Old age must be making me soft, because I just couldn't bear to do outdoor shots (it was -20 yipes!) so we bungled through some indoor pictures in a passably-lit part of our kitchen. I loved this outfit and was a little bummed that it couldn't be photographed in better light. Being trapped got me thinking about indoor people vs. outdoor people--those who are happier doing indoor things like reading, movies, and games vs. people who love to go on hikes, walks, and adventures outside. In grade school, I loved nothing better than sitting and reading all day long, never leaving the house. But as a grown up, I feel stir crazy when I'm inside too long. I love to bicycle around, go for walks, or play snow football. So all these freezing days where it's too icy and dangerous to bicycle or too cold to spend anytime outside (even to take outfit shots) are giving me cabin fever!

Gosh if I thought 8 degrees was too cold than negative -20 is most certianly too frigid for outfit photos. And guess what?! We are both wearing our gingham shirts {mine will be up tomorrow though} AGAIN, great minds?

So classy. It's an expected combo with unexpected details--the twisted belt, cuffs, brooch. This could absolutely be conference attire.

i love the brooch on the cardigan and pairing it over the gingham shirt is perfect. and -20 is way to cold to take outfit pictures! i guess i should be grateful it's only freezing weather here. :)

cute and little

That brooch is the perfect bit of interest on the sweater!

It's freezing here, too. Lame.

I love this outfit! And in my opinion you're a trooper for even getting out of bed when it is -20!!!

so true about cabin fever! i can't wait to bike around again and run OUTside instead of at the gym. on the plus side, there are things like snow shoeing and ice skating :)
love your pumps, i've been seeing those everywhere recently, need to snag a pair!

oh, I caved this morning too and did indoor pictures. Not only because of the cold but because there is SO much ice! My balance just isn't that good. We're wearing similar skirts today :o)

I adore this outfit!!! I've been wearing a lot of gray and blue lately too. I love how the brighter blue of the gingham really helps brighten the whole outfit. Lookin good!

Adorable outfit. Love the brooch (is it a brooch?) detail and the sexy punch from your black pumps.

I'm digging your original wood floors, too, but that's a little off topic. Don't older houses have the coolest character?

Well this outfit is just too cute. And personally, I'm an indoor/outdoor person. I like the outside, but not really strenous activity. Except for walking. I looooove long walks.

I think you were smart to stay inside. It is fun to see indoor shots sometimes, since I like seeing pictures of bloggers' homes.

I am loving this outfit. I never wear straight shirts but you've inspired me to start breaking them out. And I don't blame you for not venturing outside - it's 18 degrees here in Dallas (which is positively balmy compared to where you are) and I have no choice but to stay indoors. Cabin fever, indeed.

I'm a total indoor, city person and yet being snowed in still gives me cabin fever. Anyway, don't look so sad about being inside, you have awesome wood floors and the pictures really didn't turn out bad at all.

The shirt really makes an outfit, doesn't it? I love it, what a great staple piece to have! I agree with "Sam I am", indoors or outdoors you look great!!

I'm an outdoors person (rock climbing) so the winter months used to always make me sad - not only the cold but also the lack of daylight hours after work for time to play outside. Recently I've started backcountry skiing and ice climbing though, so now I'm getting by even in the cold! I'm counting down the days to daylight savings though! I'm crossing my fingers for you that the weather improves soon!

I LOVE that outfit! I think it's one of my favorites of yours for sure. I definitely need to get one of those pencil skirts, the silhouette is just perfect.

Is the lack of smiling reflective of the fact that you had to do the shoot inside? Cheer up! The photos are still so cute, as is the outfit!

You look so classic here! Also very long and lean. Oh man, I feel you on being an outside person. It's so tough during the winter feeling all cooped up- just think, spring will be here before we know it!

Outfits like this make me feel inspired to do more work than if I'm in bum clothes. Very cute!
My cut-off for taking pictures outside is somewhere around 30 degrees. You're 50 degrees braver than me!

I love this outfit, and I think it's the brooch that really makes it for me. It's funny how it's the little things!

So cute! I love the color combination and the brooch. I do not blame you for the inside pics -20 is kind of ridiculous. I read your blog for the outfits not the pictures!

I was an indoor girl before I moved to Minnesota. Now, I really love the outdoors but these below freezing temps are just too much to bear sometimes.

That is such a lovely outfit. It looks great on you. I totally know what you mean about being cooped up to long inside, it drives me nuts too!

NEGATIVE 20? Well, at least I know you live inside, now. :)

Gosh hun it must be so cold if you're taking photos inside!! I really feel for you... will you hate me if i tell you it was 50 here on the weekend? (ps. please don't hate me :) )

I don't blame you for taking indoor shots! I'm from Tucson, AZ, and the high today was 65 degrees! (Sorry, sorry, don't mean to brag...haha.) I think I would absolutely die in -20. Oh well, come summer, I'll be the one crying in the 110 degree heat...;)

When I was younger I never wanted to leave the house. Now I always want to go to parks and things. I think it is because I work in a building all day and can't go outside so when I get the chance I want to.

I don't think it's age--that's just too cold to be outside! Then again, I do think that I am an indoor person (and also just a weenie in general about weather). I love this classic, professional look--especially the added brooch!

This outfit is fantastic -- simple and classic, but still a bit quirky. I love the brooch (and your nails!).
