Stripey

stripey

stripey

stripey
works cited: spotted moth dress; thrifted belt; volcom sandals

When I was little, I had lots of stripey things from Hanna Anderson--stripey pajamas, stripey swimsuit, stripey dress--which I wore into tatters. I've been looking for a perfect adult version of the stripey dress for years. This dress is a pretty good approximation, but a little short to be all-purpose (i.e. teaching). Naturally, I can't say no to stripes in any form, so I'll keep it for weekends, but meanwhile the hunt for The World's Most Perfect Striped Tee Shirt Dress will continue.

I just hopped over from Dwelling and Telling, and I'll admit--I'm usually not a huge fan of guest posts. But you won me over and then some with your nerdy Great Gatsby references . . . as an English grad, I really appreciated that :-) I'm a new follower, and I LOVE that dress on you!

I just love your sweet blog, especially as a grad student myself (well, former, I just finished my Master's degree!). Two questions:
Are you done with school for the summer?
and...
How do you do your hair like this?! I have been trying to figure out this style forever!

Target has had a surprising number of really cute dresses lately, especially online! I bought this one at the store a few weeks ago: http://tinyurl.com/3aotbst . It's pretty casual, but I've received compliments on it when I've worn it!

t-shirt and maxi dresses are my two favorite items right now! ASOS has quite a few great and casual t-shirt dresses. Not sure if any are striped, but it's worth checking out.

The striped dress is fab, but so is your hairdo! I'm used to seeing these fake braids on girls' heads and they don't always match seamlessly. But I know your hair is long enough to do that and it looks both flawless and natural.

this past weekend, i saw a few perfect striped knit dresses at brooklyn flea. i almost picked up a cute navy/white tank dress version for playing tennis. in your thrifting adventures, keep your eye out for the labels armor lux or petit bateau-- or, invest in a new one (they are made in france).

I practically lived in Hanna Anderson mix and match stripes and solids when I was a kid! And had high-top Converse to match (I may have just discovered why I now have an addiction to stripes and chucks). Love your grown-up version! =)

I LOVE this outfit. I wish I could wear stripes, but I'm afraid stripes wouldn't flatter my body shape. But I also adore those shoes. They're absolutely perfect, and just the pair I've been dying for. Thanks to you Tania, I just ordered a pair in black and in silver. Now I feel poor. :( But sooooo worth it.I live in Houston, my feet need sandals!

By the way, who was the Ruche winner??

This outfit is so cute, Tania! I have those sandals too, and it's fun to see new ways to wear them! Also, I hope this isn't too creepy, but I think I saw you at the Pomona College graduation on Sunday. (I was there to see my little brother graduate.) Hope you and your family enjoyed the day!

You should check out Lands End Canvas--they have a really cute-looking striped t-shirt dress now!
Their stuff runs big, though, so if you decide to go for it, size down. :)

I have the same dress and the same problem with it - it's sooo short! Be careful washing it, because mine turned into a tunic top - a cute one though!

Jennifer said...

I have been thinking the same thing lately...I have too many stripes in my closet that is in the navy-white palette. The worst thing is that I keep wearing them! They are so easy to wear though - especially with a coral colored cardigan. :(
