here are a few recs:
hotel: shadyside courtyard mariott. a bit pricey, but we always get a good deal through priceline (even less than $100 a few times!). cmu is within a walkable distance.
food/coffee (these are in various neighborhoods, but in relation to CMU, you can walk/take the bus to all of them): dozen bakeshop (cupcakes!); dinette (pizza + wine!); abay (ethiopian!); coffee tree roasters and 61c in squirrel hill (coffee and people watching); coco cafe (brunch!); and one of my personal favorites, d's 6-pack and dogs (self-explantory. but, they do have food other than hot dogs as well. i always get a veggie dog, though! bonus: extra toppings are free!).
thrifting: this is tough for me b/c some places i used to frequent are no longer around. there are several goodwills around town. on my last trip i went to one in the north side, which was small and random, but did have a few gems (i got a vintage yellow silk shirtdress with a crazy tropical/beach print for $5).
That dress is so pretty! I love the tiny print! And I'm a big fan of loafers, heeled or not!
I love the heeled loafers, and what a great dress!!
Loving the pattern on that dress! so different and unique=)
much love! happy fall=)

This looks so cute on you. I think it makes you look slightly studious / serious : ) I do have loafers but not ones with higher heels like yours... I remember them being fashionable in the nineties though!
What goes around!!
