Secretly, I think an axe would have been the perfect accessory for this outfit, which reminds me of Paul Bunyan. But even if I had an axe, the only exercise my forearms have gotten lately is turning the pages of my novels, which means I doubt I could lift--much less chop anything with--an axe. However, I have been wielding a metaphorical axe as I chop extra texts off my syllabus for next semester to make a reasonable-size reading list for my students. Much as I would love to teach 11 novels in a 15-week class, I think my eyes are bigger than my stomach (so to speak) when it comes to books and I'm going to have to chop chop chop that number in half (wow, that last joke indicates that I really need to get out of the house now).

This is so super adorable, I wish you could have seen my face when I saw it. It was one of those really intense "awwww" faces and it was a better description than words.
That last picture is just precious! Good luck with the upcoming semester. And as I former history major who did lots of reading, an extra book cut from the syllabus is always appreciated.
i love this outfit on you -- especially the plaid shirt! it works perfectly with the mustard cardigan and i agree that an axe is the perfect accessory, although i doubt i'd be able to lift one of those things either.
and best of luck with your syllabus!

Ah, good luck with your syllabus!
This outfit is pretty great. I love the plaid shirt and the bean boots! I want some for myself, but somehow I think they'd be an unreasonable purchase seeing as how I live in Texas.
Adorable! You also need a blue ox. The yellow cardigan is such a nice touch.
My partner usually aims for 1000-1100 pages (all from novels) a semester.
Those boots are crazy cool! Plus I love the shirt :)
Much love,

Hey now - some books are quite heavy, and therefore are a good workout to read!
I do love the coziness of the outfit!
So cute. Love everything about this. Good luck with semester planning!
you definitely need an axe! you looks straight out of an ll bean ad - and i love it!
I love how you've embraced the spirit of those boots instead of fighting against it. Being a pretty, colorful lumberjack suits you. =) Question: do you know if these -- http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/43281?feat=506708-GN2 -- are the exact boots you've got? They look like a great choice, but I always feel a little hesitant to buy things sight unseen (or, rather, shoe un-tried-on). How do they stack up comfort-wise in your experience?
hi sara! yes, those are the exact boots i have. i really love them--very comfortable, warm, good traction, great in snow and ice. they run REALLY big though so order 1-1.5 sizes down. they're also a little bit heavy, so i don't recommend them for warmer climates--they're really made for seriously cold weather.
but i love them and they've been a lifesaver in the midwest.
I really like your boots :)

i LOVE this outfit! i think i love every outfit that includes those ll bean boots or the orange button up.
Gah...that sounds like a wonderful class, I seriously wouldn't mind reading 11 books! Good luck chopping some off, though. Also, I like that outfit -- it looks good on ya'!
Very nice. Love the Boots!!! I want a pair :).
bean boots are THE BEST! i live in mine.
Did you know they actually have lumberjack festivals, complete with log chopping competitions and greased pole climbing? haha
You look much too pretty to be chopping wood in this, but this outfit def. brought back some hilarious lumberjack festival memories. :)
your hat is adorable! i love it!
ps. do any of your students know about your blog?
ooh--love the boots tied loosely like that! cabin-chic!
p.s. i have a class right now that's WAY heavy on the reading...but i'm LOVING it!!
im a fan of the cardi over the button down~!! the contrast in colors is nice!
What a freaking rebel you are with one jean-leg cuffed! Fantastic. Totally the brightest, cheeriest Bunyan rendition I've seen :)
You pull off this outfit really well. I was just thinking that you look like you're ready to go hunting!
Just Better Together
You're rocking the Minnesota look that I love!
Everytime I wear plaid my brother calls me Paul Bunyan!lol

I'm cracking up over "Nerd Bunyan". I bet Paul Bunyan wishes he could be that stylish. And don't pull any muscles with that metaphorical axe :)
I feel like you could have added a few more ax puns....
Love the outdoorsy look. Incidentally I do want some fresh cut logs for my fireplace.
You look adorable! Glad to see you're back. Also, I know this is a style blog, but I'm very interested to see your reading lists for your students - I'm a senior English lit major and I'm always looking for new book lists! Happy New Year, dear. xo
Oh I so wish you had an axe...so fun!
you look great! i love the hat and duck boots. go get that axe, girl! :)
Perfect winter wear. Love it!
Kristine. Or Polly.
Booo - I had a ten week module last term at university which required reading a novel a week, sometimes more!! Our tutor definitely did not consider it an unreasonable request, she went absolutely barmy one week when it became apparent not many people had read the book...whip those students into shape, stomp on them with your boots ;)
Love the title of this post! Very cute. Your yellow sweater is one of my favorites! J. Crew just has some of the best colors.
Good luck with that reading list!
This is so cute on you! Here in MN there is so much Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox paraphernalia around, it's crazy!
This is probably the first time in ages that i actually like those ll bean boots. They are normally making my eyes pop out in disgrace, but you made it work. Are you a magician, or what?
Seriously. you could be cute in a parka. Does it show where my priorities are at that I would love to JUST read 11 novels in 15 weeks? However, [please disregard my blatant bragging] I'm a ridiculously voracious reader and would finish them before the time period. That is of course.. if that's all I had to do. Which is why that sounds so appealing. Then again, whenever I'm forced to read something it becomes far less interesting. Let's just say, for arguments sake you are requiring an eleven book reading list for the next 3 weeks. Thanks Tania, you're a peach!
hahaha ;)
you look ah-may-zing
