Professor Lobster

Getting sick of the lobster dress yet? Thanks to all your amazingly inventive and helpful suggestions about how to remix this tricky piece, you can now call this the Professor Lobster dress (I'm not really a professor, but neither am I a lobster, so...).

Professor Lobster

Because the print is wild enough itself, I decided to go for simple black accessories to autmnify and professionalize the lobster dress (maybe later I will remix it with some more interesting color combinations). Layered under a staid black cardigan, the dress transforms fairly easily into something I'll wear in the classroom--it's a nice length and the fun print says "I have a sense of humor" (even if my lame jokes negate this).

P.S. Want to hear why I love my readers? Check out another interview with me at Plummy.

Super cute! I loved this dress from Anthro, I considered buying it but didn't b/c I didn't think I'd get enough "wear" out of it...le sigh

this is so cute!! I love your outfits. I can't wait till it gets cooler and you can teach me how to layer - I just moved from a place where it never snowed to a place where it snows every winter!

I love this look! Great remix of the lobster dress (and it should be remixed and worn often because it is so darn cute :)).

I love the lobster dress. I actually just showed it to a co-worker the other day! I really want one but they're just about non-existent now which makes it super cool that you have one.

It works! How wonderful! Remixing the lobster dress seemed possible to me in theory, but I did wonder if it would work in real life (always a skeptic--sorry about that). I like it a lot with the cardigan.

I loved this dress on its own, but I really love how you demonstrate its versatility. It's fantastic under the cardigan! That print just makes me smile.

This is going to sound weird but I love when dresses have pockets and people have their hands in them. Those pictures of you are adorable! I can't wait to see other remixes.

Funny how it is a more fun and exciting dress, the black really does tone it down and makes it more "serious."

I just found your blog a few days ago and I spent almost an hour going back through all your posts - I love it! I have a very similar style to you and your blog is what I always pictured myself having. :) Instant add to my Google Reader. Oh, and I love the lobster dress. AND, I almost forgot, you inspired me to make a skirt with pockets yesterday evening! Thank you!

I love how you made this so professional looking. I'm also really drawn to this pairing because it's in my alma mater colors :)

Lol, I busted up laughing upon reading the title of this post. Hehehe, Professor Lobster! I think you should have your students call you that henceforth. I would ...

Thank you for checking out my blog and especially thank you for leaving such sweet comments. It's really nerve wracking in the beginning (and hopefully only then ...) when you see that no one has commented or looked at your blog. So ... thanks! OH! And ps - I adore you for getting the theme of Call Me Ishmael. I've had to explain this to a number of people already!

I'll be curious to hear what your students have to say about this!

Woohoo! I think I might have been one of the people that suggested popping a plain cardi or jumper over the top of it so I feel very happy now :) You look fab.

Sure your lobster dress with a black cardigan looks professorish :)) I wish my teachers would have looked more like this back at high school.

YAY for the return of the lobster dress!!! I would be so excited to see a professor (or teacher) wearing this.
Love the black accessories. They definitely bring the professional edge without hiding the fun of the dress. Classic.

You know, I've never had lobster, but I'm thinking I would much rather wear them than eat them after seeing this dress. It's so pretty! I would love to see it paired with all red accessories...yay for monochromatic!

Btw, I loved the post where you showed us all the ways you've worn your favorite dress. So cool!

Awesome! Way to turn it into something wearable for work! My boyfriend is an artist and just made a huge wax lobster, that will then be the cast for a giant metal lobster sculpture... yay for lobsters!

I love this lobster dress! I think if one of my professors walked into class with this dress on, I would have a whole new respect for them. :)

I totally agree with Work With What You've Got!

I'm in love with it! You are so brave and cool! I know how tricky wearing graphic clothes can be, it is a real challenge. But you're so smart! I loved the contrast with black! Hope said everything: "if one of my professors walked into class with this dress on, I would have a whole new respect for them." :)

You rock Tania! <3
