Today is the last day of classes, which is both exciting and a time for melancholy, since I had such terrific students this semester and I'll be sad to see them go. It's also freeeeezing here today and for the first time, I'll have to break out my scary bank-robber balaclava for my bike ride to school, along with my Mt. Everest-climbing down mittens. I know some people think it's nuts to ride a bike to school when it's 10 degrees, but I relish the chance to be outside, in the sunshine and moving around, even if it's brief. If I didn't ride my bike in the winter, I would get terrible cabin fever always being inside! Plus, I get warm quickly on my ride, and I feel like champion of the world when I get there :)

P.S. If you want to read more about winter cycling, Let's Go Ride a Bike is the most incredible resource run by two styling girls who bike all winter; they even published a guide to winter bicycling today. Read it here.

Today I am jealous of many things: Your awesome orange nail polish. Your super cozy scarf. Your layered socks. The fact that you live close enough to campus to ride a bike to work!

Ride on, fashionista!

I LOVE this outfit! Your cowl looks so cozy, and I lovve how you layered your tights and two pairs of socks. I generally have the need to do that in Phoenix, but come next week I may be in Colorado for a few days and will definitely be using you for outfit inspirations!

That scarf is fabulous - i love how you styled it like a cowl-neck! I also love all the colors going on here - you are just breezing through this challenge!

And wow - riding a bike in the frigid winter air - more power to you. I would definitely die a frozen popsicle if I attempted that!!

I love how you layered two pairs of socks on top of leggings! This is seriously inspiring and as soon as this challenge is finished I am running to the store and buying socks!

Also, I tagged you in my seven secrets post!

You look so adorable. I think this might be one of my favorite outfits so far! I'm super jealous that you can ride your bike to school. It takes me 25 minutes to drive there...poo!

I cycled to work today too (I've been walking a fair bit since it got colder here.. feet are so sloooow)

My bike lock had frozen solid but some freshly boiled water took care of that. I guess I should have guessed my breaks had suffered a similar predicament.. ugh. Shoe breaks here we go again :D (I am such a "safe" cyclist).

Love your outfit :)

I love the colors here, but biking in 10 degrees is cold. I run in that when I'm home and it's really really cold. You're one tough cookie!

And I love wearing socks over tights with tall boots! I've done it myself too!
We STILL don't have snow in Detroit. Ugh. It's annoying me, can't you tell? Send some over!!

There's something so incredibly refreshing about being outside in the winter! I'm with you: I wouldn't even dream of NOT going outside, cold and snow and ice be damned.

Also, your scarf is fantastic. I just have to add my voice to your scarf's fan club choir :-)
