One thing I knew I wanted in my closet before another 30 for 30 was a red striped shirt. The color red makes me feel super-pretty and powerful, and I was surprised to find I don't own almost any red garments. I decided to spring for a Saint James red and white shirt but when it arrived, it was uncomfortably thick, stiff cotton with a boxy fit and these weirdly baggy arms. It got sent back lickety split and then I was lucky enough to find this super-soft light version for about $20 at urban outfitters (the same one, I think, that Emily has). With red lips, I feel secretly a little glamorous and french even though I'm just wearing jeans and a tee.

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

I LOOOOOVE this outfit! I think I will make a trip to Urban when it warms up, and look for that stripped tee. I'm really into stripes this season for some reason......
I really like it, and I agree it reminds me how the french dress. They dress simple, classic, and never too loud. It's all about investing in classic clothes, and proportions. I really love idea of french dressing, and have read a lot of great articles about it.

So cute outfit. You look a bit like a sailor girl, just in winter :) The red lips suit you!
the lip colour is amazing on you!
Love the outfit! Subtle chic! Oh and I have that same cowl from Gap in navy!
Well, you *look* little glamorous and French, so that's probably why you feel it ;) I'm just really loving your style. I suspect your blog is going to be very helpful in shaking up my "too safe" stay at home mom look. These clothes are timeless and could be worn by a wide range of ages, but you look totally youthful and fresh even in classic pieces. Gush gush gush, I know. But I do really like what you put together. :)
You are so cute! This is so Parisian looking, I'm in love :) I want a red striped shirt now! (Even if horizontal stripes aren't a pregnant gal's best friend, I don't care ;) )

The first thing I thought was... great lip colour! Lately I have discovered the power of a nice lip colour. In fact, lately I have refused to wear anything except track pants and lipstick...
Tres chic, for sure. This is casual but still put-together.
I am sooo in love and jealous of your scarf! I saw it at Gap, and didn't snatch it up and I am now kicking myself!!!

Love the lip color! It has nice pink undertones. For a really vibrant red, I recommend DuWop's Private Red.

Oh la la! There is something very French about this look! And the scarf - I want!
I love this! Yo do look very French, especially with your red lips. I really love hat you wore slightly wide leg pants with the fitted top. I have so many pairs of flared and wide leg pants that I can't figure it how to wear. But you've given me lots of inspiration now!
