Prepster

In some ways, this outfit is pretty basic--button-up, cable-knit sweater, pants--but it also combines some unusual elements. I wanted to make a preppy crewneck sweater a little more contemporary, and the courseness/casual-ness of a denim shirt offset an otherwise staid combination. I also love rolled-up sleeves! The striped bag and big bow make the whole outfit a bit more exciting.

I also LOVE the mix of navy blue and black with the sweater and pants, even though this is a rule so many people break these days. Importantly, this is also really comfortable, which is crucial for the 6-hour Ulysses reading group I'm heading off to now...yay!

Simple yet effective! Have you managed to read Ulysses? I haven't. And during my 4 years of studying literature, I don't think I met anyone who had. Maybe one or two lecturers. But I mean senior lecturers.

Love the blue and black together! I wore the same colors a few weeks ago and was surprised by how much I liked the combination.

Oh, and nice ankle pants! They don't look the least bit awkward!

I really like wearing navy and black too. I think it's something I probably would have felt uncomfortable about in my younger days (ha), but now I love it!

And those shoes are too cute.

Those pants are just the perfect fit and length on you and I love the sophistication of navy and black together! I'm in a book club called the "Ulysses Book Club" because that was going to be our first book... then we realized that no one would join, so we have been doing once a month meetings on other books and on our one year anniversary, we will tackle Ulysses... it's coming up!
