Sometimes I find trips to the thrift store frustrating because I never find the particular thing I'm looking for. Last week when I was dying to find braided belts and espadrilles (entirely without luck), I stumbled upon this bright blue short-sleeved cardigan, which I decided to take home with me. After I washed it, I realized that it's superfine merino wool (so finely woven that the sweater is as soft as cotton) and when I googled the label (elie tahiri), I realized I had accidentally stumbled on a ridiculously fancy, expensive sweater. For $2. In my size. Though there was nary as espadrille to be found, a designer sweater for the price of a popsicle did help soften the blow.

I am definitely going to try this look, putting a belt over a cardi and dress! You are a wonderful inspiration Tania! xx
I've found that I have to go into thrift stores with no expectations, or I get frustrated. In the back of my mind I have a list, of course, but I can't look for anything specific.
I really like how you paired the yellow flats with this outfit.
Ooogh, I do love thrifting! I found a $400 dress last weekend for $6.
That cardi is a great color too!
Your braided high bun is ridiculously cute and OMG an elie tahari sweater for $2???? JEALOUS!!! :D

Cute outfit - the sweater is a great color.
I had a similar lovely thrifting experience this weekend at our local Salvation Army - a lightweight merino J Crew cardigan for $2!
I love those great thrift store finds you don't realize are great finds until after the fact. And the blue sweater with the yellow flats is such a lovely color combo :)
Love the blue sweater with the yellow shoes.
If I go to the thrift store with no expectations I usually find great things. If I go with something specific in mind, no luck!
I absolutely love the blue and yellow combo - and great score on the cardi!

Ooh, what a lucky find! I stumbled upon a Tahari skirt once while thrifting. Like you I didn't recognize the name in the store, but I was pretty happy once I got home and Googled.
That cardigan is gorgeous! Congrats! you have a great eye for thrifting.
I find that I make silly purchases at thrift stores when I get hung up on the label--even though an item isn't quite my style, I'll think, 'but its by X and its only $2, what a steal' and buy it but never wear it. I don't think you'll have that problem with this sweater, though, its perfect.
Ooh, yeah, Elie Tahari is good stuff! I used to sell it when I worked retail right after college. You got quite the deal!
Love it when that happens. We have a Goodwill Outlet where I live, so you have to dig through piles of clothing to find the worthwhile pieces. I always feel like I've uncovered buried treasure (and at $1.59 a pound, it's always worth the digging).
blue+yellow is such a summer happy combination!
regarding thrifting- i ve only managed to find one beautiful skirt so far but the journey continues :P
Awesome find! I wish we had more thrift stores where I live so I could try to do the same!

Your bun looks great!
That blue cardigan was an awesome and if i might add, lucky find! For $2....score!
Oh and I really like the yellow flat touch, makes me want to bring mine out again but unfortunately since it has been raining and gloomy in california, I don't want to risk getting them dirty.Guess I'll have to wait till summer comes...if it ever does!
That is my absolute favorite shad of blue! You definitely scored with this purchase!
I can't believe I never thought of googling my thrifted finds, what a great idea! I love love love the braided top bun (and Joanna's DIYs!) and the yellow flats add the perfect kick of colour :)

I'd found a beautiful Free People dress at the thrift store on Sunday, but it was not in my size, lucky you finding the item that fit!
I love cardigans! I actually have a pretty bad luck finding them in thrift stores though!
BTW you look so lovely! ^__^ I have a friend who thinks that if you buy something in thrift shops, it's bad luck, but I don't think it's bad luck at all! Picking the right items for your style just makes you look super good! {:

It always cracks me up with the thrift stores price F21 & Merona stuff high and then leave and Eli Tahiri sweater at $2.
you're hair is adorable in this post!
Isn't buying something for cheap and then realizing it should have been expensive the best? Congratulations on such a great find!

I love thrift store magic! Great find! The blue is such a beautiful color for you. I've always found that patience is a virtue where thrifting is concerned. I'm sure the perfect pair of espadrille's will show up soon. :)

Brilliant! Was at temple today and people were wandering around wearing white sheets, green aprons and bakers hats and some were in a swimming pool baptising corpses! I asked this fool behind a veil what was going on but he just mumbled put his hands through a slit in the veil and started washing me whilst mumbling some tripe! Can you tell me are these people sane?
