It's so hot here I feel a little like I'm melting! Even though I'm from a warm state (California), it doesn't get so burninghotandhumid there as it does in the midwest. Though I've come to love the scorching heat, it always takes a few days of adjustment.

I'm looking forward to the challenge of photographing my outfits this summer, because normally I spend the summer in cutoffs and tank tops trying to avoid heatstroke. In fact, I'm a little nervous about trying to look stylish this summer. So I want to ask: where do you go for summer sartorial inspiration? What are you looking forward to wearing?

Same here. Used to cutoffs. Good luck to you! You look great!
Beautiful dress! You look lovely.
Illinois does have its own special brand of heat and humidity. I'm okay with it, but my husband can't stand it. He tells me (which I'd never though about before) that it will only get wose when all the cornfields are tall, putting off so much more moisture into the air. Sigh. Can't wait!
But seriously, can't wait to see your summer style!
I love your dress!! I love feeling dressy. I look forward to wearing alot of summer dresses this summer. I usually wear capris alot & tank tops. I'm looking forward to mixing it up!!
I like summer outfits a lot, since I can wear dresses and skirts to cool off (with flip flops). In the winter, having to adjust all those layers (tights, sweaters, shoes) is often too much for me, and I wear something sloppy like jeans and a t-shirt. Still, I am not enjoying the heat!
Anything that keeps me cool outside and warm inside (crazy AC!) This dress is so pretty, btw!
I think it's going to be all about skirts and dresses for me this summer. You look stunning, by the way!

Honestly, I like to wear dresses and skirts during the summer not for being cute but just for the reason that they are the most comfortable and least hot outfits I can come up with!
And yes, the heat in California is much better than the midwest or east coast heat. Here's it's just insufferably humid all summer long. That's why I love fall and winter.
Love this dress. I wish I had gotten it when Thakoon was at Target. I can't wait to see your summer style posts.
I seriously look forward to wearing little sandals, dresses, shorts, etc. My office workwear is making me crave them.
Gah, I ADORE that print! And love that sensual neckline on you.
I vastly prefer cool weather dressing, but look forward to summer as a time when I can embrace my inner cowgirl. ;)
This dress is amazing.
Stunning! Just found your blog today and I've enjoyed reading all your past posts!
I will be wearing a dress practically every day!
PS I love that you say "works cited." The English teacher in me dies.
The print on the dress is so cool! In the summer I'm all about loose, breezy dresses - I hate clingy stuff that shows when I get all sweaty on my bike.
Your shoulders look very pretty.
I am very familiar with hot & humid since I live in Southeastern Louisiana. (humid is our middle name!) ;)
I always wear LOTS of dresses and skirts in lightweight modal knits, jersey, and cotton. I rarely wear pants in the summer because they stick to my legs and make me miserable!
And can I jsut say that I LOVE that dress on you? Great color palette and shape for you !
I love the fun print of your dress. As to keeping cool in the midwest summer heat, wear lots of tanks, skirts, and dresses. Another hint, wear natural fibers like linen and cotton. The natural fibers will help keep you cool, unlike man-made fibers which will make you like a million degrees. =)

Love that dress!
Ooh, that dress is kind of a different look for you, but I like it. I think it flatters your figure really well and you made it day-appropriate with the leather belt and chunky wedges. You've been hitting out of the park with your outfits recently!
summer is tough for me! not a big fan of showing tons and tons of skin so... staying cool is a bit rough. i am definitely looking for cute sundresses that aren't too clingy. (but not so floaty and light that they fly up at the slightest breeze, either!)
i HATE shorts of all types on myself, also. i generally live in tank tops and long skirts :)
i can't believe those are clarks! i used to work for them and everything was ugly back then :)
i'm working in an office this summer, so i am not looking forward to balancing weather/office appropriate dress code!
i love love love your dress! it's so pretty!
First - I loved the header :)
Second - you look gogeous on this flowered dress
Third - I know exactly what you mean when it concerns about hot weather plus keeping fashion.
I don't go anywhere to look for help, but I do want some floral skirts to wear in my always-hot country :)

THat dress is gorgeous!!!You look great!
And in summer I feel very very inspired by hippy looks, I think are the more comfortable, sweet and fresh!XOXO

i adore the fit of that dress and the pattern is so much fun :)
Dresses, dresses, and more dresses. That pretty much sums up my summer wardrobe. I love this one! Definitely party potential.
Love the colors/print of the dress! And I hear ya---never spent a summer in CU until grad school and it was roughhhh making it through 'em. I hate feeling hot/sweaty the moment I step outside.
I'm looking forward to wearing lots of summer dresses, skirts, and sandals. Sadly, they'll only be on weekends for now...but I'd guess for my couple of weeks off in August I'll have lots o' fun with it!
The dress looks great on you. I'm so jealous your going into summer whilst I'm going into winter. I know what you mean about being too hot to dress in anything fancy, I felt like that in summer.
great dress!! you look gorgeous! :)

Love this dress! And I totally agree...fall and spring are a blogger's dream, winter is too cold and summer is so hot, clothing can be optional. Last summer was actually cool around here but I think this year will be a scorcher. I plan on having posts filled with dresses and general sweatiness.
HIII! This dress is amazing and you look great in it!! For summer styles: So many things are possible with those clippy barrettes, the kind that flip in and out?! Thats one of my favorite accessories because you can make your hair look short or geisha, fake bangs, swoopy, off the neck but not just a pony. you can grab your ends and twist them up all droopy and clip to the top! and if your hair gets sweaty/greasy you can just keep adding more barrettes.
Amazing pattern on your dress! Great look!
I hear ya on just wanting to wear tanks and shorts in the hot weather. My goal this summer is to wear lots of dresses! They are easy, keep you cool and stylish!
my summer staples are breezy dresses - anything non-binding [or sweat inducing!]. i'm certain you'll do great trying to dress for summer - with this dress you're definitely on the right track :)
