Cold Snap

works cited: gap pants; crewcuts sweatshirt; target striped tank; j. crew outlet chambray shirt and bracelet; sneakers c/o keds; thrifted jacket

We had a little cold snap up here, so I was able to wear a few of the things I picked up at the J. Crew factory outlet in Freeport, where everything was so cheap I felt like I was stealing clothes. While it feels a bit weird to be wearing this many layers in June, I'm savoring the cool air because when I go home it's going to be roasting hot. Plus the cool days make excellent conditions for two of Christopher's favorite Maine activities: throwing rocks at targets balanced on the pier pilings and flying balsa wood airplanes in the backyard. That's what all grown ups like to do on vacation, right?

Freeport is my favorite!!! Ahh. So jealous of you. We're taking a road trip to South Carolina in a couple weeks and you can bet I've already charted out all the J. Crew factory stores on the way. :) I've never been to one! Also, love how you layered these four tops!

Ah, yes. The J. Crew outlet is a dangerous place. You look adorable!

love the layers - the tank with the button down with the sweater ... fantastic. I also love that the sweatshirt is from crewcuts. I've often considered that myself ....

I have yet to go to J. Crew! I think I might have to find one around here so that I can get some shirts and stuff.....from the sale rack that is!

love the jacket! we just moved and summers here are not half as hot as where we came from--so everyday i'm totally at a loss as to what to wear. your layers look warm but still summery. thanks for the inspiration!

I hope you saved some things for me to purchase at the J. Crew outlet when I get there on July 1st. Love the crewcuts sweatshirt.

Outlet stores! The best. I'm always so freaked out about not being well packed for all weather situations on a trip, but it looks like you made do just great!

LOVE freeport - such a goldmine! I live in Canada, but sometimes I make a trip down there and its TOTALLY like you're stealing clothes. I got a brand spankin' new J. Crew wool coat for 60$ and now its my signature winter coat and has been for 4 years. Goldmine, I tells ya!

I love Kennebunkport and am vacationing vicariously through your posts! I'm not sure which I'd rather be doing right now, hitting the Freeport outlets or eating a lobster roll at Nunan's.

Love this outfit! I've been kind of wanting to get a pair of keds myself, but have been too much of a scaredy cat to pull the trigger. Hope you're having fun on the vay-cay! ;)

Selfish confession? I'm glad it got cold where you're at, because you are just the queen of killer layering. :)

LOVE these layers! The sweatshirt with the chambray button down, and your amazing thrifted jacket! Your bracelet also looks gorgeous.
Its been cold off and on here in Winnipeg, I find that Im dressing for two different seasons all at once, it makes layering fun & challenging!

Love the layers! I wish it was cool enough here to wear some! Your little white keds make this outfit so adorable and still springy! Love it!

Christopher is not alone in his love of throwing things at things. My brother and I spent way longer than I care to admit throwing little rocks at an old sign last weekend. Oh ya, the excitement doesn't stop in Oregon.

You look like a J. Crew model in these photos! Though it's unbelievable to me that it's chilly somewhere else in the states (gah, it's 103 here everyday), I definitely love how effortless this looks.

I'm admiring your Maine travel photos -- looks like you're having a wonderful time! :)

this blazer is really pretty, simple, chic, very versatile I would say. I love the little preppy twist with the layered blouse and sweater too! Sometimes you have to keep it simple to make certain pieces work. And your hair looks so nice and shiny :)

I see that I failed to comment on this post some time ago. Fired. But, I did want to say that you look so very classic Maine to me...which is to say something I've imagined and never actually seen. The chic layers and simple colors are so flattering and seem perfect for a cool sean town. And the little stripes that are peaking out? Perfect!
