Like lots of people in the midwest, we had a snow day today (yippee!). After working in my study all morning, Christopher and I went outside to build our snow-hippo (prepare for disappointment; it was not a success). I made Christopher take this picture to prove that I do indeed own a coat, wear it every day, and look pretty darn boring in it. (But there will always be people who say "You must be cold in [insert outfit here]!" to which I present you this coat, which would keep a snowman warm).
The snow was super powdery and despite our best efforts (involving our recycling bin, a shovel, and multiple snowballs), we had to give up on our elaborate plans to make a snow hippo and we decided to play snow football with Christopher's brother instead.
I'm not going to post the pictures of the two of them playing this afternoon because they are both making silly monkey faces at me. It was a terrific day; I sort of wish we'd have snow days more often :)

How cute! I live in Texas and we might actually get TWO WHOLE INCHES of snow on Friday, which is actually enough to close things around here! And personal posts are why I love blogs more than fashion mags now.. if I just wanted the outfits I'd read a magazine! The personality of the blogger makes a huge difference.

Aww love the attempted hippo! I definitely went for the puffy coat today, too. It was just plain necessary! Yay for snow days (there are VERY rare at "our" university...a little jealous you've experienced one!!).
Darn it I wish I had a snow day, or maybe not. I hate it when it's so cold outside. On the plus side it's my chance to attempt my first snow hippo. Any advice? Like do's and don't LOL. Well the coat is lovely and I hope your other readers are satisfied that you do indeed own a coat and look lovely in it.

We had a fun snow day, too! Well, after we dug out the cars. There was lots of climbing on snow drifts and eating of nachos.
You should try the hippo again the next time it snows. I bet it'll work.

I love your snow hippo, even though it looks like he went on a starvation diet. My kids and I made a snow chicken the last time it snowed (we got four whole inches here in Texas, which was a big big deal.) We had a blast.

Hippos can be violent, as Rudyard Kipling well knew, since one broad hippo aunt spanked the curious elephant child for asking questions about her red eyes. On the other hand, they can be wise too in their warnings. So you and Christopher must exert both caution and respect for hippos.
If the elephant child had listened to the hippo he would not have met with a sad end by the great grey-green, greasy Limpopo River, all set about with fever-trees.
