Remember when you were a kid and you used to get chain letters in the mail, which told you that you'd have good luck forever if only you'd photocopy and send that piece of paper to 20 more friends? Well, this dress is a little like those letters, except more stylish and less like spam. It's been styled by a few girls before me, each of whom have sent it on to another blogger. I've been hoarding this dress for about a month because I got it from the extremely charming Annie while I was doing the 30 for 30. It's kind of a summery dress, so I winterized it with dark colors and warm layers: a turtleneck, sweater tights, and boots. Luckily, I think a lot of summer dresses can be reinvented for winter like this. Next the dress is going to the good-lookin' Sydney from The Daybook.
Here are the ways the girls before me have worn it:
Little Ocean Annie, Rosemud, Dear Beatrice, Lulu Letty, A Thought Is The Blossom (also the genius behind the chain letter dress idea).

I like the way you styled this dress to make it "wintery" I love your boots too!!
Love it with the dark colors and cozy mittens! Best looking spam ever.
The yellow stripe inside the coat is fabulous! It's the sort of detail that makes me happy to put something on.
what a neat idea! I'm going to check the other blogs too so I can see the chain letter dress in action :)
That dress is so cute! Luck you!
It's a super cute dress and one that could be styled up in so many different ways! I love your coat too - it's so classic!
OMG - you look ADORABLE! I love this whole look!
Fantastic layering of such a cute summery dress!! I love how you also make it wintery by photographing it in snow!! :)
Small Time Style
SUCH a cute idea!
This is a really cute dress! It's like the sisterhood of the traveling pants!
Just Better Together is having 2 giveaways!
such a cute dress...love how you winterized...cannot wait to see what other bloggers did!
This is an awesome idea, and you styled the dress very well! (I wish I was "famous" enough to participate in stuff like this... but then again I wouldn't want to let go of such a pretty dress, or I might end up altering it like I alter everything ;)
Cheers,

this is adorable on you! i've been following your blog for a while and have a random question. i noticed that you wear all your nice boots (a la your j.crew boots and others) in the snow and wondered what you do to winter proof them and then care for them so they don't get ruined by the damp and salt. i just bought a pair of (deeply discounted!!) frye boots for the purposes of keeping my feet warm while still looking cute throughout the winter. my last pair of flat boots got ruined from the snow/salt combination, and i'm hoping to prevent that from happening with these by caring for them properly. i'm not planning to go play in the snow in them or anything, but if i'm afraid to even wear them out in winter weather, it kind of defeats the point of having them in the first place.
I love your take on this dress! The idea behind sharing it is fantastic -- kind of like a sisterhood of the traveling dress. The design on the collar and pockets is adorable.
I've been following that chain letter for a while now.
I'd forgotten about "physical" chain letters. Now that you mention I remember all the girls in my class copying each of these ominous little "do this or else" messages dozens of times.. at least nowadays you can just hit send or better yet: delete ;)
Brilliant winer-ization! Love it :)
I love the styling! And the pockets are adorable.

That is a very dope dress. I like the grey and how you are wearing it with that camel coat.

OMG What a cute idea! It's kind of like the sisterhood of the traveling dress. :) I love the way you winter-ized it. But what happens when you send it to Sydney, and she's like a size XXXXXS?? :)
So super cute...I think you should own your own version of this dress! It suits you perfectly and I can definitely see you incorporating it into your style.

darling dress! what a sweet idea to send it about the country :)
I love wearing my summer dresses in winter, it gives them more use and extends my wardrobe a lot.
I like how you styled this cute dress! What a fun idea :)
A lot of the others look the same (white shirt underneath), I love that you did something completely different! Love that turtleneck underneath - whereas all the others have a peasant vibe going on, yours is uniquely chic and modern. LOVE.
this is the most amazing idea i've ever seen within the blog-o-sphere. love it! and love how you styled it! (:
I love this look. The Dress and the coat are so pretty together. You look great.
Super cute way to style a summer dress!
I TOTALLY remember being rather promiscuous with my chain lettering--it was sort of a problem. As a reformed chain-letterer, I now empty my spam folder fairly compulsively. Maybe now that's my problem...hm.
me next! haha, justkidding! i like your coat.
It looks lovely, I am always big into summer dresses with turtlenecks under for winter time. Just lovely....

I love how you winterized the dress!
But will those of us who don't wear the dress be doomed to bad luck, like accidents and death, as the chain letters often threatened?
I love your camel coat, and the pretty lining!
Chic on the Cheap
Oh, goodie! You look so cute in it, my dear. It's fun to follow this around the blogs.
xoxo
i love the details inside your jacket
Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress! This makes SO much more sense than a pair of jeans. I mean, c'mon... girls KNOW how long it takes to find the perfect pair of jeans (that fits ONE person!). 4 girls, 1 pair of jeans... yeah right! Dresses, on the other hand........ you all look great in it! :)
Better Than a Milk Mustache
you did it goooood girl!
