Date Night

dress: c/o spotted moth
belt: anthro (gift)
wedges: target

These pictures prove just how miserably gray and cold it is in the midwest in the winter. With all the leaves gone on the trees, it's hard to find a pretty place to take a picture these days. Luckily, I had a little sunshine last night because Christopher and I had a little quality time on a date night--we browsed through record stores for our new record player (!!), ate sushi, and browsed silently side-by-side at the bookstore (I swear it's romantic if you're dating a bookworm). This dress is my new date-night staple because it is easier than pie to remix; I actually wore it earlier in the week with a cardigan and boots for a quick dinner. Plus it fits the two conditions that make any garment Christopher-approved: fitted and above-the-knee. Boys are predictable :)

Too funny! Because boys *are* that predictable.

My boyfriend and I read Barthes together last night--and then more this morning. "A Lover's Discourse: Fragments" :)

You look great! I guess you can't really blame the boy, he is right about you looking good in those outfits.

How awesome that you got a record player!! I've been looking for one to buy for a couple of years, but I can only seem to find the weird electronic ones. Any suggestions?

awww! boys definitely know what they like, lol!

Love the whole outfit, you've put it all together so well! Gonna have to get myself a staple dress like that, there are so many different ways to wear it :)
And my Christopher is exactly the same!

Hot lady!! I can't think of a single guy that wouldn't like his lady in that dress :) Oh, men.
I hope you had a lovely date night! Josh and I love to work on crossword puzzles, play Words With Friends (with each other), and read the newspaper when we're on dates. It probably looks like we don't like each other to outsiders, but really, it's awesome. :)

Fancy nerdwear...though, let's be honest, this is hardly a nerdy look. It is a hot look! That dress fits you like a glove.
And I'm with Little Ocean Annie - we love a NYT crossword puzzle night!

We have 3 record players and countless records. The thing I love about records is the slow ease. You put one on...and you finish it. You don't skip tracks or make mixes. You just listen. It's so nice.

We love bookstore dates, too! And I also love the dress - you look amazing!

Super cute outfit and is that a little bird or squirrel on your belt? Or are my eyes just going mental? Glad you enjoyed your date night - so good to do it x

That sounds like a really wonderful date - and your outfit is too perfect! The dress looks AMAZING on you. (That last line really made me laugh - my boyfriend is very much the same. And any dress of mine that isn't fitted needs a belt, according to him! Haha).

Aww sounds like a lovely date, and hahahah boys are predictable... my boy has such predictable classic taste - he almost never likes my new clothes till he sees me wear them haha. I love the belt- so cute! and you look great as usual!

Angela said...

This is such a great date outfit! The belt is really fun...I think it really makes the outfit.

My Christopher and I like to play scrabble together...we're nerds too. I'm trying to convince him that sipping coffee together is romantic, but he's not buying it. Someday! :)

All of my favorite date nights with the boy involve stopping at Barnes and Noble at some point, so I completely understand. Also, you look great! The belt adds a great unique touch.

I've been visiting your blog for a LONG time but decided to comment today because i LOVE your outfit today! i looked for that belt on the anthro website but it's not there. *sad face* oh WHEN will they open an anthro store in Australia?!!! i've always wanted shapely legs but i was "blessed" with tree trunks instead so i could NEVER pull off an above the knee dress like you. I always wore pants until i found your blog. You SERIOUSLY inspired me to wear more skirts since i have a cello shaped body (according to the what not to wear ladies), plus I'm short... so it makes sense that I should be wearing more skirts/dresses than pants as my butt/thighs looked like sausages in their casing when i wear jeans. No joke. I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration. I never wear anything above my knee but i wear skirts hitting right at my knee ALL the time now cuz of you :) I love skirts and I love you...THANK YOU!! I know i sound creepy and like a stalker but I'm really not :)

I got my record player last Christmas and have built quite an impressive/hilarious collection. I often say that I collect collections, but this one is probably my favorite.

Let us know what interesting things you find!
