turtleneck, cardigan, belt, boots: j crew

I love this outfit, but sadly my photos didn't exactly cooperate. Normally I'd avoid posting medicore pictures, but I am determined to plow through the 30 for 30! The turtleneck and long cardigan risks looking a bit librarian, which is precisely why I like it. I find that the longer I get dressed, the more I notice my penchant for nerdy-looking pieces and combinations. Some of my sartorial flames? Lots of cardigans and muted colors, turtlenecks and jewelry, a hidden passion for argyle, and a longing for a pair of big, dorky frames.

I love seeing people style up that lace skirt... I bypassed it at target because I just wasn't sure what to do with it... but you make it look so cute and casual

You look so cozy - I love turtlenecks for that, but they do not love me!

I actually like the muted colors and the librarian style. It's a really cute outfit! You could always throw on a bright scarf or belt,if you feel the need to brighten it up :)

beautiful pairing of the lacy skirt! and i think the knee-high socks and boots make it look less librarian and much more chic. and i think the pictures turned out well too!

I don't know what you're talkin about! These pictures are FANtastic! You look seriously beautiful. And this is probably weird to say ... but who cares?! Your boobs look AWESOME in that turtle neck. Which is the basic reason behind my own love affair with turtle necks. A girl needs all the help she can get!

hahah, syd, it's true! i think they work well for the moderate- and small-of-boob (though yours are pretty generous and look fabulous in a turtleneck, too).

I don't think the pics are mediocre at all! Love the background. And I am jonesing for some boots like those!

I love this outfit on you and the photos look fine. You understated librarian, you!

I like the librarian. The turtleneck is super flattering, so it works well with the cardigan.

I am so sad that I bypassed this skirt at Target. I didn't get it because I thought it would go cheaper but then when I went back, they didn't have any left. I love the outfit you paired it with and you look great in your pictures :)

i totally get the "power through" the 30/30. that's totally how i feel. when i actually force myself to take pictures i go from my usualy 50 to about 10...and think, eh, good enough, right?
you look lovely. your pictures are just fine! ;)

I like the long cardigan with the shorter skirt - I think it works swimmingly! I also love the big necklace - is it a locket? Lockets are my fave!

I love this outfit! I have this skirt in pink and am always at a loss on how to wear it without it looking strange. You remix it so well.

I wish our librarian looked like you! I'd go to the library every day just to see what she was wearing, glad I can come here instead. I love the mix of neutral tones, layers and textures. You look great.

I like the contrast between the "librarian" half of the outfit and the lace skirt. It's unexpected.

I LOVE the second shot, and I really like the pictures, also. But the second picture really sells the whole look for me. You look so windblown and pensive. I dig it.

I've always gravitated toward geeky styles, but lately I've been a little obsessive about it. Geek is totally Chic.

I love this outfit — it looks so cozy! I, too, would love a pair of big, dorky frames. Maybe one day! :)

I'm longing for big dorky frames too and I don't wear glasses. I swear, if the lenses hadn't made me woosy, I would have kept my 3D glasses and worn them just until I find the right ones.
As always, I love that skirt!!

I'm a huge fan of turtlenecks because they hide my red, blochy neck/chest when I get nervous or embarrassed in meetings at work!

Ha! I like your description of "a bit librarian". I definitely find myself going that way a lot too. I really like what you've been doing with that skirt in the challenge! It would have never been something I picked out prior to this... now I'm hoping I can find one when I can shop again! :)

This outfit is very JCrew - I like! I'm also a huge fan of muted colors and turtlenecks with jewelery. No judgment here!

I think all bloggers should have a Target lace skirt day... that's right, throw capitals on that phrase and make it a united effort.
I totally get it when the pictures don't match what I had in my mind... that's when I wish everyone could come over for a tea and a real life peak of the duds.

It does look like a cosy outfit, I wish the librarians at my university were so stylish, they wear the scruffiest clothes ever.
