This week has been pretty hectic already so my brain was already frazzled when I got up this morning, and matters didn't get any better when I vacillated about what to wear for half an hour, leaving the aftermath of a closet hurricane on the bedroom floor. Part of my indecision is because a new 30 for 30 starts on Monday and I still have no idea what pieces I will pick to take me through the remix. At the moment, I'm trying to avoid the favorite half of my closet just to make sure I don't jump the gun on my 30 pieces (hey, my creativity has limits!). Are you doing the 30 for 30? Even though I'm a little nervous about it, it will be a relief to have limited option to work with, and hopefully it will prevent more natural disasters in my closet for the next 30 days!

I love this outfit! The blue and gray look so pretty together. I am glad you are doing this 30x30 because I have really enjoyed your remixes in the past! I don't think you need to be nervous!

I just started a blog and I'm beginning with my first 30x30 too, I'm definitely nervous!

I love your sweater/dress combo!! It looks very warm!! Good luck with teh new 30 for 30! I wouldn't be able to do it because I don't think I could come up with 30 different outfits! =P

Hi Tania, it seems the half hour paid off! Blue / gray / brown, interesting and cool color combo!
I'm doing the 30 for 30 remix as well, 1st time...argh...I have (in my mind) picked out most of the items, but this weekend it's going to get serious...spread them out on the bed and try to make the best choices. Excitement!!!

That blue is a great color on you. I'm just avoiding the 30x30...it's a complication my life does not want right now.

I love the brown and blue together!

Love the blue cardigan with the belt, very cute =) I'm planning on doing the 30 for 30 for the first time, bit worried that I'll get bored of what I pick!! =D

I actually love your outfit today! Especially that sweater! It's such a pretty color on you.

And I'm doing the 30 for 30. :) I did the Fall version, and this time around I tried to avoid some of my go-to pieces mostly because I feel I rely on them too much. I included some of my favorites, obviously, but not all of them like I did last time. I made sure that I added some pieces I don't wear as often as well, that way I can try and wear them more.

I LOVE the color of that cardigan!! And how you paired it with grey - that is just gorgeous...definitely inspiring some ideas for me! :)

I am doing the 30 for 30 again - I too am trying to avoid wearing items that I may want to use (still trying to decide exactly WHAT I want to use :)) but I am also looking forward to having some outfits planned out!! Makes life sooo much easier.

I did the same thing to my closet last night. And this will be my first time doing the 30 for 30 remix. I'm excited and a bit worried, but it will be fun! I'll be looking forward to seeing your remixes. They're always so creative!

I have been eying that belt for a while now! Love it on you.

I'm definitely doing the 30 for 30 again! I know what you mean though, because I had to avoid my red and white top this morning. I need to save it for next week!

missvinylahoy said...

Why, yes, I am doing the next 30x30 :) I am also trying to avoid certain parts of my closet, because I want to save those pieces!! I do love this outfit though. You could roll these right into the 30x30 and look smashing! :) This could be day 1!

This looks comfortable and put together (even if it left the closet hurricane in its wake!).
I also am doing the 30 for 30. Have not picked out my items. EEK! I should get on that!

aaez said...

love this outfit. you always look so put together! i will be participating in this winters 30 for 30...it's my first time AND my first attempt at blogging! eek i'm a bit nervous but very excited!

I hate days where that happens, nothing seems to go smoothly if I can't figure out an outfit within 3 changes.

I'm sitting out this 30x30 challenge, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do!

LOVE this color palette! I just adore that dress, too - so sexy yet simple at the same time!

not doing the 30x30 - just don't have the nerve, yet!

I have a closet hurricane that has exploded out of my closet and into my bedroom. It's pretty awful. I never did the 30 x 30 because I didn't have time to even think about it, but now I'm going to give it a shot!

Rebecca said...

I'm doing the 30x30. I think it is a little intimidating because other bloggers make it look so easy.

Desiree said...

I did it last time and I'm up for it again. I had SO much fun during the last remix and I'm pretty excited for this one, too. That being said, I've been doing the same as far as avoiding the pieces I MIGHT pick for the 30x30. You can only push it so far, hehe.

BiblioMOMia said...

I've been avoiding my closet too--because I'm doing "6 items or less," and I only have 6 pieces of clothing! I'm doing the 30 for 30 too, and I'm hoping it will feel luxurious after 6.

And if this is you off your game, and I can't wait to see what you have in store!

Danielle said...

I'm doing the 30x30 this time around... after following all you girls the last time and being so inspired. I had my list of 30 and then it turned into 45 and then 50 and then just when I FINALLY cut it back down to 30, I added one more item. FAIL.

Still deciding what to cut!

Theresa said...

Me too! I have no clue what I want in my 30 for 30...I did the last Fall one and loved it but didn't have a blog until just a week ago, so this will be my first on the blog (thestyle-tree.blogspot.com)! Is it bad if I pick several that were in my first 30??

love the neutral base with the beautiful blue sweater!

