I saw these two pieces hanging together in the closet and they reminded me of an outfit in one of J Crew's fall catalog, where a model wore a maroon skirt and turtleneck together with a leather belt. I've never really gone for total monochrome before, but I kind of like the faux-dress-effect produced by two same-color pieces tucked into one another. Unrelated: I wish my street weren't looking so glum! We took these in the "golden hour," which lately has been more like "the hour of fog and dreariness." Okay, done with my whine :)
P.S. I helped the amazing Sal with a feature on workwear across a spectrum of jobs--you can read here, if you're interested.

I ripped that page out of the J Crew catalog months ago! It was by far my favorite look and you nailed it here! Love it.
The colour looks good on you, I love the scarf too it's fabulous. If I tried to take pictures on my street I'd be blown away it's so windy right now it's crazy.
I was going to comment and say "great dress" but it's two different pieces. I love the combination!

The scarf looks so snuggly! Best get on to knitting mine for winter...although with this weather I could probably use it now...hrrmm...
Also, loving the 'faux' dress idea too! Nice work girl!

Hey Tania! Super cute outfit as always! :)
Re: Formspring meanie (I can write more here versus formspring/twitter!)- You have a fabulous blog with tons of followers and super cute clothes. Don't stop what you're doing and don't let mean people get you down. For every 1 meanie there is, there's hundreds of fans, don't forget that!
And PS. I love your poses, you always look so natural and not posey-posey. I don't know what the jerk was talking about, have they never watched ANTM? It's like pigeon-toe central! LOL.
Me lo gusto mucho, especialmente el coordinacion de ese colores! :)
For some reason monochromatic dressing is very appealing at the moment. Cute outfit!
I want to steal that cowl and those socks from you. Actually, I sort of know how to knit, so maybe I should just make my own cowl. And socks. If I have time. Knitting socks is kind of difficult.
Great outfit. I love the dress.
My Heart Blogged

The scarf is amazing!!!! The whole outfit is AMAZING! :D
Like so many others said, I didn't realize this wasn't a dress. So I was like, "Of course it's monochromatic!" Very cute. The belt makes it, I think.
I totally thought this was a dress until I read what you wrote about it. I like this, and I especially like that you borrowed this idea from a j crew catalog. Nice stylin'! :)
Better Than a Milk Mustache

Oh i didn't even notice it was two separates at first-definitely thought it was a lovely maroonish dress! Tricky tricky:) And I feel you on the gray dreary-ness...it's another very, very cold, snowy day in Ohio for me!
Tall socks with tights. I love it.
I didn't realize it was a shirt and skirt! So cute! I'm totally stealing this idea for an outfit. ;)
