When I was in middle school and my dad was still cajoling me into playing sports, my soccer team's colors were purple and white. Now, every time I wear purple and white together, I think fondly back to the Highlanders and to the many games I spent standing on the fields staring into the trees and thinking about Laura Ingalls Wilder or Sandra Cisneros or whatever book I was reading at the moment . Impressively, I was hardly disturbed by the ball or my teammates whizzing by me. Team athlete, I was not, but I made up for it by being very popular with the school librarians.

That necklace is fantastic! My school colors were green and gold, and to this day I can't wear the two together without thinking I'm going to a pep rally. :)

Nice! I spent my softball days in the outfield picking flowers. Haha! Then I moved onto art and found my niche. Life became much better then :)

Ha, ha ... I'd pick books over sport anyday! And one of the librarians recently declared to me I was one of there regular patrons.

PS love the matching skirt & necklace.

This outfit looks great! I think purple looks lovely on you, old soccer colors or not :) I have an aversion to maroon and gray because they were my high school rival's colors, ha.

This is an adorable outfit! I feel the same way about purple and black because I am from Colorado and I instantly think "Rockies". LOL

I could never get my head outa the clouds and onto the soccer field either....only instead of thinking about characters from books, I was making up songs that made absolutely no sense (that's why I'm a really good preschool teacher!) Love the purple grape colored skirt!

So pretty! I love the color of the skirt! My middle school uniform colors were yellow and blue. Definitely not as cute as this combo!

I haven't thought about Cisneros' work in a long time! I have some long trips coming up. Perhaps it's time for me to re-read some of it. :)

ooh you look so skinny in this outfit! very flattering. and i know what you mean- i'd spend my time in the outfield in softball spinning around and doing cartwheels. then my parents decided to put me in dance classes and those were the happiest years of my life.

Great colours on you, especially the skirt!

Haha, I was never much for team sports myself (one on one badminton on the other hand!) but I can see why your dad thought you should be playing soccer. Books are way more fun though ;) I really love that necklace, so pretty.

This look is simple and comfy yet still polished and put-together!

I was never a sports girl either, I remember going waaaayy out in the out field when playing baseball hoping no ball would ever be thrown in my direction!

I've gotten into the habit of reading blogs from my phone so when I saw this last night I bookmarked it immediately so I would remember to comment. Basically what I am saying T is that I love this. The outfit is simple and chic AND you look absolutely gorgeous.

first of all, i absolutely love this outfit. just flawless and simple.
second, were we separated at birth? i would spend my summer days lost in books or daydreaming about the characters and was (am) quite the library nerd.
