I am trying to make good on my goal to wear a little more color and a little less navy, black, and gray. I'm also always trying to be a little more courageous when it comes to color (and not just pair a bright with a neutral every time). So today's pink, maroon, and a splash of orange felt pretty exciting for this vanilla bean. We'll see if I can keep up this grueling task of wearing color more often :)
P.S. A few more ways I've worn this skirt (because I love when other people do these).

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

that's a great goal! i always strive for that too!!
color looks so good on you! especially that pink top; it brightens up your face :) really pretty.
From one Vanilla Bean to another I love this color combination and full support your goal. I've been trying to wear more color too... but some days neutrals are just too easy :-)
I've been trying the same thing lately! Even had a go at crazy brights today.
This gorg though, especially love the little pearl buttons on the blouse. So sweet!

I love that blouse! My mom and I always call that salmony/coralish/almost-pink color our "Power Color" because it just seems to light up everyone's face and complexion in the prettiest way. I'll have to show her this post as an example of our theory! :)
These colors look great on your skin tone!
Such a pretty color combo! I like when you do the different outfit remixes, I think it's nice to be able to come up with more outfits from just one.
yep... this is definitely my favorite one so far :] i just love how your coordinated them so perfectly !

Love the pink top, definitely brightens up this skirt =)
That pink top is one of my favorite colors for spring! I love the entire palette you used here--the warm, rich tones look beautiful on you. (And I love when people post past ways they've styled an item. It's so inspiring!)
that is such a pretty top!
I LOVE THE SALMON TOP
so much.
love.

Yay! This is such a great color combo, and one I would never think to pull together - I call bunk on your being any kind of 'vanilla bean!' Looks more like papaya with raspberry coulis to me. :)
And I definitely agree with other commenters, the pinky shade of this top really complements your gorgeous skin!
Good for you! I like how you mixed this pink with the maroon - great colors on you!

That's a fabulous skirt, I love seeing those little collages too. :D

Love this outfit! Kind of reminds me of Kendi's outfit that was inspired by the other girl's... the one with the salmon colored shirt and the bright pink skirt! Those colors look great on you :)
You look great in this color combo! It's summer after all you can't go wrong with these pretty brights.
Rock it!
Love the color palette here, and the belt really ties the outfit together!
love the color on you! and the buttons on that top are ca-ute!
I love this whole look and think the colours look great on you. I used to have the same problem of getting stuck in the black/navy/grey trap...great colours but can become a bit drab when circulated soley in that order. A splash of colour adds something unexpected. I love how you posted the pics of how you wore the skirt in previous seasons and weather!
stephanie--you're totally right! that must have been my unconscious inspiration (i certainly can't take credit for inventive color combos on my own :)
Love it!! Sophisticated and summery at the same time.
LOVE these colors together. I like this goal of yours :)

Lovely outfit! And what a great versatile skirt!
Cute! The colour of that top is lovely on you. Yay for colour though, it gets easier to wear the more you wear it.

I love how you call yourself vanilla bean. It's so cute! And that skirt is lovely.
I LOVE this color combo!! Beautiful!
I love the skirt, so pretty! I bought grey tights on a whim a while ago, but can't quite seem to pair them off.. this skirt is the answer. I'm definitely inspired, thanks!
