Aye Aye, Princess

pirate princess

pirate princess
works cited: target striped top; UO belt and flats: downeast basics skirt

I'm not very good with color, so I take a lot of inspiration from random people that I see on the street (or on blogs). The other day at the movies, I saw a super cute girl wearing big black frame glasses with a pink sweater, and I loved the way the two colors looked together. So naturally I stole it for my own. Even if I do look a little like a pirate crossed with a ballerina, I like the way black toughens up a slightly princess-y color.

I always have the hardest time pairing black and white patterns with any other colour. This is really cute though, I like it.

Too cute. Love the look, nice and simple but very, very pretty. Is that a braid in your hair? Because if it is...a little jealous of it right now. :)

I think it's a great combination! Not pirate-y at all. And the ballerina look works for you :) I'm a big fan of ballerina-inspired outfits!

No, this is a beautiful color combination! You look so comfortable, and I would love to be wearing it myself (I'm quite a skirt person, anyway). You look beautiful and...one of these days...I am going to try and braid my hair, thanks to your handy DIY.

I definitely didn't think pirate, but I can see how the stripes might make you think that. I am so in love with that skirt!

Black and ballet pink reminds me of my many years in a dance studio--super chic ensemble.

Agree, chic and not-piratey. Well, unless you know a lot of stylish pirates who look like this. Then I'll stand corrected.

What a cute skirt!

Great choice, not at all pirate-y. It is my absoulte favorite style to pair black and white with a pop of some bright color, coral always works well. (:

Very cute! I get tired if pairing red with black and white. Pink is a great way to change it up.

We wore the same color scheme today, and I have a very similar skirt! I'll have to try it with stripes like you. I definitely agree that light pink and girly works really well with black and white. :D

I don't think I would have ever thought to pair these colors together before, but now that you have, I am quite loving it.

I love this color combination! I usually try to avoid black and pink because I think it can sometimes read a little pop-punk "Avril-Lavigne-ish", but this blush shade of pink grows the combination up perfectly :)
