I'm sure you were already aware of this, but it's international wear-your-gingham-shirt day and just like pogs in fifth grade, everybody's doing it--Linda, Linley, Liz, Kendi, Jen and anyone else with a gingham shirt who wants to join.
Speaking of fifth grade, wearing a vest over a button-up with a cord skirt takes me right back to middle school which is both hilarious and awesome (wait, awkward and awesome?). Also, I'm almost positive that I bought this skirt in the 8th or 9th grade and probably did wear it with a sweater vest circa 2002. There's something about wearing an outfit I would have worn at age 15 that makes me feel young again. Just don't look at my eye wrinkles and you'd never know ten years have passed :)

love your remix of the gingham! the blue and khaki/cognac combo looks fantastic!
(and thanks for your sweet comment!)
also, i see you are an October baby (those are the best!) (:
I really love your gingham shirt with the vest...but I also really loved middle school.
haha, i think i had that same skirt! even the corduroy skirts were carpenter style back then, lol. :)
i had a pair of jeans from high school that i never wore anymore, but kept just because they still fit, despite holes in the bum and a terrible super-faded wash. but still, they fit and it made me feel like i was 15 and hearing dots and loops for the first time! i finally (recently) let them go. :P
I managed to do this today without even knowing about it! I even am wearing a vest-like thing over my gingham! I suddenly feel so cool - too bad I don't have an outfit post today!
This is a day I can get behind! Your laugh lines are beautiful...don't think otherwise!
Just last night I was asking someone whatever happened to pogs! He banished them to the likes of the juggling stick thing, and my beloved skip-it.
I love the combination of gingham and corduroy. It's a great look.
Great shirt - I wish I had a gingham top (I think I also had one as a teen but I scrapped it years ago, I'm kicking myself for that now).

I love this outfit. I've never thought of wearing a twinset tank as a vest, but I'm totally going to try that out! :)
And I'm amazed you still own stuff from 8th or 9th grade. I had such horrible taste in clothes back then (JNCO jeans and Nautica jackets anyone?) so I'm glad I've gotten rid of it all. Actually, I think my dad still wears some of my oversized polo shirts from that time period. haha!
Blue Paper Lanterns
I would love to know what you would suggest wearig with a similar colour skirt only made of suede. I tried to style it once but feel that it was a flop. http://www.flickr.com/photos/theccccfamily/5244743468/
I know the boots are not so hot but at the time they were all I could come up with :)
I love your blog. Check it every day ;)
i love this outfit! the colors are gorgeous together and that cord skirt is totally cute! definitely reminiscent of middle school, but that's what's great about it. :)

Guh, I love this!
I love all the J.Crew oxfords today! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has and still wears stuff from high school!
I've already seen Kendi wearing hers, and love the outfit she mixed, but you also did a great job! ... I'm so into the color of your tights, I own tons of black ones but have to get them in navy, they are awesome! great look! ... And already following other sites you mentioned, liked them a lot! Happy Friday!

Cute outfit. Like Future Lint, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who still wears stuff from back in the day. :)
Meow & Mwah
this is such a cute look! i love the colors and the layering. that yellow skirt is awesome!
i wander, i wonder
I love this outfit Tania! I love the blue tights with the gingham and pairing a sweater vest over it! It looks like something out of a J.Crew catalog :)
Small Time Style
Aw man! I missed IWYGS Day!? Drat!
Oh well, YOU look amazing - all layered and belted!
Super Cute! Love the boots.
looking good! i wish i had a gingham shirt to wear today!
I love this! The sweater vest and cord skirt are so cute together, and those tights are such a great color! I posted me wearing my gingham shirt too today without even realizing it.
Shopping and Spreadsheets
Great minds think alike (you and Kendi), because I think the tank over the gingham shirt is a dynamite idea!

That's so cool, I had a chance to check out kendi's and now yours. I really like how you added the khaki skirt and blue tights to make it even more preppy. I'm going to stop by the other "gingham gang" spots..;)
ps. I now want a gingham shirt for my wardrobe!
total freakin cuteness the end!
i totally missed the memo! i have a red one i would have worn!
ooh--i like it! & i LOVE finding clothes from years past and making them work for me now!
Oh, rats! I missed the holiday today! No gingham over here, just sweater tights and a mini-skirt. And a purple bike :-)
You, however, look super cute today. I love all your combinations of brown and blue.
I missed the holiday! I actually was two days early with a very similar outfit that I wore to work! You can see if here: http://cupcakeadventures12.blogspot.com/
All of you did such a great job- there should be a collage :P.
Maybe if I'd had the wherewithal to spend my money on quality clothes in high school, instead of restricting myself to Wal-Mart and the local "Made-in-an-Asian-sweat-shop/falls-apart-the-second-you-walk-out-the-door" place, I'd still have some beloved old pieces hanging in my closet.
But anyways, yay for gingham! I paired mine with a maxi skirt today. Maximum comfort, and what's more, I'm in excellent gingham-wearing company!
does it count if I bought one today? I finally caved to the pumpkin-toned J Crew one late last night- I'm sure it was after midnight...
To add to my B&W and pale Blue ginghams, and my awesome fifties gingham sundress...
love it with the vest!
love the international-day idea! the layers and the belt look great together!!
I love this out fit. Its looks really awesome on You............
The color combination i like most.....
thanks for sharing a again a prefect and beautiful outfit as usual.....
I love this outfit, the blue and navy look great with that pale yellow skirt. I wish I could have participated (I love a good sartorial holiday), but sadly I have no gingham whatsoever - let me know when there's an International Southwestern Pseudo-Paisley Shirt Day though, and I will be ready to rock!
the other emily
Love this. So classic. Wish I had a gingham shirt now... but yeah, too hot to wear it here anyway!

I love this outfit so much! This was such a great idea to all style a similar shirt on the same day. I hope I can play, too next time! =)
