pants: gap (found in the back of my closet)

blouse: forever 21
belt: thrifted

Another mad-rush, running-late morning which led me to pull out the rare pair of pants from the back of my closet. I bought these my first year of grad school, when I was professionalizing my wardrobe but still deeply attached to pants. These trousers increased jeans-and-sweaters outfits to the smidge more professional plaid-trousers-and-sweaters outfits. I'm still undecided about how flattering straight wide-leg pants are on me, but they're definitely comfortable and I love oranges and browns together. It's also fun to switch things up a little--this feels a bit different than what I usually gravitate towards and it's fun to do something a little different than my usual high-waisted silhouette.

I really like the ruffle detail on the cardigan, and it's rich color. You look good in wide leg pants.

I love this look on you! I been envying all the menswear trousers I see for years, but so far I have never found a pair that fit me. I guess I'm just too petite. Definitely bring this look back every now and then, it looks so fresh and chic with a cute cardigan and menswear inspired shoes.

Oh yeah, and I'm not a stickler for matching shoes and belts, but it finishes the outfit off nicely!

Great outfit. That color sweater is one of my favorites.

The ruffled detail, and where you've buttoned the cardigan, still brings the focus up higher than the belt. I think that's why the look is working for you. Such a cute cardigan.

isn't it funny that how cute you look in something can change drastically from one minute to the next? I'll leave the house feeling cute and arrive at work feeling dumpy. You look adorable, though.

I think these look great on you. I love that they are wide leg menswear because it's fun to shake the wardrobe up a bit with a different silhouette. The ruffles and the colors are great too.

Hun, we are so alike - I pretty much never wear pants either, and most of the ones I own are ones I bought in my first week of work to look "professional"! ha! Anyway, you look really cute! I think they're really flattering on you

Those pants are so cute. I always love seeing looks that I could wear to the office, and menswear is always a welcomed look in my book.

This look is SO great on you! Your legs look miles long and the sweater ruffles are placed perfectly to make you look itty bitty skinny! (or rather skinnier, b/c well you're already there). Anyway, you should do this look more often, its wonderful.

I love this cardigan (and own it)! I haven't worn it yet with any trouser-pants though, thanks for the inspiration!

Seriously - I wore an outfit almost exactly like this on Tuesday!! Wide-leg pinstriped trousers! I'm debating as to whether or not to use the pictures - as the day went on I ended up hating the outfit :).

But I like the look on you! It's a little bit of a different look for you - totally works in my opinion!

So. Every so often, I get a jolt, a visceral reaction if you will, upon first glance at an outfit in a blog post. This.was.one.of.those.times. I haven't even read the text yet. (Crazy, I know!) I just enjoyed that first picture so much I thought I should share the sentiment immediately :)

I really enjoy giving bloggers positive reinforcement. LOL

wide leg trousers used to be a big staple in my wardrobe. i love how soft and comfy they are, and how the legs swish when you walk. also love the way they drape over shoes. alas i'm down to two pairs and only one fits properly. i don't think they're as flattering on me as they once were.

love that sweater, almost bought the same one then realized (again) i have more cardigans than any one person needs.

love your blog!

I think these trousers look great and are super flattering - I'm surprised they've been hiding at the back of the closet! The ruffled cardigan is the perfect touch too, the shape and details keep the whole look decidedly feminine without losing the chic, earth-tone color palette.

I find trouser pants to difficult to find in a really flattering shape and cut. But I really like these ones on you, especially with that little gold tipped belt. And I love the ruffle cardi. Well played! S.
