I returned to the Midwest last night after an amazing trip to the Northwest, where I saw a boatload of my best friends from college (I MISS YOU GUYS!) and drank as much Seattle coffee as I could get my hands on. I'm still battling the cold I picked up somewhere between the champagne and the couch I slept on New Year's Eve, but I'm of the get-dressed-and-pretend-you-feel-well contingent and I've decided that today I'll start to feel better if I just wear some bright colors and start hacking away on my unfinished syllabus for next semester and the reading I didn't have time to do on vacation (eeks!).
P.S. I'm so happy to be back with the internet!! I've missed you, old friend...

YAY! Welcome back! And what a way to come back - I love the bicycle tee paired with the printed skirt :)

I too am part of the get-dressed-and-pretend-you-feel-well - a long hot shower and some real clothes do wonders for the sick!! :)

I don't know what I'm more envious of--the snow-free ground or that tee!

Syllabi always have a way of working themselves out--I'm sure you'll finish long before class begins. xo

Glad you had a fun trip, but I hope you can chase away that cold with this great outfit! Loving the skirt :)

Welcome back! I love that tee, it's so cute. I saw a very similar one at Zara. It was light blue, though. I almost bought it, but then went with a different one. Now I wish I had bought both! Also love your skirt, great outfit :)

I have been looking for tshirts to wear with skirts like you do and none of them that I've found look good! Do you have any suggestions of how you make this look work?

That tee shirt is wonderful! I love the colors and your dogged determinedness to press on, despite icky, sicky feelings. What does your shirt say?

We missed you as well! Welcome back. Your hair looks lighter--was that the West coast sunshine? I also enjoy that skirt (and got dressed and dragged myself to work today too despite my terrible and deteriorating cold).

Welcome back, beautiful! I, too, ADORE that tee.

You look very Northwest-y in your bicycle t-shirt. Not sure if it was related to/acquired while you were here (I live about 2 hrs away from Seattle), but I wouldn't be surprised! Love your skirt, I've been wanting something like that with a cool pattern and fuller skirt.

What a cute shirt! Looks great paired with the skirt and lots of black.

my hair _does_ look lighter, but i think it's just the camera setting/sunshine (too bad, i wish it were permanent :)

the shirt says: ceci n'est pas une bicyclette

and @erin: a fitted shirt and a higher-waisted skirt tend to be my tricks for getting this look to work. a lower-waisted skirt with a shirt tucks in makes my waist get lost and a really baggy shirt does the same.
