Why I Shouldn't Be Allowed To Take My Own Pictures

I am enormously impressed with the ladies who take their own photos every day (Liz, Ms. Monkey, I'm looking at you). I used to do it more often, but then Christopher got really good at it and my skills regressed, hugely. So this outfit--which garnered some in-person compliments--did not appear to the best of its ability, thanks to my crappy self-timer skills, the sudden humidity heat wave that appeared after a freezing 40-degree morning, and the lack of translation of how red and amazingly bright these tights are onto film. But as it is with all outfits, you win some and you lose some. And today, what with the cold spell and humid spell and a super-busy photographer, was probably on the "lose some" side of things. But unless you're Charlie Sheen, you don't win them all, do you?

I love it! I just bought a cardigan this color today, and was filling iffy about it; but since I have similar coloring to you, and it looks so great on you, I am now very happy that I bought it. I would never have thought to pair it with red and black. Looks great!

Oooh! I like this a lot. I've never considered the combination of grey, red, and cognac, but I dig it!

Not sure why you say that. It looks great as always.

Cute outfit, but I would not refer to someone who commits violence against women to be a winner.

Don't be too hard on yourself T! If you hadn't mentioned that you took these, I wouldn't have been any wiser. I think they look great, per usual. Plus your hair is looking extra fab today :)

I really like this outfit. I have the same photo problem too. My boyfriend got so good at it. Now he is working more, and I'm screwed.

I would love to own the grey dress! I love the shape - very flattering!

I take my own pictures (husband is already at work at picture-taking time), and it's taken me forever to really get it right - and often I still don't. I think you did a great job. I like the outfit too - gray and red is a wonderful color combination.

Lady, I don't know what you're talking about! Your entire body is in the frame, that is pretty much all any one of us can hope for ;) Red tights give me nothing but trouble to photograph but I think they - and your outfit - look as fantastic as ever!

I'll tell you what's really missing, though - the adoringly grateful happy eyes you normally make to the man behind the camera. Don't think we can't tell.

Taken by yourself and I think you did a fabulous job. Deserves some bloggy compliments too - I like!

sarah--it's an ironic joke...have you seen his psychotic rants about "winning"?
others--thank you :)

I love the red tights and scarf. They totally pull this whole look together. I need to learn from your accessorizing.

Either Charlie Sheen is mentally ill, and we're laughing at his misfortune here, or he's a prominent abusive misogynist who's profited off of sexism and has avoided responsibility for hurting women. I'm well aware of his rants, and they shouldn't be a joke.

I adore the red tights! It's just coming into tights weather here in Sydney and I'm gagging to bust out my collection :)

Nonetheless, I think you did an amazing job! I love the red tights, LOVE them.

I take my own pictures as well, once you get the hang out of it, it's a piece of cake and you're done in no time. Also, there is always the editor! ;)

It still looks super cute! Great layering. I think I totally take Eric for granted...I'm realizing that he and I are going to need to master our photo-taking skills with the tripod and remote for our his and hers posts!

Love the red paired with the neutrals!

I take my own pictures too, and trust me, in the beginning I would have shots where I wasn't even in it! So good job!

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT!!!!It's the best of both worlds-- you look comfortable without looking scrubby!

So refreshing to see that burst of red today!

What a great outfit! I'm digging the colours. And I think your photos are fine :) I take mine all the time though so I definitely sympathize when it comes to those "not quite right" self-timer photos.

I take my own photos most days and have been for, oh, the last six months, but yet I still don't have the timing down. I have an entire album of bloopers-- I don't take myself seriously enough to delete them. Anyway, I love, love, love your scarf.

Way to totally "win" with this outfit! As one who knows the difficulties of taking photos of herself with nothing more than a self-timer, I totally understand your woes! :)

But never fear - it does not take away from the awesomeness that is this outfit - such amazing colors and details!!
