Why Flourescent Lighting Should Be Banned From the Earth

Works Cited--Outfit 3
dress: anthro (gift)
sweater: thrifted
belt: mommed
tights: target
boots: clarks

Ordinarily, I wouldn't post these crummier-than-crummy indoor shots, but it's been a hectic day and by the time Christopher and I got three seconds to take pictures, it was pitch black outside and the only suitable place was in his office at school, under the never-ever-flattering-not-even-if-you're-Megan-Fox fluorescent lighting. Plus it was negative ten degrees today so I wasn't about to take off my coat at the bus stop so we could get outdoor shots--brr! So indoor shots it was, because I gotta plow on during a 30 for 30. And anyway, I kind of liked this outfit, which was cheerful and bright and garnered a few smiles today because I look like a rainbow against a sea of black and gray. And I solemnly promise that for the sake of my photographic sanity, I will take magnificent photos with all the snow tomorrow, when the forecast is for warmer temps and a slower schedule.

If it makes you feel any better - you still look lovely, even in fluorescent light! And that is still a fab outfit!

Much love,

I hope your cherry outfit was able to make up for the terrible lighting.

You're so lucky, I think you look great in ANY kind of lighting! I've done a few indoor pictures with bad lighting AND flash (eek!), so I can relate on not being happy with the results.

Christopher must be happy that you are definitely getting him his money's worth on that dress!

It was frigid here, too. But you look both bright and warm. I love the shade of orange on your dress!

love the outfit! Honestly, it's encouraging to see this post today because I had similar photo results today.

Been LOVING your blog, btw. One of my favs.

30x30 press on! Good luck on Day 4!

This looks very cheerful indeed! And you're right about fluorescent lighting, it's the worst.

Gotta love those colors!

Very cute! Also, loving the term "mommed." Many of my wardrobe staples are "mommed" as well! :)

That dress and sweater work so perfectly together!

I really like the bright color of the dress. It's so easy to get stuck in a rut, and wear all dark clothes during the winter.

yay for orange and maroon grad students :) although, i'm always one of the waves rolling along in that endless sea of black and gray.

there is a bonus to the indoor shot, though. that metal bookcase. that old-school gray-green is one of my favorite colors on the planet. it's almost exactly the same as my front door :)

I hear ya about not having time for anything but indoor shots. I don't know how y'all have time to take outdoor photos everyday! Not too mention in the cold!

You look great and everyone deserves a day off, so enjoy the warmth and the indoor photos.

I love how you've layered the dress and sweater - looks warm and cozy. Great colors too!

I'm loving the braided hair you've been sporting lately. It's a relatively new thing for you (at least in photos, yes?) and it looks great! More boho...which is a compliment...especially when you're wearing such lovely earthy colors.

It's adorable how you "mom" things. Reminds me of how my sister "sisters" things.

we live most our lives indoors, at least in this sort of weather! sometimes, it seems fashion bloggers are pathologically obsessed with outdoor photos, and nothing else will do. but don't worry, you look fine-- and realistic! :)

Your photos are actually really good for indoor photos! They turned out much better than mine this week... If only spring would come sooner!

I'm totally with ya on the too-cold-too-dark-had-to-take-pics-inside-with-horrible-lighting deal. Today was just one of those days {ending with a Test at 10pm lovin' it}.

PS I Love you hair like that! I'm gonna have to try it soon!

I think the lighting in my apartment is even worse than this, so don't worry! Your shots look fine to me! I really enjoy your warm colors in this cold weather :).

You always do such a great job of mixing orange in with other colors. And you still look great under that fluorescent lighting.

I like the setting a lot. It reminds me of college and when I spent so many hours in a closet that was technically an office. Ah, the good ol' days. Your outfit is really cute and all the boots you have been wearing are adorable!

The red and orange color combination looks fantastic on you! Also, the lighting might seem bad, but you still look lovely. So I guess that makes you better-looking than Megan Fox - take THAT to the bank! :)

That lighting is still so much better than the lighting in my house which is horrible. I like the combination of colors and the outfit as a whole. :)

I think it's a rule that literature folks must have a poster of Van Gogh's Cafe Terrace at Night somewhere in their life. We had one decorating the Writing Center of my undergrad...until I painted Andy Warhol inspired portraits of the four elder statesmen of the English Department to use instead.

I adore these colors together!

Those colors are great together. And the pictures look just great.
I tried a similar look the day before this and did NOT look this wonderful! You look fantastic.
Are you going to be rocking the blazer Tuesday?
