This outfit owes its inspiration to a few places: the first, of course, is my friend Megan. Megan designed this dress, is wicked talented, and also happens to be the sweetest person on the entire internet (this is an objective truth, I'd say). I got to meet her in person last year when she and her good-looking family were moving across the country and since then, we've stayed in close touch and she's always the first person I reach out to when I have a blog question (or occassionally a blog woe). And these shoes kind of freak me out, because I feel like they are a little too cool for me, but Elaine and Linda both rock them and so I'm trying to take a cue from them and be a little less afraid of cool shoes. And lastly, I put this image on my inspiration board several weeks ago and was reminded just how beautiful a blue dress and some brown accessories can be. Sometimes, I think simple outfits are just the best.

I love blue dresses. Actually, I love anything blue, and I have a lot of blue things. I read a study that said the color blue is the most well received by people generally. Though I must say I love a bright red/pink dress too - like I posted on my blog today!

LOL Those shoes are SUPER cute, they are not too cool for you! I happen to own the very same pair :) I don't have a blue dress, though. Funny how following fashion blogs "inspires" me to go shopping! :P
i agree: megan is amazing and blue/brown combos are beautiful! love your inspired look!
Megan is amazing! This is a lovely dress. And I love how you styled it! You look lovely.
Ha, ha ... sometimes I'm scared things are a little to 'cool' for me too ... gee, need to fix up my pin interest. Still haven't been able to put the pin thingy on my tool bar & thus no pinning for me :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't always feel cool enough for her clothes. :) Way to rock the cool shoes.
I love that dress! Simple yet cute. And pockets?! Bonus points!
Amen to the title of this post! I make it a point to surround myself with only the most talented people. It's my secret to happiness :)
That dress is absolutely beautiful on you! I love the Megan Nielsen skirt I've seen you wear on the blog before too...I liked it so much that this spring, I searched high and low for something comparable. I found something suitable, but I still have Megan Nielsen envy.
This dress is beautiful and I love it with the shoes!
Fantastic outfit! Love the whole look - especially the shoes!
Your dress is so lovely! I love the silhouette, the colour, the buttons down the front. It's great!

you're rockin the shoes. don't even worry about it.
Megan really does make some stunning clothes! I love the way you've paired it with the double belt too, it adds a whole new look to the dress.
The shoes are awesome, they suit ya. Rock the shoes!
Be afraid of cool shoes no more... you showed them who was boss. And also that dress? So cute... very wise friend choices you make.
I think one of the best things about having friends is that you can share in each other's talents. She can make you dresses, and you can recommend great books and (i'm guessing) always be good for some stimulating conversation. That's why friends rock.
That belt is perfection!
Yay! Megan should be so proud. That dress was made for you! (haha no pun intended) You look fantastic!
This is so pretty! I love the shape and color of this dress, and it totally works with the cool shoes.
And as a fellow nerd blogger (M.A. in English, currently teaching college English, and starting a PhD in a year), I must say that I LOVE how you title your list of clothes at the end Works Cited. Wish I'd thought of it first! Genius!
I love this dress - so summery and girly :)
