Sperry Boot Review

Want to hear what I honestly think of Sperry Top-Siders new boot collection*?

A few weeks ago, Sperry Top-Sider, the brand famous for their ultra-comfy boat shoes, sent me over two pairs of their fall boot collection to review. I wore the Pelican Tall Boot yesterday, and today I got the chance to trot around in the Bayshore Tall Boot.

Sperry Boot Review

The Pelican Tall Boot looked like a comfortable, more snow-proof version of some moccasins I've had my eye on at J. Crew. The boots are made from thin leather, which is too bad because they probably aren't warm enough to wear in the winter. The height of the boot is a bit awkward--not high enough to look long and lean, nor low enough to tuck easily under jeans. The criss-crossing laces all the way up the front of the boot make these a bear to put on and make the boot seem a little costume-y. Overall, these boots aren't really my style. But they are pretty comfortable and Christopher likes them.

Presto Change-o

The rain boot, which I wore yesterday, was terrific. Plenty of room to tuck in jeans, lined for warmth and comfort, non-squelchy, and with nice traction. Plus I got compliments on the sweet plaid, which spices up rainy day outfits. The downside? They retail for $68 which is a little high for rainboots, if you ask me.

*Sperry Top-Sider kindly sent me these boots as a gift; however, all views expressed in this review are my own frighteningly honest ones.

I'm all about fun tights in the fall and I LOVE those tights. Orange plus stripes=heaven. I love how fallish the first outfit is!

Good for you for being honest! The boots are cute, but $68 is kinda expensive for rain boots...

I'm sad to hear the top pair of boots didn't work out for you to well. With how thin they are, I feel that they would work well during the Arizona winter (no snow, and usually doesn't get below the teens at most).

those tights are amazing! I really like them with the boots here- I like how you styled them. such a perfect fall-appropriate outfit.

Um your tights are awesome. I'm a sucker for tights, and I wish it would get colder here so I'd have an excuse to go get some (Who am I kidding, I'll probably buy them anyways). Love the rainboots!

Love your outfit. Whatever else, those boots do look great on you. Love that you paired them with orange tights and that lovely kerchief

I am well pleased I found your blog :)

don't feel bad about not absolutely loving the boots! i'd rather hear an honest opinion than see you prancing around in them as if you think they are awesome and the best boots ever.

i think ALL bloggers should do the same for c/o items; there should be more transparency to readers about "gifted" items. really appreciate your honesty!

I like the look of the rain boots but $68 is a bit high...but if the quality is good then I guess it's an investment.

It's too bad they didn't send you some of the Classic Sperry's, which are so adorable! But have fun with the gifted boots, regardless.

I like the reviews. Those Bayshore boots are still on my list to buy though. I think you look cute in them and maybe I'm a sucker for Sperry since I live in a marine town!

Love your honesty. The Pelican is super cute but I can see how they might be challenging to style.

I have a pair of Sperry rain boots (black with lime green lining) and I love them - they really couldn't be more comfortable. $68 isn't cheap, but I really can't see them ever wearing out. They don't see that much action. The other boots you got are adorable but lacing them would get old quickly, I'm guessing.

thats too bad about the top ones...ive had my eye on them:( I LOVE top-siders...my dad has worn them since before I was born and I now own two pairs including a pair that is platinum gold colored which i love! the rain boots are so cute! they are probably more expensive since they are lined and everything...and since they are sperry, you know they are good quality!

Price on wellies (rain boots) may be high...but quality is of paramount importance. I have a pair of Hunters and, despite being so much more expensive than my last pair, they are more comfortable, sturdy and I endeavour they will last longer (fingers crossed).

I love those first tights...THAT is the colour I want!

xx:)

Too bad about the moccasin-like boots. They sure do look cozy, though! The rain boots, however, are darling. xo

i agree with the above commentators -- good for you for being honest! are you going to keep the first pair or send them back?

Aw I love the top pair of boots and how you styled them - 'tis a shame they are not winter-weather friendly. Thanks so much for your honest critique!!

Love your honesty. But your outfit goes well with the boots. I would agree that they do cut you off in a weird place. And those rain boots are a very steep price, but they're so chic!

Random side note... I LOVE Urbana, IL in the fall.... I'd recognize the street lights anywhere! One of my besties was on a committee with the city while we were in college to make the whole Urbana area more well lit. I spent many years living on Ohio street!

I totally respect and admire your honesty. And the rainboots are cute! Every time it rains here for a couple of days I want to buy some nice rainboots.

You look great. I think you're right about the leather boots; they do look a little costume-y but there's a time and a place for wearing them. I think you chose well with your colorful and patterned ensemble!

Also, I would NOT pay $68 for rain boots but if someone were going to give them to me, I'd snap those up in a heartbeat. Nay, a nanosecond. They are darling!

The rainboots are really cute! But you're right, $68? Ouch.

Thanks for the honest review! :)

Yikes $68 for the rain boots. I won't be getting those, however, they are really cute.

I posted a look inspired by you thrifting champion of the world look. You should check it out, and tell me what you think.

Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. I'm totally with you on the steep pricetag for the boots. It's definitely more than I would spend myself. But the boots I got from them are WAY comfy, and I definitely see myself wearing them a bunch.

Oh, wow! You can get those same boots (also available in red) for USD30 here in Argentina and we're not on the sales.
