Yesterday was the first day of spring and what better way to celebrate than wearing sequins to the grocery store, getting lots of funny looks from midwesterners in their sweats, and then spending the evening barbecuing in the driveway (classy, I know). This is also my triumphant return to the internet after a long weekend of celebrating and staying far, far away from my laptop, so I'm planning lots of good stuff on the blog this week, including a great giveaway and a fun swap. And maybe even more spring sequins, sweatpants be damned.

I love that you wore that to run errands! I live in the midwest, too, so I understand the looks people give you if you're all "gussied up" for basic things.
I totally get that, when I'm back in Missouri I get asked all the time why I'm wearing my "nice jeans" to the store, or a dress or a skirt. It's very bothersome. Down with sweatpants!
Also, I love this outfit!
I love this skirt, and Happy Spring to you too!
That's a great to spend the first day of spring!
I ADORE this outfit!!! Sequins and denim = love, and as a fellow midwesterner I completely understand the funny looks. But keep rocking it, I love it!
the sequined skirt is so much fun and it's perfect to ring in the first day of spring!
cute & little
Oh man, I love this outfit! So perfect, and especially love the pairing with white keds for a little irreverence :)
hey anything with seaquins is better than everything without. loove it. and aahh no tights! so jealous )=
This outfit totally inspired mine this morning for class: gray tee, bright skirt (not sequins though), floral keds, and jean jacket. Thanks for making Monday morning dressing a little bit easier!
I saw that skirt at the outlet this weekend, and now I wish that I'd bought it.
that is such a fun skirt! love it!
That skirt is so fun! Alas, the weather here doesn't seem to have gotten the memo that it's spring.
I really like the skirt, and jean jacket together. It's like casual meets fancy.

YAY sequins! I love pairing a casual pair of sneakers with something dressy like this. :)
That sequin skirt is awesome!!
LOVE the sequins. Your day sounds absolutely lovely.
Your skirt looks so SHORT! But hey, whatever it takes to tell winter to scram, right? :-)
Happy second day of spring to you, lovely T.
Very cute skirt. I just love wearing sequins in the daytime - I also live somewhere where it's not quite "normal" and I get all kinds of stares and comments. It's fun to challenge people's ideas of what clothing is appropriate for different situations. :)
I have a funny sweatpants related story. I grew up and went to college in the midwest, so I know all about the wearing sweats everywhere thing. Many years later, I pretty much never leave the house without being "dressed." The other day, I was doing laundry, wearing comfy around-the-house sweatpants and my KU hoodie in honor of the tournament. :) Anyway, ended up getting locked out of my apartment when I went down to change my laundry - no keys, no phone, no money other than a couple extra quarters. I had to walk down to a local hip barber shop to use the phone on a Saturday evening in my sweats! I've gotten so used to never wearing sweats out of the house lately that it felt SO WEIRD to be out in my grubby doing-laundry clothes, especially on a Sat evening. Kind of funny. :)
Anyway, sorry for the long post, but you made me think of this story, so I just had to share! :)
I don't know about your neighbors, but I'm loving this skirt... so pretty!
PIECE OF CAKE. PEACE OF MIND.
I have no idea how I missed this post this morning?! I love the skirt. I know what you mean about weird looks. Southwest PA is pretty much the same way. People think I'm crazy for wearing anything other than jeans, let alone sequins.
i love the mix of the sequin skirt with the denim. i'm glad you can finally bare your legs!
also- is that the backpack of your dreams that you've previously posted about? looks great!
I like the sequins! You remind me of the 80/90's! In a good way of course
Just Better Together
Best 80's revival look EVER. It's so fresh and clean and crisp and casual. The neutral sparkle, the light denim, the white tennies. I ADORE it.
oooooh, i am loving the sequins! what a great way to welcome spring. :) that bbq sounds amazing, too.
xo
i wander, i wonder
KEDS KEDS KEDS! yay
This outfit screams BBQing in the driveway. Good work!
Denim and metallic, genius!

I've been catching up on posts after a few weeks AWOL from reading and wowee! This is a lot different than the last few outfits. You look great though. And bare legs! Wee, it's spring!
are you pregnant??!?!?!!?!?
um, nope, not pregnant, just not a flattering angle on an awkwardly fitting skirt, but thanks for asking. i will be heading to the gym for sit ups on the double.
Whatever. It is obvious you're not pregnant. I don't know what that was about. Please don't take such a nasty comment to heart.
you look so 80's chic. i might steal this look from you
Awesome outfit! In fact, I've always thought that your cute figure always make your outfits look especially pretty. :)
well loose teeth, you're right about one thing...i don't like hearing it, but only because i don't give a rat's tail about looking as thin as possible at all times. but thanks for your unsolicited advice :)
The comment above mine is well said! As for the veggie burgers... let me know when you try them. They are drool worthy. And...I have come across more and more people that eschew burgers but eat white meat. I'm glad you do what's right for you!
You look AMAZING in your keds. Just LOVE IT when you break them out! Us Keds wearing nerds need to stick together. More please?.
