It's day one of the 30 for 30 challenge, and I'm already finding out new things about my clothes--for instance, that the sleeves on this shirt roll up and have a button-tab. It sounds mundane to you, but my favorite autumn/winter staple just transformed to a light and breezy summer piece and I am stoked.

In other news, I'm doing something I normally shy away from: wearing a lot of things that tend to make one look bigger in pictures--gladiator sandals, a long and flowy top, white on the bottom--in rebellion against the ubiquitous idea that the clothes that make you look thinner are necessarily better. I like the summery colors here, and the proportions (a little different than my usual) and I'm temporarily throwing in the towel on trying to look like a willow. And on that note, I think it's about time for some frozen yogurt.

Love this outfit! What a wonderful start to you 30/30 challenge :)
First off -- your hair looks amazing.
Second -- you look perfect in your summer layers.
Third -- Don't be surprised if I steal this outfit from you in the next 6 weeks. :)

I love finding new ways to wear clothing; glad to see you uncovered some versatility!
This is very cute. Just perfect for summer. I love this 30 for 30 idea. I may have to participate myself one of these days. I can't wait to see more.

I don't think this outfits makes you look bigger or thinner, you just look great - it's a nice casual summer look. I'm excited to see your 30 for 30 because you're so good at mixing separates.

Looks perfect outfit to fight the summer heat! :) Cool and breezy!
In my opinion you look pretty good! I love this idea.
Love the look!
wonderful first outfit!! looks beautiful!! xoxo
I think you look wonderfully summery and casual! I have those same sandals in both silver and black!
I still think you look like a willow no matter what you wear!
I love it! I did not understand if you found that these clothes you put on weight. because of colors. If yes, has nothing to do! I've saved the picture on the computer to copy! I loved the look! Your hair.. jealous!
ooooh, I love the light colors together. And shirts with roll-ups and tabs ROCK.
I lurv this outfit! It is so perfectly summer! And I really like these proportions on you! Way to start off the challenge with a bang!!
Small Time Style
First off- I found you through Kendi's challenge, and your blog is so lovely. Secondly - love this! Also, I wholeheartedly agree with rebelling against the idea that one must dress in a certain optical-illusion thinness-creating way (although I think you look quite willowy here!). Rules are meant to be broken!

Very well done, love the simplicity here. Great colour combo...and what a cute smile :)
This is great! I hope to find out more about my clothing like you did about your shirt. :)
Maybe this challenge will also help me to make better use of my clothes!

I love this look on you. It's funny how when you throw out the rules for appearing slimmer, you stumble upon some great outfits that don't fit in the tiny constraints.
Call me crazy, but I totally think this outfit makes you look thinner! To hell with those rules; they seem to be completely wrong.
Yay for photos on the quad! :) I don't know, I like the proportions here. I think the belt makes all right in the world haha. A very lovely summer look!
I like this nice simple/casual look.
Your long and flowy top makes me want one... but alas, I don't have one... that is, unless I raid the fiancé's closet when he's not looking...
simple yest stylish. I love finding new things in my clothes as well! Like the other day I realized one of my favourite skirts has hidden pockets, hurray!
I couldn't say for certain unless you had a photo of you in the same outfit with a black skirt, top tucked and heels on --- but you do not need to look any thinner.
Good luck with the 30 for 30, it sounds like quite a test of endurance!

"...in rebellion against the ubiquitous idea that the clothes that make you look thinner are necessarily better."
WELL SAID! I love how you articulated that. I've gotten a little weary of well-meaning family members telling me that I shouldn't wear white pants or horizontal stripes. I like them, it looks cute regardless of whether it projects a "thinner" silhouette, and that's that.
Don't you just love when you completely repurpose a piece of clothing?! How great that you now have a "new" summer shirt to wear!
You look adorable, by the way!
I am so behind on reading blogs, ahh! I LOVE this outfit, you look so classy and crisp!!!
This is a lovely summer outfit. I love your point about clothes that make you look bigger/thinner. One is not necessarily better than the other. In the end, it's what makes you feel comfortable and confident that is the best. I'm loving your remix challenge outfits so far!
love this outfit! i think i'll wear something like this today :D
