works cited: out of print clothing tee; loft trousers; target clogs; gap cardigan
At a party the other weekend, a friend was wearing an amazing shirt printed with a vintage cover of The Sun Also Rises. After some snooping about where she found them, I bought myself two book-cover shirts and one for Christopher (a nerd can't resist tee shirts with literary references, I guess). Although my first love is British literature, I am a sucker for all things Melville--Moby Dick is one of my all-time favorite books, so this tee was the first in my cart. And because I've realized my pinterest is overrun with pictures of stylish-girl-holding-book, I had to drag out my dog-eared copy of Moby Dick for these pictures. While I'm sure Melville would be horrified to be an accessory, Ahab would surely understand the monomaniacal hunt for the best photo possible, right?
P.S. Wouldn't out of print be a fun sponsor for this blog? (hint, hint, here's hoping...)

I love out of print! My favorite is the catcher in the rye sweatshirt.
I love that tshirt, so perfect for book worms! x
I think this is my favourite outfit you've ever put together! I'm a huge lit nerd so the literary reference had me right away. By the way, these pants make you look fantastic! Your legs look five miles long.
This is one of your best posts ever. I saw it and yelled "YESS!" all by myself in my apartment. Moby-Dick is my favorite book of all time, and you look adorable!
loveee this. looks my daily outfit + a cool factor.

Your loft trousers is to die for!! I've been looking for similar style for months! And love this outfit combo ~ stylish & cute!
So cute. When I meet someone who reads they immediately gain cool points. Love this laid back Saturday look!
What size did you get?
They should become your sponsor - because it would be perfect, AND because of all the business I'm going to give them as a result of this post! Haha.
Completely love this! And now want To Kill a Mockingbird or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest tees. The Nook covers are also very tempting.
that's so cool! i love nersi things like this. hint my collection of lotr/sar trek shirts
Yay! I have the Fahrenheit 451 shirt from them, although it's not fitted. Being a librarian, I feel the need to have more of these shirts ... one for every day!
I love Out of Print clothing too! I have The Bell Jar and want to add Pride & Prejudice and To Kill a Mockingbird. I've been happy with the quality of the tee.
I really want Pride and Prejudice now. Thanks for sharing such a great site!
Ps - Have you ever shared a picture of your bookshelves before? I'd LOVE to see a collection of all the books you own. Maybe that makes me weird :S But i like seeing other peoples books lol
they do seem like a fitting sponsor! i vote yes! (:
you look so cool and hip here. you make me want to wear a moby dick tee and black frame glasses. i like this so much - weekend perfect!
Great shitrt and that you pose with the actual book is too cute! I need to do some book pics too now! :D

My junior English teacher once told our class to read the Cliff notes of Moby Dick. She wasn't a fan. But I love your shirt!
I have an Out of Print tee which has a vintage "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" cover on it. College professors and grad students love it!
Super cute and you hair is just adorable on you! Fingers crossed for "Out of Print" to sponsor you...it would be oh so fun!
Liesl :)
I have the Catcher in the Rye fleece from there and I want so many more of their t-shirts. I love the Song of Solomon v-neck especially!
You look great, per usual!
Haha love this so much.

you are the cutest nerd EVER! I love that shirt. i want one of those out of print ones quite badly. i'm a writer, so I definitely have a thing for books. and they are so cute!
I wish the women's shirts weren't so fitted. I'll have to try a men's small. I absolutely MUST HAVE the Catch-22 tee (in white)!
Love your Lit t-shirt, and how you styled it! YAY for love of literature!
Such a cute outfit! I love the fit of that shirt. How tall are you and what size is that if you don't mind me asking? I want to buy one but I'm afraid it'd be too short.
You make a tshirt look so chic!
Just Better Together
you look great. I love the tshirt! and I love Mobi Dick too!! xo
http://navlandstyle.blogspot.com/
for the sizing: i'd recommend going a size up for women's shirts, which run a bit snug. men's shirts fit true to size. both styles run plenty long!
i got a small for me in women's and a medium for christopher in men's. the small snug--fits more like an XS.
I LOVE this. I really want the To Kill a Mockingbird shirt - that's my favorite book of all time. Thanks for sharing the link!

