Good as New

This morning I felt a little crafty and dug this dress out of my closet. My mom bought it for me in 2003 for my high school graduation and despite wearing it many times since, I've let it languish in my closet for the last three years. I love the way it fits and I love white in the summer, but the length was a little dowdy (especially because I can't wear heels right now).

Good as New

But an hour, a pair of scissors, and a little white thread later (oh yeah, and a pair of shoes and a comb), and I think this dress is coming out of retirement. I'm always amazed by what a little hemming can do--I can't believe how much new life it breathed into this old dress. I would even wear this to teach with a cardigan and a pair of flats.

I'm in awe of your sewing skills...a modification like that would take me like six hours, plus my stitches would look wonky. You did an excellent job, plus I love the belt and the shoes!

I love it cut off! I usually have to hem my dresses a little bit so my knees show. If not, I look pretty frumpy. Love how you're working the Birks in with every outfit... I didn't think it was possible.

What a fab job! ... You know besides the fact that anyone can do this it also requires will ... motivation and patience ... so I appreciate that in you! ... 'coz besides the fact that my stitching skills are rusty ... I am too lazy as well!

The dress is lovely, but the shoes are...well...replacable :)...imagine you would have worn gladiator sandals....still you look gorgeous!

Gorgeous! I love the new length, and I love the addition of the belt. Really helps to emphasize the transition from bodice to skirt.

You look beautiful!

It looks so great! I love hemming old clothes for a new look. I actually did a few pair of pants for the summer and now I have some cute shorts that I didn't have before.

God!!! Poor baby! I had that "summer course" before, every summer a different thing that made me not wear high heels... broken toes, a twisted ankle, even casts!

And now that I see it... it looks like one of the sets I made for my blog, man! I have to update before people thinks I copied it from you... Good luck with your little toe!

Kisses and good wishes!

agree with everyone about the higher hemline. as they say, higher the hemline, the better the economy:) you look so summer-friendly with those easy foot-wear too. nice one!

So I'm super-late to the commenting game on this post, but I love what you've done here! It makes me seriously yearn for a white dress.
