Deprived of my favorite photographer while I'm out east for Thanksgiving, my mother was nice enough to snap these for me by Walden Pond, where I dragged her to look at Thoreau's house after my plane landed yesterday. While Thoreau has little to do with the twentieth century British literature I study now, I read and loved Walden Pond in college and couldn't resist the detour to Thoreau's beloved body of water. I hope you all have a great holiday tomorrow; I'll have some plumper, post-feast photos up over the weekend.

I think your mom did okay! You look lovely as usual. That shirt is fantastic, and it looks great with denim and boots.
Now, about Walden. I loved Walden in high school, but recently I started rereading it and realized that perhaps Thoreau doesn't appeal to my 20-something self like he did to my teenaged self. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience? Still, I'll always treasure how Walden made me experience spring as a miracle after a long, cold winter.
Wow- so cool that you went there! That's definitely a place I'd love to check out as I also was obsessed with the book in high school!
Oh how pretty is this pond!! Have a great Thanksgiving!! =)

The button up looks great! I so regret I didn't include mine!
Great outfit! It totally matches your surroundings with the pretty orange/brown leaves around you. Beautiful!
Let me know if you end up in Boston proper - I'll give you a tour of MIT and take you out for coffee and caramel rolls at Flour Bakery!
I love that shirt. I'm kind of looking forward to shopping when this is over. I started thinking about it and there isn't a single thing in my 30 for 30 that is less than 4 years old (that wasn't gifted to me or purchased for pregancy purposes!).
Oh I love this outfit! Happy thanksgiving!
beautiful pictures and i love the accents of orange in your shirt to match the boots. the pond looks absolutely beautiful too! have a great holiday!

I love your shirt!
a beautiful place for photoshoot and a smart combo!
Great outfit - love the plaid and ruffled sweater paired with the jeans and boots!
And I am also kind of jealous that you visited THE Walden Pond. That is all kinds of awesomeness!!
Have a great Thanksgiving!

bridget--that's SO sweet of you! i would LOVE to make it into boston, but am shackled to family for most of the week, but i will let you know if that changes. xo!
These photos turned out great! I wrote a paper on Thoreau's Walden when I was in college - it's cool to see what it actually looks like.
I could never get into Walden... but I loved Emerson? I'm sure it's usually the other way around.
What area of British lit. do you study? I'm a post doc in postcolonial lit. in England. Love your blog as another nerd who loves clothes! x
I grew up just down the road from Walden, and we used to go skinny dipping there in high school. And, knowing Thoreau, he'd have been totally cool with that.
you look great! hope you have a fantastic thanksgiving!
i wander, i wonder
Walden Pond is lovely! I even went swimming in it, summer of 2006. And I agree with everyone - your mom is a perfectly adequate photographer!
So nice! Fits right in with the scenery.
I love the checkered shirt in mustard! Looks so good!
love this look of yours! great styling!
What an excellent place for a location shot! And a great outfit for the location.
It's so funny to see the pond in photos, with all of that man-made/ or man-constructed rocks. It's not at all like I imagine it while reading.
You look very autumnal and Thanksgiving-y! Love that check shirt!
This is precious on you! I'm in love with this ruffled cardigan and all the ways you've worn it (and its twin) this challenge! I hope you're enjoying your trip East -- Mass. is beautiful, if a bit chilly, this time of year!
I always wondered what Walden Pond looked like, now I know!
I like the ruffle on your sweater.
I love that you've shared this glimpse of the actual pond. We recently discussed Thoreau in my American Lit I class. I'm incredulous that my 2010 students aren't crazy about him as I was in my college days. They seemed disappointed that his 'cabin in the woods' was on Emerson's property.
The j.crew top is very pretty. I plan to get the pink/lavender color in a similar style :).
I hope you will get a chance to enter my holiday giveaway worth $200 in prizes.

so lovely!
I love Thoreau as well, my favorite class so far in college was Transcendentalism, it caused me to change my major to education after learning all about Alcott.
have a wonderful holiday!
You look gorgeous. I love this very fall-looking outfit!

I forget you study British literature, I guess I am surprised because so many Americans study American literature and mostly Brits study British Literature and not American literature. I am curious, what's your favourite novel, I am a book lover and am always looking for recommendations by fellow scholars.
i love that button up. great location too!
I wish I had a quite place like this where I live. This looks like a perfect Fall/Thanksgiving outfit because of all the tans and the browns.
Just Better Together
Yay Walden Pond! Have a great holiday and safe travels back home.
Love that pumpkin color. And hey, you're near me! *waves*
Boston proper? Come on, Bridget, give Cambridge the love it deserves! :)
You are adorable and your outfits are great. The only improvement I would suggest is to not stand pigeon-toed. It's funny how people do that in fashion photos but not in real life. You are a beautiful girl and you are far too dignified and elegant for that.
this is a great look on you. Congrats on being halfway there, such pretty looks on you. Agree you gained momentum, but your first ones were already pretty darn cute!
This outfit is perfect for Thanksgiving and fall! :) The colors are great.
My favorites so far have been #1 and #9! :)
love the fall colors of this outfit!!!

super cute outfit!! I love that you were at Walden Pond, it's not too far from where I live!
i feel like i've probably told you this already, but you have beautiful cheekbones!
oh, i love walden pond, and it looks gorgeous in the fall; your outfit fits right in!
what a lovely location for photos! i must read walden pond, i remember learning about thoreau and emerson (etc. ... i forget the other) in high school, but never read anything. which is lame of me because i feel a weird spiritual connection to nature, and would love to seclude myself with it for a year... or forever! haha no.. i'm not that crazy, i swear!
