In Pursuit of Bright Colors

Well, I caved to the marketing and finally bought something from the Target designer collaboration lines. I just love the way the blue version of this dress looked on a few bloggers this fall, and I don't own much in this dark pink/red shade (most of my dresses are shades of blue, gray, or black) so I was tempted to the point of purchase when I walked in to the store and there was this one lonely dress left hanging on the rack, miraculously in my size. It cost a little more than I like to pay for a Target dress so I'm planning to wear this baby into the ground, starting with a very standard Tania pairing--brown tights, boots, and mustard cardigan. But get ready to get sick of this dress, because I'm going to get my money's worth on it.

Who designed it? We don't have Target over here so I know nothing about their designer collaboration lines. It's really pretty!

Ooo is that one of the Tucker for target ones? I love it on you! Don't you dare make me lose my self control and buy one too!!

How cute! I didn't see that dress at my Target; must be sold out already. That's the one thing I hate about those designer lines...

SO CUTE!!!!

I die for this pattern on the dress.
I have an obsession with florals. and ruffles, but thats another story.
Adorable ensemble, all together!

What a great purchase! I think the bright colours suit you very well. I need more colour in my wardrobe too. I can't wait to see how you style this dress next time!

I fell to the charms of Target dresses a while ago. You won't be disappointed! They are cute and wash well! =)

I have that dress in the blouse version. It's surprisingly versatile. It was one of the pieces in my Fall 30 for 30 challenge and got quite a bit of wear.

Lovely! And so fun with the yellow cardi.

For people asking about the Target Designer Collective line, the whole thing is here: http://www.target.com/b?node=16275561&ref=sc_iw_ss

The only direct link I could find to this dress was really long, but if you go to the main site above it's called "Tucker for Target® Signature Dress in Floral Print". Really lovely!

I'm the same way when I purchase a slightly-expensive dress--thinking of things like the cost-per-wear and trying to get my money's worth! I do think it was a great purchase, as the colors are really pretty on you. Looking forward to seeing how you remix it!

FutureLint said...

I'm glad someone else thinks the Target designer collabs are expensive! The only ones I own were at least 50% off! I do like this dress though, the color is so pretty, especially with that yellow!

What Would a Nerd Wear said...

thanks, guys! melissa is right--it's the tucker for target dress.
and christine--i'm with you!! they are pricey for target. the tucker one was actually one of the least expensive, but it still is not exactly reasonable by my cheapo standards :)

This color looks great on you, and it is hard to justify spending too much at Target sometimes. I love them for their deals, not when their 'designers'.

I caved and bought the Libertine striped dress. It was on the cheaper end of the pricing, and I'm going to get a ton or wear out of it.

Love. It.
You look amazing.

I could totally recreate this entire outfit, too. Twinsies! :)

It's good to know other (more fashionable) ladies are as cheap as I am. I know I'm cheap when I'm mulling over a $4.99 tag at a Goodwill, haha! You look fabulous in this color combo, though. Makes me ache for sunny weather and maybe a popsicle.

The Target dress is lovely on you, even if you did 'cave' to the marketing. LOL. So many bloggers are beginning to pull out their fun spring tones and it makes me wish spring would just hurry up and get here already! - Katy

I saw that dress at le Target as well!!! I ended up not buying it because it was a bit pricier and I was worried about what to wear it with. You definitely have me reconsidering it though- it looks gorgeous with that mustard cardigan!

I love the outfit! I picked up the same dress today at Target, but remembered my pledge to only buy clothes that I can wear in the classroom. I think it was a bit too short on me. Boo!

I eyed that dress for a while the first time it came out. I love the way your cardigan pops against the fabric. Nicely done!

This dress is so amazing. I've seen it around a few blogs and also in the store. I am utterly tempted to make it my own each time. Instead, I've decided to live vicariously through YOU. (please don't be creeped out, I promise I'm not a complete weirdo) Anyway, I say, wear it out! I can't wait to see all of your creativity.