I love everything about this outfit! I tend to be drawn towards grays and browns, especially in winter, but I love the way you broke it up with some blue.

This is such a great oufit! I really like the sweater.

Wonderful sweater and together with the belt!! It's all you needed to make this outfit sparkle with freshness!
I am also doing the 30X30! I am excited and a bit nervous. Your tips from your last time in November really helped me pick my pieces. Now I still need to figure some combinations, but I am confident!
Just hope that I will be able to do it justice. All you girls that tried before make it look so easy!

The gray dress looks really nice with the sweater... I think I'm going to do the 30 for 30. Goodness help me with Winters the way they are here in MN but I'll just have to layer accordingly, I suppose.

I'm doing the 30 for 30 this time around. I participated last summer and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to 'flexing my remixing muscles' again this time around.

Love that blue on you!

I'm doing the 30 for 30 for the first time and I'm excited about it! It's taking me forever to pick my 30 pieces, though. When did my closet get so big?!

Elle Enchanted said...

i'll be joining you guys this round and am super nervous now.

I'm doing it! I'm excited/nervous. The only bad part is a lot of the pieces I've chosen I've already remixed in previous outfits :/ Oh Well! creativity time!

I'm also on the 30for30 train, this time with even greater determination to actually make it all the way to the end. I am having a bit of a hard time planning for it too - about half of my thirty items are being mailed from the States and likely won't get to me until ten days in, and even once I receive those I am actually coming up a little short! I suppose I could do a 28for28... or I could just build the teensiest bit of shopping into my remix strategy :)

Lovely outfit! I've picked my 30 for 30 items and now I'm struggling to create outfits using the remainder of my closet, and it is a little tough trying not to incorporate some of your fave things. Best of luck picking your items!

I just LOVE your boots!

I can't believ you're doing a 30 for 30 so soon after the last one. Good for you! You need to include this sweater because I love it!

Good luck with the 30 for 30. I seriously thought about doing it, but I'm just not mentally ready to give up most of my closet for a month. Maybe next time..

I did the fall 30 for 30...and, um, I'm still working on finishing it. I started a full time job right when it started, so I haven't been able to finish in a timely manner! But it was an incredibly fun experience :) My biggest piece of advice=think about the weather!!

Vida said...

I have fallen victim to all that you described. Namely the 30 minute closet confusion, pile of clothes and not having a clue what to pick for the upcoming 30 for 30. I'm a first-timer, and I just had my first (fashion) blog post yesterday for Breton stripes day, so I'm rather nervous! Can't wait to see what you come up with though :)

I just bought a sweater very like that from Old Navy, and I was experimenting with belting it in exactly that fashion. Thanks for confirming my thought that this is a good idea, despite the general bulky nature of the sweater. Excellent.

love. What is that- cornflower blue? J'adore. Belt and boots make-it. Also, I have to say, I've found that more than one of my skirt-leggings-boots-socks-combos has mimicked some of yours...

I'm doing it again and actually looking forward to it, too. Also trying not to wear my 30 x 30 pieces. I love your cardigan, you should include it!

I'm really loving the way that your belt matches both your skirt and your boots. I'm doing the 30 for 30 again, too! Last time, watching other bloggers was my downfall because I got inspired by their outfits and I couldn't make what I wanted to from my 30x30 pieces. AH!

Cute outfit! I love these colors together.

I'm doing my first 30 for 30, thinking it would be easier for me to leave 30 items unpacked while the rest of my closet gets moved into a new apartment... but then I realized that I mostly only left 30 for 30 stuff out, and packed everything else that I should've been wearing this week. SO I had to unpack a bit. Ugh!!

Mrs. Marcus said...

I love that shade of blue. I'm thinking of doing 30 for 30 but I still haven't thought of what my 30 items are going to be.

Sasha said...

o gosh, I am doing 30 for 30 and I just realized reading your post that it starts Monday. time to prepare I guess...

I love this outfit. A good mix of comfy, professional, and "young adult," which is pretty tough.

What a fun blog! I just sorta stumbled upon it, and I love it! I noticed that you do a lot of belting sweaters. I LOVE that look, but I'm having a hard time getting it right. I've tried looser sweaters, more fitter sweaters...wide belts, skinny belts. I just can't seem to make it look good. Mostly I just end up looking really lumpy. I'm on the 'small-ish' side (5'6", size small/4) so I'm thinking I can pull it off, but I just don't know how! Any words of wisdom???

I'm a new comer to your blog (found you from Kendi), and I just wanted to say how much I love your blog and style. I work at a large public university in the south (but it still gets cold), and I get inspired by many of your style choices. I've "borrowed" ideas from you twice this past week. Now if only I could find some boots to fit over my huge calves, I think I'd be in business. :)

I really love this look. And then I figured why... because it reminds me of this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bitingfrost/5388464408/
