MAINE!

maine!

maine!

maine!
works cited: target tunic; thrifted jorts (classy, i know); hat from walmart (emergency purchase because i am fair-skinned like a vampire and burn in ten seconds and there was no other place around to find a hat and yes i know the mart of darkness is the heart of corporate evil but i fear skin cancer even more than an unethical $7 hat)

Christopher and I arrived in Maine to a luxurious east coast heat wave and beautiful sunny days. Yesterday, we took walks across the mudflats and laid in the hammock in the sunshine. I fear my vacation uniform isn't going to be very exciting, because I'm planning on spending the next two weeks reading on the porch, swimming, and taking walks and not worrying a bit about what I'm wearing. This involves being shoe-less and make-up-less as much as possible. Extra points for hair that hasn't been shampooed for three-plus days. It's the opposite of a gas station around here. No shirt, no shoes, no problem.

Oh I love your fashion! So refreshing to see someone with a clean, simple and unique style who doesn't need to wear a million different styles to look good. Lovely blog :)

What an absolutely perfect East Coast look. Love the straw hat. Can't wait to see more pictures.

P.S. I gave you a shout out on my Summer Trends post for Friend Friday.

I've never been to Maine but want to take a drive there one day. Post more Maine pictures from your walks!

I like your beach bum look! I have to wash my hair daily, but the beach is magical because it looks good unwashed there. hehe

I've been reading your blog for a long time now, it's so neat to see you come here to Maine! To Kennebunkport, no less! Have a good vacation!

Like your mama said, don't waste time apologizing for casual outfits! As if Dear Reader isn't in her yoga clothes until school starts (at least 18 hrs of the day). -Mainer missing Maine

I always wanted to visit Maine - I really hope that I'll get in a camping trip there or something this year since it's my last full summer on the east coast.

It's definitely best to fear skin cancer, use alot of sunblock!
Love the bare midriff look, very summery, however with my bit of tummy....I can't pull that kind of look off. That, and the fact that I don't like to bare too much skin.

I am so jealous you have a house in Maine by the water! That is definitely somewhere I have always wanted to go and we plan on honeymooning there and in Boston in the very near future. :)

Very simple and classic and perfect for laid-back beachiness! Love it :) And also very jealous you're spending so much time at the beach!

we'll let it slide this time, because sunburns / skin cancer sucks and you are too cute in your breezy vacay outfit. just don't start buying food and dvds and plants and toys and guns there. ;-)

I'm usually just a quiet little lurker on your blog, but just HAD to comment to say I absolutely love your little literary reference there with the 'Mart of Darkness'! And also I am jealous of your sunny weather.

That is all.

What Would a Nerd Wear said...

kerry--ha, thank you! actually i can't take credit for the "mart of darkness" pun--i think christopher came up with it first.
don't be too jealous of the sun; it's long gone now and the wind and rain are blowing brrr!

I hate to admit but the thought of you having two weeks of leisure time gave me a little flare of jealousy.
You look beautiful and relaxed, even despite your hat of evil.

I accept your apology for Walmart and hereby absolve you of any guilt from said purchase. As a fellow member of the vampire burn in ten seconds under the sun club, I understand. That being said, you look damn cute here :)
