I love the rain because it reminds me of where I went to college and where I grew up. Rain is cozy and makes reading inside extra-pleasant. Plus I love wearing rainboots. There's a story behind this skirt, too: I got it for $9 a couple years ago using this freakish trick I discovered on the anthro website. I debated whether or not to share it here because it's my favorite get-expensive-things-for-cheap magic and it only works because not many people know to do it, but as long as you promise not to tell anyone else, I'll share:
I put overpriced items in my cart on the anthro website and then forget about them for months. Then, like magic, I come back to the cart and the item's price has been slashed twice; while it has vanished from the sale section of the website, this beautiful thing is still sitting in my cart, available for purchase, one last lonely orphan skirt size 4 which has survived and is miraculously 85% off. And then I buy it for $9 and give it a good home. Pretty sneaky, huh?

Loving your mix of cool and warm tones and straight lines vs. the curves of your necklace. And that shopping trick is genius!

Great outfit Tania!! I think this is one of my favorites plus your bun is awesome!

That's a great secret. Thanks for sharing! I love the color of your rain boots. I don't think I've ever seen burgundy Hunter boots before.
Now THAT is a great trick! And a great skirt.
That's brilliant! I'm trying it.
I love the title...I'm reading/watching Winnie the Pooh in one of my classes right now!
Thanks for the trick! Love it!
HOw do you get the white "ash" off of wellies? It's so bothersome!
OMG thank you so much for the tip!! I never thought about that!!
Ok, I have never tried this on Anthro's website, but it's never worked for me at Urban Outfitters or Free People....:sigh: I think I'm going to try this out.
So I may have just spent a half hour browsing around Anthro's website after reading this post. Such a good tip...thanks for sharing! I'll make sure to keep it hush hush!
Loving that fun printed skirt for a rainy day!
Lidi @ Eclectic Flair
Oh, I've totally done that before, and it is indeed magic! That skirt is great; even better for only $9.
you can do the same thing with a wishlist on Anthro's sight. They're called popbacks and the only people who can see them are people who have them either in their cart or on their wishlists.
Hi Tania, so nice to see you wearing your Hunter Wellingtons again, you look so good and stylish in them.
Cheers,
Allen
Absolutely love the pattern of that gorgeous skirt hun.

I love this outfit, but I hate the rain (that might have something to do with living in Seattle). *sigh* The rain is much easier to appreciate from afar!
(Also, you look nothing like Christopher Robin.)
Okay I was not expecting to get the literary reference b/c I don't really read, but six-year-old me did. Hope you and your fabulous deal of a skirt have a great blustery day!
I love the rain too! (We don't get enough of it here in LA)
Anyway, I'm glad that you decided to share your Anthro shopping trick! Now I'm going to have to try it out... Fun skirt!
14 Shades Of Grey
Now THAT is an awesome trick. Is it just luck, or does Anthro actually not sell that size 4 skirt to anyone else because you've got dibs on it? :) I might need to share your tip in my "how to shop online" series...with your link and permission, of course!
So sneaky - I'm heading over to the anthro website as we speak. I'm loving the color of those boots too!
Great Skirt!! What a deal!! I may need to try that!
So you think you're going to have rain today, finally MI is experiencing some sun! So sandals for me.
I've done that before at Urban Outfitters before, but for some reason never thought to at Anthro! Awesome!!
I love that trench coat on you, by the way. The fit and length are perfect on you!
p.s. I found inspiration on your pinterest this week! I'm doing the collared shirt/slouchy sweatshirt/jeans/heels at work today! LOVE it! I work in research and will be going back to grad school *finally (!!!) this Fall and I have been so inspired by your blog. Thanks for the motivation! :-)
...still trying to get over the fact that you wear size 4 (how tiny are you?) :))))) !!!!!
The Hunter raining boots are an all time favorite of mine. I love the whole combo!
BRILLIANT!! I now have almost $2000 worth of beautiful Anthro stuff in my cart :) Oh, if only....
Lin--congratulations!!!! that's huge!!!!
Lovely!!

Your blog is amazing! Following! Follow back? <3
That is GENIUS!
I tried on THAT VERY skirt in a thrift store recently and discovered that my hips are too wide for it or something . . . it did not love me. Sad. I'm glad you have it, though, rocking it for the short girls! Woo.
I have never bought anything there before because the prices are so high. Maybe I will be able to work some magic with this trick.
My Heart Blogged
I love that skirt, you look absolutely adorable especially in the rain boots!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves the rain because it makes reading cozier!
Haha, I do the same thing with online shopping! :) That skirt is great!
Hey! Congrats to your sister! It really is quite the process, as I'm sure you know! Right now I'm headed to AZ, but I'm still waiting to hear from OHSU (LOVE Portland!) and I'm waitlisted at UCSD (where I work now, and would be my #1 choice)! One way or another though, I am starting this year!
Wow. I would think twice about sharing that piece of priceless information, too! But thank you! I'm gonna try and do that now! haha
I love the pattern of your skirt. Your rainy day outfits are just beautiful. Don't you just love serendipitous Anthro purchases? :)
Oh Tania, what a gorgeous skirt! I love the pattern -- and I'm totally a practitioner of the black art of holding things in your shopping cart for approximately eight decades...
Pretty genuis, that's what that is. I sure hope Anthro doesnt read your blog and wise up. You my dear are a fashion guru.
Write it in Lipstick
Many online retailers remove items from the searchable areas of their website once they're down to super-low quantities. However, if you ask about the item over the phone or still have a direct link to the item saved (or, I guess if you have a link to it via your shopping cart!) you can typically still find it & order it. I think that's why this trick works?
I do essentially the same thing w Anthropologie, which is the only way I can afford it. Well, that and being willing to spend a full hour digging through the racks to find the one shirt that's not $75. Psychotic determination and forgetfulness: these are the true virtues in life.
And if virtue is what get you a skirt like that, I'm all for it!! You look super cute and perfectly springy in the combo of rain boots and bright print. Now, if only you had Tigger to ride on a rain cloud or CR to make you feel like you were real and not just a make-believe bear obsessed w hunny...(I unfortunately can't the the backward "n" on a computer).
Great tip! And super cute outfit, I love the skirt paired with rainboots.

super tricky! i love it. oh...and the outfit is awesome too!

...oh my goodness, I want to try that now. That skirt is fantastic! And thank you for quoting Winnie The Pooh; it basically made my day.

Awesome tip!! And that skirt is amazing, what a find!
That´s the way to shop online girl! :D I´ve recently bought a air of Hunters but guess what, it hasn´t rained ever since... Murphy´s law!

P.S: I´m having a $100 Beauty giveaway (YSL, Chanel... etc). Just thought you might be interested! ;)
I'm such a fan of Hunter boots, had mine for a few years now and I love wearing them on rainy days. Think I'll wear mine today and bring flats in my bag to change into.
Also! I recently learned that if you take Armor All (for treating tires), spray it on your Hunter boots and then rub and wipe dry, it makes the rubber look like brand new and hides the waxy build up that the boots get after a while. Only cost a few bucks and my boots look brand new, even though I've had them for 3 years.
WOW!! I love that skirt it is incredible love the colors!!
http://behindtheleopardglasses.blogspot.com/
OMG. that is genius. I'm going to try that out next time! :)
That skirt is excellent - even more so at its bargain sale price!
do you just leave it in there or do you have to "save it for later"?
I want some of those hunter boots! This rain sucks - but those boots are awesome!
