How do I wear thee? Let me count the ways...

I'm still feeling under the weather (sigh) but I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for another "How do I wear thee?" posts. My orange American Apparel skirt used to give me a lot of trouble when I couldn't figure out what colors worked well with it, but now you practically can't get me out of it.

In the winter, I wore it with lots of brown and burgundy.

And, of course, some gray.

In the summer, I went for a simpler palette of blacks, grays, and white.

And once, I even did a lesson plan on ways to wear it. In short, it's been super-versatile and a great color for brightening up my usual palette of neutrals. Do you have new ideas for how to wear it?? Maybe I could branch out with more blues or even turquoise this winter...

This skirt makes me want to scream with envy! I would wear it with plum (but not black because that's Halloween-y) and maybe with a dark forest green. Teal would also look great. It really does liven up anything you pair it with.

what a great skirt! so versatile. it looks great every way you styled it!

Love that skirt! What an awesome color :) Neutrals are probably what I would pair with it - mixing in more black as well. But maybe the right pink or yellow would work? The girls at Academichic and their color wheel would know! :)

I like the second look a lot. The orange and burgundy combination looks great.

I really like all the ways that you've styled it - I tend to shy away from bright colors like that because I'm always unsure of how to style/coordinate such pieces but you do it so well!

I love posts like this. To me that's what fashion blogging is all about - let's show the dozens of ways to rework one item, give a little inspiration to ourselves and others. So cute. Now, I'm tempted to try a similar type post. - Katy

My favorite looks would be the top left and the far right in the third row. I'm really interested in your "lesson plan" as I'm trying to learn to incorporate brighter colors in my academic wardrobe.

Nicely done! Have you figured out a cost per wear yet?

I am really impressed by your ability to remix clothes-- I'm the worst about finding an outfit for a piece of clothing and repeating it over and over.

Also, I wanted to let you know that you've been nominated for a One Lovely Blog award! http://a-red-robin.blogspot.com/2010/10/expeditions-and-awards.html

I am totally jealous of all the snow in those pictures!

I think that the pop of color with your coffee mug would actually be a new color that could potentially go with that skirt! Just a hint of it would be nice! But the versatility in that skirt is amazing! I need a go to piece like that.

I can totally understand your love for this skirt. I have it in green AND navy. I love that you have found so many ways to wear it, even when the summer months have passed. I definitely need to take a page out of your book and bring mine back into the outfit rotation...

I think that turquoise would look really good with this skirt. Although I'm a huge turquoise fan so I think it looks good with anything....:)

Who knew that an orange skirt could be a classic? But you wear it well, so I think it's becoming *your* classic piece. I like it best with the brown/beige neutrals--and the maroon(?) tights are a nice and unexpected touch!

Happy Friday :-)

PS Love your lesson plan post on this skirt. Echoing another comment, I want to try some of these ideas with my trusty red skirt.

Your little red skirt is maybe a bit short for all these techiques, but check out this post! I think suspenders are always cool, especially for nerds :)

I am absolutely loving this post! I bought a skirt a couple years ago from the clearance rack at Target and it looks almost exactly like yours. I've had a hard time trying to find something other than white and black to pair with it. Thanks for the inspiration :)

I think that the skirt might be a bit short for this idea but if you layer it over your lobster dress, you have a lobster shirt and an orange skirt! You could layer this skirt or any skirt over any dress for that matter! I do this sometimes if my dress has an interesting neckline/am feeling particularily mix-and-matchy that day. You could also wear this skirt with a collared button down- one of your own or one of your boyfriend's over a tank top for the "boyfriend" look! Love this post!

I have this skirt in navy and red and I wear them both all the time! especially the navy. My mum thinks they look like old rags. the navy one probably does, it's been worn so much, but it's just so comfy!