You look so cute! And out of print clothing is so cool, but I'm kind of sad they don't have a "girly tee" with the Catch-22 cover...girls love that book too! Mainly me and my best friend....
Awesome thanks for the sizing info. :)
Hey Tania!! This outfit is definitely different to most of your other outfits! You are looking very cool here!

i am just sad they don't have my all time fave: a confederacy of dunces!
I've always loved Out of Print shirts, though I don't own one yet. I've had my eye on the On The Road one for awhile, but I just saw a Slaughterhouse Five that's even better. Invisible Man is hard to resist, too. Some of the other ones are just as great, but either I haven't read the book or didn't like it that much. I couldn't go there...it would be like wearing a t-shirt of a band I'd never heard. How nerdy would I be if I read A Clockwork Orange of Tale of Two Cities just so I could buy a shirt?
http://stephthebird.blogspot.com/
L.O.V.E. this look. SERIOUSLY love it!!!
MY GOD I love your nerdy blog! I have had my eye on that T for several months now, but I wasn't sure if buying it was going just a little too far... maybe it is, but now I'm gonna do it anyway! I've also been considering the Song of Solomon v-neck because Toni Morrison is wonderful.
From one lit nerd to another,
Jen
That's hilarious- I'm reading Moby Dick for the first time right now and LOVE it. Such amazing writing.
Super cute shirt too.
I love Out of Print! I have the Lolita tee and I wear it so often - they are so comfy and the prints are awesome. You look great in this one, the whole outfit is adorable!
This outfit is so cute! very "nerd chic"
http://plainjanegoesglam.blogspot.com/
I really like the way you styled the shirt. Books are the best (and nerdiest) accesory.
My Heart Blogged
In all the time I've been following you, this is the first time I've thought, "Yes! A true answer to the question posed in the blog title!" Wonderful. I want Little Dorrit. So obscure. So perfect.
Um, WoW! This looks is ME. I love it! I hope they sponsor you, because it's a perfect match! I'm already over at the site clicking away, CUUUTE stuff. I absolutely love, love, love. this look.
Oh MAN, decision me this - 1984 or Brave New World???
I love your more laid back outfits! And I LOVE Out of Print!! I want all of their shirts, it's so hard to decide which one to buy!
i love your outfit! the nerdy look is so NOT nerdy and very chic. I love your choice of "prop" with this! Cheers!
i love the outfit! & the pants are amazing, i love every outfit you've worn them with :)
First time commenting, but I have been reading your blog for a while. Can I just say, I aspire to be you?! You seem so cool!!! I like to think we'd be friends in real life. Anyways, I absolutely LOVE everything you wear. I wish Out of Print had one for Don Quixote; I read it in my Sophomore English class and really loved it!
I got my best friend who is an English teacher the Pride & Prejudice tee last year for her birthday - it's all I can do to not get one for myself!! :)
Love Out of Print - it's a book-lover's/do-gooder's dream come true!
Small Time Style
cute outfit! and I love that you posed with your Moby Dick book as well.
You're so cute and literary! This is geek chic done right! The topknot is a perfect touch.
By the way, that color of blue is gorgeous on you!
That tee is perfect! x hivenn
I just found your blog and I'm so glad I did! You are totally adorable and this outfit is great. I'm a big reader too (currently reading Sarah's Key) and I like how you incorporated that into your outfit. It's a great way to show people who you are through your outfits, which is what fashion is all about IMO. I'll be back for sure.
XOXO
great combination :)

Love this outfit and love that site! I just found 6 things I wanted. Thanks!
From one English grad student to another, you might also look into Bloomsday at the Rosenbach Library in Philadelphia for Joyce tshirts. They make a different shirt each year, and they're usually pretty cool--I've got four. :)
Just ordered 'To Kill a Mockingbid' shirt and 'Great Gatsby' - two of my absolute favorite books. This is great! Thanks for posting about the site; I'll be on the lookout for more tshirts there.
Love this! I've been wanting one of Out of Print's shirts for a while now, but just can't decide which one to get. Too many good ones to choose from.
Only you could make a tee shirt look chic. :) I neeeeeeed those trousers. Ah, so cute.

So What If I Like Pretty Things
I've seen these on modcloth and was curious of the maker! Thanks for the link!
I love this outfit! And my goodness, you look... awesome. There's something about that shirt and the color-scheme of that outfit that makes you look very hour-glassy. Gahhhh. So jealous.
I love everything about this!
http://work-it-blog.blogspot.com/
I love that T! How fun. I have been eying their sweatshirts for a while now. If only there was a Jane Eyre one, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Love those t-shirts! And BTW, I just sent them an email asking about a special size for one of them, so mentioned that I found the site from your blog. ;)
Ahh, love Melville!! I think my favorite is Bartleby the Scrivener.
Those t-shirts are amazing! If/when I buy one, I'll let them know I heard of them from your blog!
Thank you! This is a perfectly timed post! My sister is graduating in a month with an English degree, and I've been trying to figure out what to get her, from one English major to another... I decided the Moby Dick and Wuthering Heights shirts were perfect. One to cover American survey course and the other to cover British lit survey course.... ahhh, takes me back to sophomore year!
(Obviously, you should be a sponsor. You've already sold 2!)
What a cool shirt! I need to check these out...
Love this brand, and the guys are really great (did an interview with them a couple of weeks ago). I am buying myself one for my birthday, just can't decide which one!
you look so cute :) love the blog!
