Christopher
(Christopher's coat is from Patagonia; his jeans are Gap circa 2000; his boots are from Spain)

Works Cited
tee: gap
sweater: j crew
cords: loft
scarf: h&m
hat: target
boots: ll bean (the best!)
(coat: j crew)

Yesterday morning, it was crisp and bright but by the time we went to bed, clouds were rolling in and it was starting to snow harder and harder. When I woke up, we had about six inches of snow. Naturally, I am delighted and made Christopher go on a pilgrimage on foot to the bakery this morning (he was less delighted, being that snow isn't as novel to him). I decided, following Elisabeth, that Bean boots count as outerwear and not part of the 30 (and I definitely couldn't make it a mile in the Steve Madden boots). And because someone will always ask, I was wearing a coat (see below) and I was freezing when Christopher snapped the top shots, but luckily they didn't take long :) It is still snowing hard outside now, so I'm planning on spending the day curled up by the window reading Evelyn Waugh and watching the snow. Nerd heaven!

Send some this way, please! It's just cold and windy, not nearly as romantic as the snow.
(ps: you look so good in jeans!)

I love your version of nerd heaven!!! Outfits look so good against a snowy backdrop. So cute how you described your guy's outfit, too!

Love your boots! And so jealous of that snow : ) I wish our Saturday here was covered in snow. We got a few flurries, but that's about it.

The snow passed through hear maybe 10/12 hours before it hit you--nearly trapping us at a party last night. Once safe at home, I could see how beautiful this snowfall is--wet and rich. Not all are like that. Enjoy.

Snow and Evelyn Waugh? That does sound like heaven. Which book are you reading?

You look so cute!! And YAY first snow!! Don't you just love it?! Meanwhile, people always ask me about the coat thing - it's like, well duh of course I wore a coat, but do you really want to see photos of my puffer coat all winter?? hehe

That sounds like a fabulously nerdy day. I was hoping for some snow when I was up north in Chicago over Thanksgiving, but now I'm back in the sunny mild south and looking enviously at your pictures.

I love how happy you look to be in the snow! And your 'nerd heaven' sounds perfect - I wish it snowed where I live, or that summer hadn't just started, hah!

Your blog is quickly becoming one of my favourites! I love this outfit, especially all your pretty knitwear.

That IS exciting! You look super-cute. I've been planning to count my rain boots as outerwear if it ever rains during the 30 for 30, but I've been lucky so far. Love your snow pictures. Looks like you guys had fun. =)

You both look magical in these photos! I totally think it's okay to swap out the right shoes when there's inclement weather. No one expects you to ruin good footwear for the sake of the Challenge!

Well, if they do expect you to, they are meanie friends.

Cannot believe you have that much snow already!! That is crazy!

I applaud and commend you for your picture dedication in getting to take these pictures while it was FREEZING outside - that is dedication :)

Hope you enjoyed your snowed-in, nerd heaven day!

In your last post you said you loved snow because you grew up in California? Where in CA did you grow up? I ask because my hubby and I just moved (back) to Texas after 3 years in LA/Orange County. At first I hated the temperate weather, but then I became a weather weenie and now I am suffering in the Texas cold (40's), so I can't imagine how you are coping! Big coats I guess? :)

There's something just so fun and wonderful about this. The pops of color from your gloves and hat look awesome with the perfectly neutral ruffly cardigan. And, of course, your shining happiness doesn't hurt either. :)

Ooh I can relate. We had a surprise snow storm last night. I was wondering where the snow had been hiding, and then BOOM. Woke up with like 10 inches of snow around. Cute outfit - the boots totally don't count! :)

Beautiful photos. That sock/boot/jeans combo is great. I'm really enjoying the snow, too. It's also novel to me - although this is my fourth winter in Chicago, I grew up in NC.

Melanie said...

ohmyheck. You have the cutest smile! This is a perfect casual outfit--that cardi is amazing. I'm very jealous of the snow you've got there :)

I love that I'm not alone in my child-like appreciation of snow! I'm experiencing the first "real" winter of my life, and every time it snows I'm in awe. It's absolutely magical!

This is a cute snow outfit!! I haven't lived in a place that gets real snow in a few years now so I know the feeling-- I used to love waking up on mornings when school was canceled and go outside to see the snow because it was ruined (i.e. people walked through it, drove through it, etc.)

myedit said...

Love your snowy pics. I have snowy pics too but we drove up to that snow for a wedding, it wasn't really ours. And I am insanely jealous that you get to savour a snowstorm... I have to plow, and it sucks the joy out of a good, quiet, joyful snow.

Nerd clearly has good dress sense - and lives in a beautiful northern hemisphere part of the world that gets snow.....I miss snow. We just get tropical storms (rain for days).

Paige (Final Clothes-Out) said...

Haha, I could tell he was less than thrilled to be outside! Snow is so fun (when you don't have to drive in it)!
