I found this belt and skirt on my prodigal visit to the Goodwill yesterday. I love the look of wool pencil skirts, but they are pretty expensive if you buy them new at retail stores. Luckily, I've had incredible luck finding vintage wool pencil skirts in great condition for about $3 apiece at the thrift store. This skirt was half off ($1.50) and I spent about 20 minutes last night hemming it from dowdy-below-the-knee-length to a more flattering length. In short: it was another pretty awesome find.
P.S. If you like vintage and you're looking for something sparkly for New Year's Eve, Annie has a few covetable sequined pieces in her shop right now (Annie, you're the best!). xo

those sparkly tops are fabulous! great tip.
That skirt is sooo cute!! Actually, that whole outfit is so cute! You're totally right, hemming is the most amazing thing ever. You can find the best deals if you hem stuff! Bravo my friend!
You're a thrift maven! If I found such marvelous things, I'd keep going back to Good Will. Great catch--and I'm impressed at how quickly you got it hemmed and ready to wear.
And thanks to the link. I love discovering places other than the mall to shop at.
Kudos to your hemming skills! Love the length and overall outfit all together!! Can you come and hem some skirts for me? :)
I've found the same thing with thrifting wool pencil skirts! I also agree that they tend to be of a dowdy length, but it's totally worth the hemming time. Anyway, your outfit is so perfectly winter layered!
I LOVE you in pink and light blue! And what a steal for the skirt...
OOH another set of great finds! i love the pink and blue plaid button down too. Very preppy fresh. haha :)
i wander, i wonder
Love the skirt and I must say that you have a gorgeous smile.
