(drinking at memorial union terrace, wearing a pretty necklace)
This weekend, Christopher and I threw our bicycles in the back of the car and drove to Madison, Wisconsin for a mini-vacation. It was so easy to pack with only 30 things to choose from.

I am so grateful for your suggestions about things to do--Erin and Patsy had particularly amazing ideas. We took a lot of your advice and biked around the lake, went to the capitol building, ate at sardine (amazing!), drank at the weary traveler, and visited the state fair. I wore this on our first evening out, and took these awkward pictures in the middle of campus.

I am pleased to report that there are lots of cute girls in birkenstocks around Madison, and I happily wore mine on Saturday while we walked around. It was so hot that I went for maximum comfort--shorts for easy getting-on-and-off-my-bicycle and a loose top for easy eating-my-fill-of-Wisconsin-food. It struck me as a perfect traveling outfit--it was comfortable and had shoes I can walk miles in, but I still felt pretty.
More to come tomorrow...

Hooray for the Wisconsin State Fair! We live in Chicago and I'm campaigning pretty hard for a drive north so I can have a cream puff. Please tell me you ate one. They're magical.

Your photo at the Memorial Union Terrace brought back good memories of when I spent the summer studying in Madison a few years ago--those brightly colored chairs made me so happy! Hope you had a nice weekend and your Ruche dress (and top) is so cute!

Both very sweet summer looks! I love Madison - I grew up not too far south of it but haven't been there in like 10 years!
That looks like a beautiful place to visit! The pictures look so different! It seems you're having a blast, good! :) Enjoy your time in Wisconsin!

I love Madison! Such a nice town to bike in. My husband and I like to go as a road trip, stay in a B&B and bike all the beautiful trails.
What a fun treat to see you taking pictures all around my current hometown! I especially love the ones in the following post with you in front of Lazy Jane's, since it's where I met my husband and located 2 blocks from our house! I'm only sorry we were out of town and couldn't arrange a get-together! :D
Glad you had an awesome time--it's really a great city!
I love that grey dress!! So feminine, but not over-the-top.
At first glance I thought maybe you'd made it from this pattern:

It's pretty similar and a good option for those of us who are on a spending freeze *sigh* :|
